Chapter 70 Very well. I’ll do it

Chapter 70 Very well. I’ll do it
Mr. Alistair was sitting restlessly now, his gaze fixed on the door over and over again. He had grown terribly impatient; he missed his daughter so deeply and longed to hold her tightly in his arms as soon as possible.

Beside Mr. Alistair, his wife was doing the same. Ever since Camilla disappeared, her heart had ached even more, her soul shaken to its core. She was terrified that something terrible might happen to Camilla. She could never bear to see her only child fall into the same wounds for a second time.

Cancri, who understood exactly how his two servants felt, remained silent. The man closed his eyes and propped his head with his left hand. He was merely waiting for each passing second, and soon he opened his eyes at the same moment the doors of the grand hall swung open.

“Daddy!”
The voice shattered the once-silent atmosphere, hurried footsteps echoing rather loudly.

Cancri smiled. He could see his two daughters stepping inside, followed by an adult woman walking in while carrying a small baby in her arms.

“Come here,” Cancri said.

The two little girls immediately approached their father. They sat on Cancri’s lap and cuddled affectionately against the man.

“How is Blance’s condition?” Cancri asked as his eyes met the woman holding the small baby.

“The young master is doing well. The examination has also been carried out very thoroughly.”

Hearing the report made Cancri nod. He glanced at his two daughters and felt pleased. Today… his mood was truly good, and today he did not need to spend a huge sum just to launch an attack on the Xrezone family.

“Sir, are you certain they will come?” Mr. Alistair asked.

Cancri did not answer, but the small smile on his face was explanation enough.

There were around fifty people in the room. They sat neatly on Cancri’s left and right sides, while Cancri himself sat on a large chair like a royal throne.

Those people were elite underlings of the golden level, while the rest were middle and high-ranking executives.

“They’re here,” said the woman holding the baby. She immediately climbed the steps and stood at Cancri’s right side. Her eyes fixed sharply on the door, and not long after, she smiled when she saw one of her companions arrive safely.

“Cancri, my task is finished.” Fedora smiled as she stood upright before Cancri. She glanced back and looked at Zinan, who was walking rather slowly while carrying Camilla in his arms.

In Fedora’s opinion, Zinan was truly walking like a snail. The man seemed unwilling to let Camilla go, and it was entirely possible that Zinan would regret coming to this place.

Zinan, who had deliberately been walking slowly from the start, stopped. The man stared straight ahead and met the eyes of the Golden Snake mafia leader. Quite shocking… it turned out that the man’s appearance had not changed at all. In fact, the Golden Snake leader, who was far older, looked younger than him.

“So you’ve finally come,” Cancri said.

Hearing those words, Zinan chose to smile. He stepped forward again and tightened his hold on Camilla. He had been ready for this since two days ago, but why did today feel so unbearably heavy? What should he do now?

“Terizla, you may take your daughter now.” Cancri smiled as he spoke, noticing how Terizla had changed so quickly compared to the days before.

Hearing Cancri’s voice again, Zinan stopped in his tracks. He looked at Mr. Alistair, who had already stood up and was slowly approaching him. The man’s face was filled with relief, his eyes shimmering as he held back tears, and Zinan was certain that Mr. Alistair loved Camilla dearly.

For a moment… Zinan felt his guilt deepen. It wasn’t only Camilla who had suffered because of her father’s actions, but also the people who loved her so deeply.

“Camilla…”

Zinan, who had been silent until then, came back to his senses and looked at Mr. Alistair. “I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have done things like this. But now, after today, I won’t do anything that would harm you again, Sir.”

Mr. Alistair didn’t care. He immediately took Camilla from Zinan and kissed his daughter’s face. He could no longer hide it—he burst into tears in sheer relief.

Seeing that, Zinan felt even more useless. He drew a long breath and held back the pain as Mr. Alistair moved away from him.

Camilla… the woman he adored had now returned to where she truly belonged. At last, he let go of what he had tried so hard to hold onto. He stopped walking and chose to remain still. In his solitude, he would keep watching Camilla… he would not come closer, not to hurt himself, nor Camilla.

“Thank you,” Mr. Alistair said as he continued to walk away.

Hearing those words, Zinan immediately focused his gaze and forced himself to smile. It was heavy, but he had to do all of this for Camilla’s happiness. By doing so, he had also saved his family from the Golden Snake.

“Why did you give up and not fight me?” Cancri asked.

Faced with the question, Zinan tried to steady himself. Then he smiled. “In this matter, I’m the one at fault. Besides, I don’t want to do something foolish that would cause losses on both sides.”

Cancri seemed quite impressed. He stroked his two daughters’ hair and waited for Zinan to continue.

“I’ve also resolved to lead the Xrezone family in my own way, and I want to offer you a partnership.”

Hearing Zinan’s words, Cancri instead let out a crooked grin. “A partnership?”

Zinan smiled.

“And what makes you think that?” Cancri asked.

“Because I know you’re a powerful ally,” Zinan replied.

Cancri’s expression turned flat. The man then drew a long breath. “Before we talk about cooperation, I want you to deal with Mr. Malaike and his child. They were your father’s favorite subordinates, weren’t they?”

Zinan stiffened, never expecting Cancri to go this far with him.

“I only help my people, and of course, their wishes are the most important thing to me.”

Zinan swallowed hard, his gaze fixed more deeply on Cancri.

“Kill them,” Cancri added.

Hearing Cancri’s demand, Zinan was stunned. His eyes widened. “No, I can’t do that.”

Cancri looked bored upon hearing Zinan’s response.

“I can’t kill them, but imprisoning them—I can do that.”

Cancri immediately turned his gaze to Mr. Alistair. “Terizla, what do you think?”

Seeing that, Zinan also shifted his gaze. He hoped Mr. Alistair would be broad-minded and not ask such a thing of him. He had already made a promise, and he couldn’t break it anymore. Yes… even if a promise made to the dead was meaningless, as long as it didn’t harm others, he would still keep it.

“Return all of the Malaike family’s assets, imprison them, and as for the Xrezone family… never disturb my family again.”

Hearing Mr. Alistair’s words, Zinan felt a bit relieved. He looked at Camilla, who still had her eyes closed. Today, he was truly prepared to let Camilla go; he was willing to leave her behind.

Love doesn’t always have to mean possession. There is pain, of course, but it’s something he can endure. He didn’t want to force the situation, because it wouldn’t just hurt others—it would wound him far more deeply than anything else.

“Zinan, what’s your answer?” Cancri asked.

Hearing the question again, Zinan stopped dwelling on his thoughts. Anxiety weighed heavily on him.

“I know you’re smarter than your father,” Cancri said casually, watching Zinan’s reaction.

Zinan met his gaze with certainty, then smiled to ease the tension. “Very well. I’ll do it.”
