Chapter 76 76
Chapter 76 76
Aderyn Point Of View
"It's late, Alpha. We should sleep," I said almost playfully, trying to loosen up the serious mood and the serious face he had on.
But this Alpha wasn't letting go of my hand. "Aderyn." I forgot my breathing the instant he called my name. It rolled so angelically from his pink, soft lips. It sounded so beautiful coming from him. Not just his lips—everything about him was just beautiful, so beautiful and perfect that I couldn't peel my eyes off him or successfully push him away. It was as if my efforts had constantly been in vain. The more I pushed him away, the more he kept clawing in.
"Why do you always push me off? I want to know. I want to understand you, mate." He held my hand so softly, his body pushed closer to mine until his forehead rested on mine and our breaths mixed.
"Dylan." I was breathless at the extent of our close proximity. Him being here, in my bed, half-naked, temptingly close to my face, made me lose my sense of reasoning. I could think of nothing else but him. Then his gentle fingers ran along the edge of my face, burning my skin with pleasure. I inhaled more of his breath, almost gasping.
"Tell me, Aderyn." His words sounded like a whispering command, one even my brain couldn't ignore.
His large hands finally cupped my cheeks. I was dying out of pure ecstasy, one fully clothed in pleasure.
"I-I—" I stuttered. My words also fell paralyzed in his face. I could form nothing.
"I love you. You are mine, Aderyn. My beautiful mate," he whispered across my lips, his soft pink lips dancing on mine.
"How do you know you love me?" I was no longer thinking, just sprouting out everything that came to my head, regardless of how it sounded.
A throaty chuckle kissed my ears. "I've never been more sure of anything in my life than how I feel for you. I was made solely for you, and you for me. My princess, I really can't imagine my life without you. I swear I'll die."
I couldn't help myself. A lone tear rolled down. "You deserve much better than me," I said in all honesty. He had no idea who I was. I was fucked up. I had done things—things that would forever haunt me. I didn't deserve him.
Dylan's nose tip kissed mine. His flaring, deep amber eyes stared deep into the soul of my blue ones. "I am the one who doesn't deserve you. Don't ever say that; it's killing me. The Moon Goddess chose you for me when she very well knew I didn't deserve you."
"You don't understand, Dylan. The things I've done, the blood of many people I've killed, all on my—" Before I finished, his soft lips kissed my nose tip.
"It's all in the past. This is the beginning of your future, with me, with the pack. You belong here, and I'll die if I lose you."
"You say this because you say I'm your mate."
"That and a lot more. Aderyn Raynell, I love you just as you are. With everything that has happened in your past, I love this you, and I wouldn't change a single thing about you."
I watched him, searching for a single bit of doubt. There was none. His words, his feelings—it was all beautiful. I wished I could really be part of his life, but I knew I would end up destroying and losing him just like I had done with every single person I cared about. I was cursed. Everyone I cared about ended up dying or worse. I couldn't bear harm coming to him.
"Aderyn, let me in. Please. The pack loves you."
"That's just it, Dylan. I can't be the kind of Luna they expect. I have fucking issues to deal with. I'm cursed. Everyone I cared about is either dead or miserable, and I swear I would die, too, if you had to be any of those."
Dylan just smiled. "See? I don't have to change a thing about you. You let fear take everything away from you so that you fail to see the amazing person you are. Don't let people dictate your life to you. Be just the person you are. No faking it, because you are awesome just the way you are."
"You don't know it, but you care about me and the pack. So much that you are willing to risk your happiness." He kissed my cheek. "Please, Aderyn. All your life you've been doing everything alone; now you have me. Let me in. Let me love you. I do not know about you, but I do need you."
Before I knew it, his soft lips pressed on mine, his hand slipped to my neck, pulling me closer to him. He pulled away, his eyes staring into me. I couldn't say a word. He wiped away my tears. "We should get some rest, princess," he said, and I couldn't even say a word. I folded into his arms, my head on his chest, feeling the sleep that rested on my eyelids. It was as if the sleepless nights had caught up to me.
I shut my eyes, sinking deep into his warmth. I dozed off.
