Chapter 21 Stop reading my mind
After the wedding ceremony, Camilla and Danieru immediately returned to their mansion. The couple looked normal, even preoccupied with their own thoughts.
Danieru glanced at Camilla, who was now staring out the window. She seemed silent and unmoving. Her wedding dress was still on Camilla, and her makeup hadn't faded at all.
Danieru was still very curious about Camilla's reaction to his wedding vows. He wanted to ask, but he knew she wouldn't tell him the truth. She was like a tall, strong mountain. She didn't like to express her feelings, even if she was happy.
Camilla, feeling the attention she was receiving, stared at Danieru, and she could see his awkwardness. For a moment, she interpreted his facial expressions and body language.
"Those wedding vows you said earlier, if you say them to the woman you love and that woman loves you, she will definitely be happy." The woman said this without further ado, and he could see Danieru's slight surprise.
"Look, you're even surprised by what I said. Do you think I don't know what you're thinking?" Camilla asked.
Danieru was stunned; the woman truly had excellent observation. It was as if Camilla could read other people's minds.
"Don't think I can read other people's minds, it's clearly written on your face."
"Stop reading my mind," Danieru said.
"You idiot, I don't read them."
Camilla immediately stood up, wanting to change out of her wedding dress right now. She was starting to get bored of it; she didn't feel anything special.
Danieru immediately grabbed Camilla's hand and pulled her onto his lap.
Camilla didn't want to react further; she was thinking about the lie she'd made up. Who knows what the future would hold, but she certainly didn't want her father to know about this.
"Don't you want to have a reception?" Danieru asked.
Camilla averted her gaze and met his eyes. "Do you want to spend your money?"
Danieru, hearing Camilla's words, chuckled. He leaned his head on her shoulder. "I'm just trying to be a good friend to you."
"Are you starting to love me? Let's get a divorce then," Camilla said. Danieru was being too overbearing if he only considered her a friend.
Platak...
Danieru smacked Camilla's head and then pinched her cheek. "How could I fall in love with you? I'll make you my little sister."
"Why did you have to smack my head? No wonder Rachel left you." Camilla stroked her head, annoyed by Danieru's behavior.
"I've forgotten her, now that I have a wife."
"Hypocrite, don't lie to yourself."
Danieru smiled slightly. He would also try to forget Rachel. Although he hadn't yet, he would say he'd forgotten their love story. He realized that today she belonged to his brother.
"You should be my little sister."
“I don’t want to be your little sister,” Camilla replied.
“You should be grateful to have a handsome older brother like me.”
“I’d rather die if I had a brother like you.” Camilla stared out the window, the sun was almost setting, and the orange sky looked so beautiful.
“What’s wrong? I’m much older than you.”
“Pfffffttt…” Camilla held back a laugh, then looked at Danieru and said, “…I prefer those gigolos to you.”
“Are you comparing me to them?” Danieru asked. The man hugged Camilla’s waist tightly.
“Really, are you angry?” Camilla asked.
Danieru looked away, pleased that Camilla could say things like this to him. I don’t know… he just hoped things wouldn’t end so quickly.
“I’m not angry,” Danieru replied.
Camilla fell silent, closing her eyes, feeling comfortable. Honestly, since she’d been with Danieru so often, she’d felt comfortable, but she was also scared.
Her greatest fear was Danieru finding out about her past. She didn't want that wound to be revealed again, she didn't want anyone to look down on her. And what Camilla hated most was not wanting anyone to love her just out of pity.
"Camilla, be my sister."
Camilla stared. "A brother wouldn't make love to his own sister."
"In bed, I'm your husband and your medicine; when I'm not, I'm your brother."
"I'm not interested in having a brother," Camilla replied.
Hearing Camilla's answer, Danieru released his embrace. He moved closer to Camilla's face and then crushed her lips.
Camilla, feeling the touch on her lips, froze, her eyes wide, and she pushed Danieru away until the kiss ended.
