Chapter 22

Chapter 23
CAMILLE'S POV

That bitch was sleeping with both brothers.

So, having one wasn't just enough, and she had to go for the other too?

All my suspicions of Lila and the alpha twins are confirmed after I catch her kissing Alec.

She didn't deserve that much attention.

She didn't deserve to have control over the emotions of two powerful men.

I had been one second away from finishing the task we hadn't finished at the pool the other day.

The pillow would have sufficed nicely if Alec hadn't walked in.

Thank God Adrian had been standing by outside the window to help me hide from the guards, who luckily didn't catch me.

Now that Alec had ordered me to leave the pack grounds, how was I going to kill Lila?

I was running out of options and strategies to use.

Would the Alpha believe me if I told him his brother was getting inappropriately close to his wife?

Could it be possible to try winning Kael's favour and having him on my side?

But he wouldn't believe me over his wife.

“Your parents have been calling; I think it's time for us to return home.” Adrian says from his spot on the bed.

I turn away from the window to glare at him with my hands on my hips.

“Go home? You dare speak of going home when both attempts we've made failed? She was discharged from the hospital this morning. Lila is still alive, Adrian!” I snap at him.

He was just getting in my way.

I bet I would've succeeded by now already if I had been doing this on my own.

“The alpha's brother strongly dislikes you; the alpha himself isn't any better. They both keep staring at me like they'll kill me at any given opportunity. How about we take time to go back home and re-strategise?” He says the first meaningful thing that has left his mouth all morning.

I hum at the suggestion.

It would be better to go back home to the safety of my parents, where we could share ideas and speak freely without the fear of being overheard by the staff.

Where we didn't have to worry about looking or sounding suspicious.

As I turn to stare at the mirror, I take note of how there were barely any clear differences between Lila and me.

We both shared the same colour of our bright blonde hair, except she wore hers down to her waist, longer than mine.

Our eyes were a matching blue colour, and we both had the same physique.

A sick smile stretches on my face as the best idea pops up in my head.

This time, no one was going to suspect a thing.

I was going to come back with just the right way to get Lila out of the picture and take my place as the centre of attention of the brothers.

No one would see it coming, not even my weak, pathetic mate, who I would get rid of as well.

LILA'S POV

“And that's how you throw a punch.” I was out in the large clearing the pack used for training grounds.

There were a good number of other pack members present here too.

As Alec had promised, he had come to call for me to join them this morning, and he had just finished demonstrating to me and a few other newly recruited pack warriors how to throw a punch.

What Alec had said was turning out to be true.

He had briefly introduced me to the pack in general as an important member, omitting the fact that I was his brother's wife.

I was sure they were aware, though; maybe he just didn't want to say it himself.

The pack members turned out to be very nice and accommodating, not making fun of me even when I didn't know how to form a fist.

With their careful guidance and directions as Alec led the training, I was gradually beginning to feel confident that I could hold a bit of ground in a fight.

“Now everyone, pick a sparring partner and get into stance.” Alec calls out, and everyone moves to do so obediently.

I stand by looking around for anyone I could try my luck with.

'We should probably go for someone weaker? Let's not get too confident." Neela jokes, and I snort.

That was where the problem lay.

I was probably the weakest one of all the wolves gathered here!

“I'll spar with you.” A voice calls from behind me, and I turn to see an unfamiliar lady standing there.

I've never seen her around, but from the way the pack members didn't look threatened by her presence, I believed she was a member as well.

I nod meekly, getting into stance with her.

We begin to circle each other, dodging and missing blows.

This goes on for a while, and I'm feeling happy that I'm getting good at it and have not been hit yet, until she suddenly fakes a move, tricking me and then blowing me in the face harshly.

The hit has blood rushing to my nose, and I groan in pain.

Alec is busy watching over the new recruits spar to not have noticed how she had just cheated.

I feel a sudden rush of anger at her action, Neela's annoyance fuelling mine further.

It was meant to be a friendly no-blood match, and yet with the way she was looking at me and still advancing, she was definitely trying to do more than break just my nose.

Who was she?

I dodge another hit of hers, and feeling an unexpected rush of energy, I push her away with all my might.

She yelps, getting thrown backward by a notable distance.

I, too, am surprised by the strength coursing through me.

People are now looking our way as the impact of my push has drawn attention.

She begins to growl and snarl violently from her spot on the ground, and in the next minute she suddenly shifts into her wolf form, charging at me.