I snuggled deeper into the warmth of my sheets. I felt good, really good. I might just say this was the best night I had ever had. The pleasant warmth of the sheets was over me, and my body coiled up delicately against that warmth. I peered my eyes half-open, catching a glimpse of the lazy sun rays that floated into my room.
"Gosh, it's morning already," I almost screamed in frustration. I didn't want this nice feeling to end; even the air scented different and appealing. I wished I could just lay here all day long.
"Yeah, it's morning already. But we could lay a little longer together."
I heard a voice say in my sleepiness.
I nodded mentally, loving the idea of this lasting much longer. "Sounds good." I snuggled deeper into the softness. "Gosh, it's so soft." I smiled against the softness of my pillow.
"Yeah, it is, and you're holding me just too tight that I just might suffocate." The same voice echoed humorously in my head.
Now, that wasn't me.
'No, it's not,' my inner thought chimed, as if just waking up from sleep, too.
Well, if that wasn't me, then...
Quickly, I threw my head up, my eyes falling on Dylan in all his glory.
"Bloody hell!" I said, taking in the compromising way our bodies were coiled up next to each other. My hands were wrapped around his godlike waist. No wonder it felt super nice.
"Yeah. Bloody. Hell." Dylan's lips curved into the perfect morning smile that literally knocked the air out of my lungs. Goodness, how did he look so good without even trying? I thought to myself, but there was no fudging way I would say that to him.
"What are you doing here... I thought... thought..."
"Well, good morning to you, princess," he said with his smile still on, his fingers fiddling with my brown strands. "How was your night?"
I eyed him for a while before falling back on the bed. "Nice, actually. The best I have had for the longest time now."
His smile deepened. "Me too. I've never slept so peacefully in forever."
I let out a tight smile, veering at the time. "I need to go wash up. It's late already."
"Want me to come help you?" He had the most naughty smirk on, and that was too gorgeous.
I returned his with a threatening, sarcastic chuckle. "Well, I think you've overstayed your welcome."
Dylan groaned, resting on the bed.
I smiled.
He got up from the bed. "Don't miss me too much." He kissed my forehead, leaving me alone in the room.
I went to the bathroom and showered. I got dressed into my usual outfit: black jeans, a black tank top, and a red jacket.
I combed my dried hair and left for the kitchen. I was famished. So famished I couldn't take the long stairs to the ground floor; I instead took the elevator.
The kitchen was literally empty, and so was the dining hall.
"Where's everyone?" I asked Claire and Rosie; they were usually in charge of the morning breakfast.
"There were rogues trespassing, so the Alpha and some warriors went to deal with it," Rosie spoke.
"And Brielle and the rest?" I asked.
"Somewhere around, Luna," Claire said.
"Thanks. And please, just call me Aderyn instead."
She smiled, nodding.
I left the kitchen and went outside the pack house.
Well, this was strange. I couldn't find anyone.
I started walking into the woods.
I was far away from the pack house already when I heard a soft screaming.
Instinctively, I ran towards the screams. I was shocked to see it was Allegra being attacked by some wolves and... fuck! Witches.
I ran to her side, snapping the heads of the wolves that surrounded her. I saw some wolves' lifeless bodies on the floor. I knew that was Allegra's doing. I felt proud.
Allegra was on the floor, her hands clasping her ears, and she kept on screaming. Now, this was a witch's doing.
I turned to the witches and wolves, both in human form, that surrounded us.
"She's the one!" a witch whispered.
"Be careful not to kill her; Her Highness wants her alive."
I remained quiet, stopping the hellish shrills that caused Allegra pain.
After she was alright, I signaled to her, just like in our training. Immediately, she faced the left, which had only a few wolves, while I faced the right with the witches and some wolves.
I had already calculated their possible next moves.
"Phesmatose ancheris," I quickly muttered, swinging my fingers. The next second, the wolves were floating in the air, and with the snapping of their necks, they fell harshly on the floor. The witches landed hard against the rough trees. I didn't stop there; swiftly, I snapped their necks, too, with my magic.
I turned around, and Allegra was tackling her last wolf with her fangs out and nails extended. After she had killed the rogue, I grabbed her and we started running back to the pack house. I didn't need psychic help to tell me there were still more from where that came.
