Chapter 27 Don't worry, Doggie
Danieru, who had just opened the door, had a blank expression on his face, staring intently at the man in front of him. What had brought him here? Why did he have to interrupt his beautiful day?
“Danieru, is Camilla okay?” asked someone Danieru hadn't expected to see.
“Why are you here?” Danieru got straight to the point. He didn't want to entertain an uninvited guest, and he hadn't intended to invite one anyway.
“I'm just worried about Camilla,” said the man, still standing in front of Danieru.
Danieru immediately closed the door; he wouldn't entertain someone he hated. The man then stepped into the room where his bed was, quickly lying down and embracing Camilla.
“What's wrong? Who's here?” Camilla asked. She felt strange about Danieru's sudden appearance and embrace.
Instead of answering, Danieru closed his eyes and hugged Camilla even tighter. He rubbed his face against her breast.
"Doggie, are you mute?" Camilla asked, annoyed.
"Hatsu and Rachel are here. I hate them, and I want to spend the day with you."
Camilla, listening to Danieru's explanation, stroked his hair. "You know the enemy under the covers?"
Danieru raised his head and looked at Camilla. "What are you planning this time?"
"If you want to win a match, you must first know your opponent." Camilla stroked Danieru's cheek, smiling sweetly as he gazed at her.
Danieru hadn't expected Camilla to be such an expert at this sort of thing. Perhaps she was more logical, and he was simply driven by his hatred for Hatsu and Rachel.
Danieru froze for a moment; Camilla's hand felt incredibly gentle. She made him feel comfortable, and he wanted to linger in their current position.
"But before that, I need to know a few things. Who is Hatsu? Why do you hate her? And... wasn't Rachel your girlfriend back then? Why do you hate her now?" Camilla moved closer to Danieru's face, only inches from his.
Danieru looked at Camilla. He then kissed her lips briefly, then said, "How about we exchange information?"
Camilla stared. "Exchange information?"
Danieru nodded. The man then sat cross-legged, his hands supporting his head, with his elbows resting on his thighs. He tilted his head to the right, blinking a few times.
Camilla, watching this, was slightly amused; Danieru looked adorable. She was also curious about what Danieru wanted to know about her.
"Okay, what do you want to know about me?" Camilla asked.
"When's your birthday?" Danieru asked in a low voice, his intonation very gentle, making anyone feel at ease, especially since his gaze was truly calm and warm.
Camilla, not expecting Danieru's question, froze, then smiled awkwardly.
"Why are you so quiet?" Danieru asked.
Camilla averted her gaze, suppressing the strange feeling in her heart. It was just a normal question, why did she find it so sweet?
“Kitty,” Danieru reprimanded.
“August 18th.” Camilla answered quickly, unable to stand the question any longer. She had expected Danieru to ask about anything bad that had happened to her, but instead, he asked something she hadn't considered.
Danieru nodded. “Kitty, you should sit down.”
“You're asking too much,” Camilla replied.
“Please,” Danieru said.
Camilla reluctantly complied with her husband's wishes. She immediately sat up and leaned against the headboard.
“Okay, I'm sitting up. Tell me quickly,” Camilla said.
Danieru immediately lay down, using Camilla's thigh as a pillow. He hugged her waist, and she remained silent for a moment.
Camilla, understanding Danieru's situation, immediately stroked his hair. She smiled when he had calmed down a little.
"You can pour everything out to me," Camilla said. She could feel Danieru loosening his grip on her waist.
"Hatsu and I aren't siblings. Hatsu is the child of the woman my father had an affair with. My mother had just given birth to me, and my father brought Hatsu home."
Camilla was quite shocked to hear this. She hadn't expected the truth to be so bitter. A child born of an affair had entered the main house, stealing the affection that should have belonged to the family's legitimate children. Camilla felt exasperated, already suspecting something was amiss.
"My father and I had an arranged marriage. My father, the son of a family whose company was nearly bankrupt, had to marry and change his surname. I know it's painful, but... did he have to have an affair and have a child with another woman?"
Camilla could sense Danieru's disappointment. The man radiated a dark aura, and the hatred had pierced her repeatedly.
"And... why did you have to be so violent towards Mother? I often hear Mother crying at night, because Father hits her, sometimes saying bad things. Father doesn't love me, and Mother. Father only loves that woman, and her son."
Camilla didn't know what to say; she could only swallow hard. Danieru was deeply hurt by the difference in affection from his father. He also understood very well that his father-in-law didn't deserve to do such a terrible thing to his wife and children. That cruel man, ah... Camilla hated him so much.
"I heard all this from Grandma. Unfortunately, Grandma has passed away. I can no longer hear her talk, tell me how much Mother suffered." Danieru paused, taking a deep breath to calm himself. The wound opened again, making him feel even more devastated, the abyss of hatred deepening.
Camilla lowered her head and kissed the top of Danieru's head, pouring out her love. "Will my husband cry? I can help you free Mother. I can be a crutch to keep you going and standing tall. Is that old man planning to transfer all of Mother's family assets to Hatsu? If so, I will carry out our plan quickly."
"Father acted faster than me. Rachel's family is also his business partner. When Rachel and I were in a relationship, the old man arranged for his daughter to marry my lover. I was too stupid. It turns out Rachel approached me and became my lover because she wanted to be closer to Hatsu, who was widely known as Mother's eldest son. The fact that we weren't siblings wasn't revealed to the media."
"Do you still love Rachel?" Camilla asked.
"Yes, but I've buried my feelings since we got married, and since they got engaged, I've been trying to kill those feelings of love."
"But those feelings are still there even though you buried them, aren't they?" Camilla asked.
Danieru remained silent, unsure of how to respond. The man closed his eyes, continued to hug Camilla, savoring her scent.
"Why are you silent?" Camilla asked.
"I'll try to forget her. I also promised to only know two women in my life: my mother, who gave birth to me, and you, who are none other than my friend."
"Once you find another woman, tell me immediately. I'll make her your true love, and I'll take care of her for you."
Danieru remained silent. He didn't know if he would ever feel love like a man for a woman. What was certain was that he loved Camilla now, and he didn't want to lose her friend.
"Do you understand?" Camilla asked.
"I understand, and if there's a man you love, tell me. I'll tie him down to you, making sure he loves you deeply."
Camilla smiled. "I understand. Now get up, I'll explain the plan I have in mind."
Danieru immediately sat up and looked at Camilla.
"What's your plan?" Danieru asked.
Camilla was about to speak, but the sound of her hungry stomach interrupted everything.
Danieru, hearing this, laughed softly. He then reached out and ruffled Camilla's hair affectionately.
"I'm hungry," Camilla said.
"Want to cook together?" Danieru asked.
"Can you cook?" Camilla asked back.
"Yes, I learned from Mother."
"Okay," Camilla replied.
Danieru immediately got up and approached Camilla from the side of the bed where she was. He smiled warmly and picked her up. "Don't fight it. I want to do this to bring us closer."
"You're overreacting."
"Just think of it as exercise. Carrying my wife will also help me understand her."
Camilla smiled, and Danieru quickly left. They would cook together first, then eat and continue talking after they were full.
"Kitty, I hope that plan isn't too difficult."
"Don't worry, Doggie."
