Fifty-Seven
Henry seemed not to remember his nightmare and Melina kept quiet about it. She just wanted to enjoy some peace and quiet time with him. Bask in the warmth of his unconditional yet irrational love for her, and after she learned these secret facts about him and their shared past, the only road to her was to love him back as much.
The week that followed the incident ran smoothly, and Henry proved to be a well-behaved patient, being pampered by Eve and the cats. He tried to hide several times how starved he had been for attention, and Melina pretended she didn’t notice. If that was what it took to make him comfortable, so be it, but it didn’t mean she didn’t shower him with it. Something in her heart told her with time he’d learn to trust her. With all the buzz, he didn’t mention they were getting married anymore, and it was a relief. She wanted to marry him, but not under those circumstances.
Despite her relationship with Henry being out of a fairy tale for the moment, she became restless, and the one craving for attention, but not from him, what she got plenty, but from her best friends. When the threats became real in her life, her routine got disturbed since Melina was under some sort of house arrest. She had to be absent from the clinic, and she missed the contact with her patients, the rush of the busy days.
Xanthos and Gabriella kept their distance since Henry’s outburst with them. Gabs didn’t visit anymore, given the fact he did a great job scaring the soul out of her, and Melina missed spending time with them. She had to clear the bad image they had about him. Thinking for some time, she grabbed her phone from her back pocket, dialing Xanthos.
“I was worried about you, Mel. I tried calling you, but your phone is always off.” Xanthos didn’t waste time with greetings. He didn’t have an excuse. He could have gone to her house, but it became a pain in the neck crossing the secured place.
“I’m sorry. So many things happened, and I owe you an explanation.” She gave him a summary of what happened since he brought her those documents. Letting him know the guardianship paper was false. And he confirmed it, he checked the process, and it was a closed case.
“For the Gods, Melina! The situation is dangerous. What is he doing about it?”
“His crew is onto the guy. They believe they know who’s behind it, but he doesn’t tell me much. Look, the point here is, I miss you and Gabs in my life, and I don’t want you two away from me because of him.” A sharp sigh reached her ear, and it saddened her. “Please, Xan, give him a chance. Get to know him. First impressions are often not that accurate.” The silence on the line told her he was muling over the idea, and she worried on her bottom lip, waiting for his decision.
“Fine, but I’m doing this for you.” The grumpy tone warned her.
“Great!” She squeaked, jumping in place. “Come over on Sunday for brunch. Bring Catalina. I’ll be waiting for you.”
“Mel…”
“I won’t accept a no. Just get your asses here!” Melina cut him off, then hung up with a cheery grin.
A sudden movement behind her caught her attention. Melina crashed into a hard chest when she turned around, losing her balance, but a strong arm laced her by the waist, molding her soft body to the chiseled one. Melina giggled, surprised, but it faded once she met Henry’s grimace.
“I don’t need that phony god’s approval, Kitty Kat.” It was a hiss in her ear. Goosebumps crawled over her skin, feeling his warm breath on her neck.
“I’m not asking for your opinion. It’s not only him, big boy. You have to give him a chance as well. You’ll have to get along. I love you both!” She teased.
“No, you don’t…” Henry pulled her even closer, and slanted his mouth on hers in a rough kiss. Biting her bottom lip and nudging her mouth open for his exploration. Henry’s mouth drove Melina on a possessive and erotic ride, which she took with a thrill, but she needed more of him, and Melina deepened the kiss, sneaking her hand underneath his t-shirt and digging her nails on his flesh, throwing more gasoline to the fire. “You’re not authorized to love another man, Kitty Kat.” He grunted on her lips. “If I wasn’t short of a hand, I’d teach you I’m the only one you’re allowed to love.”
“Let me help you with that, then.” She whispered on his lips, gliding her hand down his body and brushing her fingers on the hard bulge constricted by his jeans.
“Kitty… Kat!” Henry groaned, and his wicked kitten nipped at his earlobe with an impish grin, pushing him into the bedroom and locking the door behind them. “What about Eve?”
“She’s out with Yiayiá and Eli, so we have a lot of time for ourselves.” Her fingers flung to the button and zipper, his jeans pooling on the floor. Then it was his t-shirt turn.
She glanced up at him, and pulled her tank top off her body, spilling her creamy breast to his hungry gaze, bringing his honeyed eyes into two lustful obsidians, staring at her with so much love shining in them she asked herself how didn’t she see it before. She always took it as a fixation on her, and now she understood she judged a book by its cover. Melina was a shy, young and naïve girl caught up by the claws of vile people, and those were the only excuse she could conjure up in her defence.
“You’re so beautiful, my Kitty Kat.” He sighed, his fingers touching the soft curls of her hair.
“You make me feel beautiful, Henry.” Melina slid his boxer down his gorgeous legs and came to face his full erection. What a view! Her mouth watered to taste him, and Melina didn’t waste time. She wrapped her fingers around his hard member and he tensed, a moan escaping from his lips. His eyes glued to her, expecting her next move. She flattened her tongue and took her time teasing him, licking his length to the base and back, swirling the tip of her tongue over the swollen head, and collecting the drop of pre-cum glistening there.
“Melina…” Her name left his mouth like a prayer, and he shuddered under her touch.
All his thoughts disappeared and his mind filled only with Melina and the wreckage she was causing to his body. She glanced up at him and dropped a kiss on the tip of his erection, making him painfully harder. After their emotional conversation, he was dying to get her alone and have his way with her, but his injury was too raw and he didn’t know what was more painful, the hole in his shoulder or not to bury himself in the haven of her body and lose himself.
He was waiting for this moment his entire life, when she would look at him without disappointment, without resentment. For years he starved for a meager crumb from Melina, and then he couldn’t believe he had her love. He feared he would wake up, and he was back in New York, and everything was nothing but a dream. This afternoon was so distinct from the others, because she was about to make love to him for the first time, because although he loved her, before they only fucked their brains out.
Melina stood up, not taking her eyes from him, wanting to see all the emotions crossing his face. She needed to remember he was still injured, so she sat him on the edge of the bed while she shimmered off her sweatpants. Only her lace remained, and she positioned herself between his legs, but she never strayed her eyes from his pools of honey.
She could hear to her own heart beating like wild drums against her ribcage as her chest swell with emotions she couldn’t understand so powerful they were, and before she made a mess of herself, she laced her fingers in his shaggy strands and tipped his head back. Closing her eyes to dissipate the tears from falling, she peppered soft kisses all over his face. Melina gasped when his arm enveloped her hips, his hand settling on her butt, and he brought her closer. The warmth of his flesh sealed to hers, the little hair on his chest grazing the sensitive skin of her breasts and bringing them into hard beads.
It was too much teasing for his poor heart to survive his kitten assault. His heart thundered like an approaching storm, and he closed his mouth hungrily on her breasts as his hand slipped from her butt into her soft folds. His cock twitched, sweet pain coiling in the pit of his stomach when Melina moaned his name. Her fingers tightened in his hair, pulling him closer to her, and bucking against his wicked fingers.
“Lay down, Henry.” She whispered, making a trail of kisses from his jaw to his ear, playing with his earlobe, biting and pulling between her teeth. “Lay down, let me straddle you.” It was a barely audible murmur.
“Melina…”
