Chapter 95 Final Epilogue:
Chapter 95 Final Epilogue:
Irene:
Six months later,
The pack-house is filled with our loved ones.
Elva, Nixie, and Anna flew in the morning after wrapping up their end of the semester exam; they also brought their various mates, Alex, Ivan and Adrian. Yes, ever since the mating ball, they ranged us up and squeaked into the phone, and I was happy for them. For now, they are resting in their rooms.
Dom and Gia came in this afternoon, like the girls, they are resting as usual. Tyler and Iris have been in the garden, doing Goddess’ knows what, then there’s Agnar and Chiara, and Chase and Nyra.
I am in the kitchen, supervising the meals to be prepared for dinner. I want us all to have dinner as a family. Madam Cici looks at me, smiling. “Is everything to your desire, Luna?”
The kitchen smells so heavenly of pastries and different meals, “It’s lovely.” I smile at her back, watching the Omegas bustle around. “They deserve to all rest after this. The omegas have been doing a great job. “Let them have a feast of their own.”
The omegas all pause, turning to look at me. “Really, Luna?”
“Of course.” I smile warmly, they all smile back. After going through everyone’s allergies with Madam Cici, I leave the kitchen and enter the hallway, only to come in contact with Alejandro.
“Ale?” I ask in disbelief, because my eyes can’t be playing mind tricks on me right now. Alejandro grins widely, opening his arms, I rush to embrace him, feeling his warmth. “I haven’t seen you in five months! And now, you show up at the pack-house unannounced, what a typical Ale move.” Even as I scold him, I am laughing in between words.
“Elva said she was flying in today. Of course, I booked the fastest ticket and came down as soon as I could.” He says when we disembark from the hug. It’s not surprising that Ale will do anything for Elva, she’s actually his favourite and even though he tries to hide it, it is pretty evident.
“Where is she?” Ale searches on top of my shoulder. “I brought her a gift.”
I smack his elbows playfully. “You can’t treat her like a kid anymore, pretty soon, she will be nineteen, she’ll graduate academy and she even has a mate. And by the way, Ale, please do not question her mate.”
Ale has a shocked look on his face, I wish I can take a picture of that right now. “She brought her mate along?”
“Yes, it seems like you aren’t her favourite anymore.” I grin, watching the way his face pales, teasing Ale is endless, I wish Iris is here right now, she knows how to poke in his delicate spot to give us a good laugh. “What about you? No mate, no date, no woman by your side?” I search on top of his shoulder.
“It’s hard; here I am, in my thirties without a mate. Even Elva found her mate at eighteen; mom is starting to think I am cursed. I am starting to think the moon goddess doesn’t want to end up with someone.” There’s a distant look in his eyes that portrays sadness and I instantly feel bad for him. The Alpha duties are weighing heavily on my brother and without a Luna by his side, I can only imagine how harder it is.
“The moon goddess knows what she is doing. I am pretty sure you’re going to find your person soon.” I say, giving him a brief hug. He hugs me back with the same warmth.
“Well, I just arrived and I am pretty tired. I just want to sleep right now.” Ale says and I roll my eyes.
“Dinner’s at eight. It’s a family dinner, you better be there.” I say and Ale mutters ‘Yes, ma’am.’. I watch him go and I sigh, hurriedly sending a quick prayer to the moon goddess to let him find his mate soon.
Out of everyone, Ale deserves to be happy.
Enrique is busy with work, but he promised to make it for dinner. I really miss my husband.
Hours pass by quickly and soon it’s dinner time, I pick a deep velvet dress with long sleeves, pairing it with the silver crest necklace that Enrique got me when he came back from his trip.
I look into the mirror, breathing in. Chin up, buckle up. It’s a very important day. When I step into the dining room, I realize that everyone prefers being early. There’s Linda, Hunter, Elva, Alejandro, Chase, Nyra, Chiara, Adrian, Alex, Ivan, Tyler, Gia, Dominic, Iris and a table full of food.
“I feel like the only one late.” I say, staring at everyone with a sly smile.
“Actually, I am the only one late.” A familiar voice responds behind me, making me tingle with excitement. I look back and see Enrique standing beside me.
“You made it.” I say with a bright smile.
“Of course, I can’t miss this.” Enrique leans in to drop a kiss on my temple, staring at everyone present. “Why don’t we start dinner?” He holds my hand and walks me to our seat, he draws out the seat for me and I sit down, he takes the seat beside me.
Soon, everyone starts topping their glasses with wine and eating, while chattering.
