Chapter 29 Why are you giving up now?
Night finally arrived, and after spending the day with his mother, Danieru and Camilla began a serious discussion.
The husband and wife sat facing each other, stacks of documents on the table. They were reviewing all of the Malaike family's assets, investigating the shareholders, and trying to get them on their side later.
“I still don't understand your plan, Kitty. Why do we have to start with something as boring as this?” Danieru asked.
Camilla stared. “For now, your position is secure because Grandpa and Mom are still alive. We never know what will happen in the future. I'm doing this, obviously, so that the shareholders will be on our side from now on.”
“Ever since Grandpa handed over the holding company to that man, he hasn't paid much attention to company reports. Grandpa also has complete trust in his son-in-law and turns a blind eye to the rumors circulating out there. Because under Father's leadership, the company has grown rapidly and become what it is today.”
Camilla took a deep breath, and the woman then smiled slightly. “Gossip? What do you mean?”
Danieru leaned back against the sofa. "Father collaborated with the mafia to strengthen himself. And what's more unfortunate, this mafia group is led by a greedy man who doesn't want to lose anything."
Camilla remained silent; she had to listen carefully. She was curious, what could have led Danieru's father to collaborate with the mafia? She also wondered, wasn't collaborating with those people no different from being a slave?
"Did Grandpa ever say anything about his shares?" Camilla asked.
Danieru sighed heavily. The man had done enough research, and unfortunately, all of his grandfather's shares were controlled by his father. Granted, the shareholder's name hadn't changed, but his father still held the reins.
"I'm thinking something even crazier than this. If that man were indeed collaborating with the mafia, the family company definitely wouldn't have fallen into your hands so easily. He had the protection of those people, and perhaps the company wasn't actually Grandpa's anymore, but the mafia."
Danieru looked at Camilla, he didn't really understand the mafia world system, what he knew was that these people existed and not just anyone could have a relationship with them.
"This will be very difficult. The mafia is no easy opponent." Camilla massaged her head, exhaling somewhat roughly. It was a big problem, too big for them.
If that were the case, then Danieru and Camilla would need someone who was their equal, or even stronger. But... it's not easy to collaborate with such people. Even the government is struggling to uncover mafia syndicates, let alone ordinary civilians.
Danieru, seeing his wife's exhaustion, quickly tidied up the files. He then got up from his seat and approached Camilla. He grabbed the documents in her hands, closed them, and placed them on the table.
Camilla, surprised by Danieru's behavior, immediately glared at him. "Why are you keeping those files?"
"Don't think too much. If it were too difficult, I wouldn't have done it either." Danieru smiled.
Camilla, still not understanding Danieru's attitude, continued to stare at him, her brow furrowed. "Are you giving up before the fight?"
Danieru nodded. "I don't want this to be the case for many important people. Dealing with people like the mafia isn't my style; my life is too expensive and, of course, too short."
Camilla froze. She knew Danieru preferred peace, but this wasn't what she wanted.
"Doggie, you have the right to fight for what's yours. You're not someone who can be thrown away so easily. Don't you think about Grandpa and Mom? Do you want Grandpa to be disappointed because the business he built from scratch just ended like that?"
Danieru froze, not knowing what else to do. In truth, he didn't really want the wealth; all he wanted was a life without stress.
"Doggie," Camilla rebuked.
"Now I just want to live in peace. I have you as a friend. I don't understand, but I believe that as long as we're together, everything will be fine. I don't want to destroy everything just because of ambition. I realize that I don't have to pursue everything and I don't have to have everything."
Camilla couldn't move; this was no longer her control. Danieru's choice was his. He had made his decision, and she had to respect it.
Camilla, knowing Danieru's sincerity, immediately hugged him. "Then what about Mother? Grandpa? Will you let them live with that man and the other two?"
Danieru returned Camilla's hug. "I'll think about that another time. I just want to live in peace. Kitty, I just don't want so many important people in my life to be victims. You, Mom, my father-in-law, and Grandpa. You're the only people I can trust now."
Camilla released her hug, looked at Danieru, and kissed him on the lips. She hoped this would calm him down, she wanted him to think more clearly, and she also desperately hoped he would remain upright.
Danieru, feeling this way, immediately returned Camilla's kiss, pressing down on Camilla and deepening their kiss. The room grew warmer, making both of them sweat.
As their breaths became labored, the kiss ended quickly. They took quick gasps for air and stared at each other.
"Why are you giving up now?" Camilla asked.
"Because I don't want to lose anything, especially not you." Danieru smiled as Camilla looked confused. The man then attacked Camilla's neck, licking it, leaving a reddish trail.
Camilla, experiencing this treatment from Danieru, closed her eyes. She began to feel comfortable with his methods, no longer even remembering the cruel men's treatment of her. It was unknown what Danieru had done to make her feel so comfortable and want to linger.
Danieru licked Camilla's neck again, then moved to her earlobe and nibbled. The man's right hand supported her body, while his left hand began to knead her breast.
"A-ahhh..." Camilla moaned, hugging Danieru and squirming slowly.
Danieru, hearing Camilla's moans, stopped, and resumed nibbling on her lips.
Camilla was about to return the kiss when, disappointed, the man ended their activity.
"Camilla, let's cancel our agreement."
"What do you mean?"
"If anyone falls in love, tell them, don't leave without a word. I admit defeat. I can't bear to lose you one day, and I won't be able to leave you."
"Are you in love with me?"
"Not yet, I'm just anticipating the future."
Camilla was quite shocked to hear Danieru's words, but she quickly closed her eyes as Danieru crushed her lips again. Her monthly cycle was a mess, she wanted him to touch her, and she wanted a night filled with moans with him.