Camilla immediately pulled away from Danieru and took a deep breath. It felt strange, she didn't accept the kiss. This was clearly very different from when she felt his suffering. The kiss brought back bad memories; Camilla hated it, she didn't like it.
"What's wrong? I'm just trying to be your medicine right now. After this, I have to go check on someone." Danieru didn't understand, but he felt Camilla's body tense; he even sensed a hint of fear.
"Don't do that. You can do whatever you want when I can't control my body. But... never do it when I'm well." Camilla swallowed hard.
"Kitty... ah, okay, I'm sorry." Danieru immediately stood up and left the room where he and Camilla were sitting. Perhaps leaving now would be better; he could return home sooner and help Camilla through this difficult time later.
Camilla, watching Danieru leave, immediately sat down on the floor. She remembered the moment those ugly old men had forced her to kiss him. Camilla closed her eyes, no... she wouldn't remember it anymore.
Camilla felt her body tremble; she couldn't just forget it. It felt... it felt like it had happened just yesterday.
Camilla lifted her head; the sun had now completely set, and the room she was in had suddenly become dark.
"Damn... I remember that again." Camilla felt her heart beating erratically.
...
An hour passed very quickly, and Camilla was already feeling better. She was now spending her time watching television, occasionally laughing as she watched the scenes.
Camilla tightly hugged the doll in her arms, then focused her gaze and became annoyed when some commercials came on.
"Ah... they're so annoying." Camilla turned off the television, then stood and stared at the items nearby. They were all her clothes, and unfortunately, there were so many of them.
Camilla hoped the maid would come and tidy everything up for her. She really couldn't put her clothes away, and she didn't even know which room to use.
"Camilla, are you okay?" someone asked.
Camilla averted her gaze, startled to see her mother-in-law standing there with a lunch box in her right hand.
"Mother... who came with you?" Camilla asked. She tried to appear as natural as possible so the woman wouldn't suspect anything.
"Ah... I came alone. Danieru also said you were alone, and well... I thought I could keep you company before that brat comes home."
Camilla smiled, then stepped further away, quite surprised. She was still wearing her wedding dress; she hadn't even washed her face.
"Ah... I forgot to change," Camilla said, holding her dress.
Mrs. Malaike smiled warmly. "It's okay, I really like you in that dress."
Camilla scratched her head, then looked at the other item her mother-in-law had brought.
"Is that a photo album?" Camilla asked.
Mrs. Malaike picked up the object Camilla was referring to. She then walked over and placed her belongings on the table.
“Before we see it, let’s eat. I’ve cooked yours and Danieru’s favorite food,” the woman said.
“My favorite food?” Camilla was confused. She had never mentioned anything about her favorite food.
“Right, don’t you like sashimi?” the woman asked.
“Y-yes… I do, b-but… how did you know?” Camilla asked.
“I asked your father. Come on, we should eat soon. Don’t you want to see the photo album?”
“Okay, Mother.” Camilla immediately stepped forward and followed her mother-in-law into the dining room. She was touched that even her husband’s mother knew about her favorite food.
Camilla loved Japanese food; she often visited the country just to pamper herself. Perhaps she would like to go there someday, but hopefully, Danieru wouldn’t hold her back.
“Camilla, next time, let’s stay at my house.”
Camilla, lost in thought, came to her senses. “I-I’ll ask Danieru first.”
Mrs. Malaike smiled. “Yes, he hasn’t stayed overnight since his sister’s engagement, because his father’s views have changed since he rejected the marriage two years ago.”
“I understand, I’ll try.”
“Thank you, you’re a good woman. Danieru will definitely love you very much, and I really hope you can stay together forever.”
Camilla smiled awkwardly. “Of course, we will be together forever. Because I love him very much too.”
Camilla was almost crazy, she had just lied again. It had been a really bad day, and it was all thanks to Danieru.