“I am pretty sure the men are going to start grilling the girls’ mate.” I whisper to Iris. She suppresses a giggle and in that moment, Enrique, Dominic and Alejandro start grilling Adrian, Alex and Ivan with questions like ‘Are you going to love her?’ and ‘If you hurt her, or if she calls me and cries on the phone because of what you did, it’s gonna get messy.’
“Please, take it easy on them.” Linda responds, squeezing Hunter’s shoulders. “I still want to have a chat with Alex later on about that painting, I was thinking of it being hung in the gallery, so that people can look at it and reflect on it.”
Alex’s eyes widen and a smile brightens his whole face. “Really?” He says with a mouth full of chicken. “That will be an honour.”
“It’s settled then.” Linda responds, taking a sip from the glass of wine. “Let’s have a nice chat after dinner, alright?” Alex nods eagerly.
Alejandro is being moody around Alex for a bit, but then he loosens up at one of Alex’s jokes and now they are eating mashed potatoes and laughing like giddy teenagers, I shoot a look of triumph to Elva, telling her through the mind-link, ‘I guess you aren’t Ale’s favourite anymore.’ She looks at me over the table and rolls her eyes, since Elva found her wolf three months ago, she can now mind-link with us, same thing with Nixie and Anna.
‘I guess we’ll see about that.’ She shoves a spoon of rice into her mouth, I laugh silently. The chattering continues and all of this feels like a dream come true, having everyone here, together. We’re more than friends, we’re family and I can’t be more blessed to have this loving family.
Fifteen minutes into the dinner, I excuse myself to the bedroom, stepping into the balcony, the night stars twinkle at me and I sigh, wondering how I will burst the news to Enrique. I put my hands on the wailing, staring at the night sky.
“Is everything okay?” Strong hands wrap around me and I turn, smiling.
“Nothing’s wrong.” I say, but he knows me too well.
“What’s going on in that pretty head of yours?” He asks, hands still around my waist.
I have rehearsed the words a hundred times.
In the mirror.
In the shower.
Even to the moon goddess. But now, standing in front of my handsome sexy husband, the words seem out of place.
I look up at him. “I have news.”
“Good news?” He asks, his nose brushing mine.
I nod.
“What is it?” His eyes lit up instantly, like I just handed him heaven and earth.
I take his hand and press it gently to my stomach. “You are going to be a father.”
Silence. For exactly three seconds. (Yes, I counted)
“Wait. Wait- Are you serious?” His voice cracks halfway with emotions. “You’re pregnant?”
I nod again, biting my lips to stop the grin. “Yes.”
He laughs- loud, breathless, filled with joy and spins me once before pulling me into a crushing hug.
“I swear, if it’s a girl...Goddess, I want her to have your green eyes.” He cups my cheeks, grinning. “Beautiful. Unstoppable, she’ll be fierce.”
My heart melts, because here is my husband acting like a total fanboy for our unborn baby. “You don’t know if it’s a girl.”
“I know, I have a strong feeling.” He whispers. “I’ll love her so much, I will protect her from everything- including cocky little wolves.”
I burst out laughing. “Let me guess, she’s not allowed to date until she’s twenty-one?”
“Absolutely not.” He says, dead serious. “Not unless she can break her date’s arm in three places. I’ll teach her how.”
“Oh goddess.” I groan. “You are going to be that guy.”
“Damn right.” He grins, “She’s going to know how to fight before she can walk. And I’ll braid her hair if she wants, match her nail polish. Whatever she wants.”
“You’re going to be the best father.” I say, and I really mean it. “Why don’t we announce it to everyone and then tomorrow, we can have a video call with our parents and tell them?”
“My parents will shriek.” Enrique laughs warmly, “They will start shopping for baby items right now, they will book a private jet and come here immediately.”
“They deserve to be happy about their soon to arrive grandchild.” I say.
“They do deserve that.” Enrique says, out stretching his hand. “Why don’t we go announce it to everyone?”
“Of course, we shall.” I say brightly. Yes, my Enrique might be ruthless to the world. To his enemies, to the people who dare to cross against him, but never once to me.
I used to think that fate was cruel, being fated to someone like Enrique De Luca.
But look at me now.
I am still standing. No- I’m stronger than I have ever been. Loved deeper than I even thought was possible. Enrique is my destiny in disguise.
Fate brought me to a ruthless alpha that wasn’t ruthless at all. Just a soft golden retriever who will do anything for me.
“I am lucky to have you.” I say with a bright smile, because all of these? I plan on keeping it forever.
