I'm not sure how long it had been, but at some point you start to think that there's no reason of trying if you're not even at the right place. That's how it felt, and I kept thinking that if what happened back in the house was a sign of the spell going wrong at some point, what if the directions that were given on the map were wrong. It felt as if we walked an awfully long path through the woods, and with Dimitri holding the map and walking first, I thought it was going to be fine.. My concern was that there was no sign of any light coming from a house or a some kind of thing that would let us know that we were on the right path. It's funny how so many things go though your head while simply walking and trying to find the probable weapon that was meant for killing your biggest enemy. I had told myself that it's been enough.. Many times. I've had enough of living in fear and hoping that once Adam was awaken he was going to spare out lives. I knew that he wasn't a problem for Dimitri or Christian.. They would easily take him down in a physical fight. It's how his mind worked that scared me.. Because I knew him. I knew that he was going to target the weakest spot there was.. And that was family. That was the ones I loved..That was Annabelle. "Are we there yet?" I heard Calliope ask, her voice somewhat breaking my thoughts, and making me snap back to reality real quick. Dimitri was just too focused on the map and his voice came out quieter and raspier than usual. "Um, no, it's as if this place is hidden underground." He stopped, once again looking at the map for a few seconds, frowned in concern. "This is it. This is the spot that's marked.. And how is it that there's no sign of it?" You could hear the annoyance in his voice, the frustration and the worry. "Didn't we already pass this way?" I heard Calliope ask from a step behind me and she was right. Everything in these woods seemed so similar one to another, not letting you memorize the way at all. Perhaps that's the whole idea why the necklace was hidden exactly here. Hidden.. "Wait.. What if,-" I started off, taking a few steps as I passed Dimitri.. "What if the necklace is underground? What if we've been walking over it this whole time?" Silence fell over, making me turn around and look at them. Dimitri just focused on me for a few seconds before both of them just knelt, almost at the same time. "Do you have a shovel?" Calliope asked him, but Dimitri was already a step ahead and started pushing the ground on the sides with his hands. I stood frozen, thinking that it could be a mistake, but they already took it seriously. I mean, it was possible, but how big were the chances? I knelt across from Dimitri, starting to do the same thing. "I think you would see me carrying a shovel Calliope.." He answered, continuing to do what he started, while the two of us just followed along. It must've been a minute since we started when I noticed Dimitri has stopped, but I was too focused on doing this as soon as possible, because it was already time for us to get this over with once and for all.. What I didn't understand at first was how he moved his hand towards mine, and in his a second made me stop, taking my hand and turning my palm. "Why aren't you healing?" Both our hands were dirty, but on my palm, just like before there was a cut right in the middle. But, I already knew that I wasn't going to heal as fast as usual. "Baby, even though I channeled Lana, I still used a lot of energy.. I'll heal, just slower." I made sure to smile at him, but giving fake faces had never worked for Dimitri. It was dark, but the moon illuminated his face enough for me to see each feature. The pupils in his eyes were expended, and his eyes were filled with all kind of emotions, it was hard for me to understand so quickly. I just didn't want to see guilt in his eyes because I knew there was nothing he could possibly do to make this better. It's been like this for months now, and it wasn't his fault that the Morphers refused to give the necklace back to Luke. Apparently, it's not where it belonged. But Dimitri always wanted to do everything, literally everything in his power to protect those he loved. And he did. But in this situation.. It wasn't up to us. I felt him caress the side of my hand with his thumb, glancing back at the cut on my palm. "I found it!" Calliope's voice broke the silence, loud and filled with excitement in that second, making both of us look. "I found the necklace," And that's when the real challenge was about to begin. ~ Christian's POV The whole deal was for me to stay at home and make sure the situation over here was alright.. I trusted Amelia and Calliope, but still the thought of my brother helping them gave me more insurance that it was going to be fine. On the other hand I still had Lana to worry about. The whole situation with the spell seemed to effect her, and after they left she told me that she needed rest.. Still, Amelia's spell required a lot of energy, so that must've drained her. I understood why she was curious to know more about her family's secrets, but I couldn't let her throw herself in danger because of curiously. I still needed her unharmed anyway. Besides, with someone as careless as her, there was supposed to be someone to look after her. Our paths crossed multiple times, and I was the one that promised her safety. Even if it meant from her own self.
