But the girl had some stuff figured out. She didn't give me a clear answer. "A while now." "But you're leaving together tonight, right?" She shifted from her spot, somewhat hesitating whether to continue or not. "Yea, Venedocia is not my kind of place." I decided to be forward with her. She deserved to know why I was asking so urgently. "Look, I'm asking because.. I've know Christian for a long time now.. Enough to be aware that he is up to something." I added, completely sure that she was aware what I was talking about. "I have a few things on my mind, but I need someone to tell me that I'm right. Am I?" There was that hope in my voice as I tried getting enough information out of her. But either she was really good at hiding, or she really didn't know.. "Like I said, I have only known him for a while. He doesn't share much with me. With our families being enemies, I don't think there's really trust between us." I exhaled a sharp breath, standing up. "True," She followed my moves, putting her hands in her back pockets. "But you can try?" The second that question left my lips I watched how her expression changed to somewhat confused. "What?" "To find out more." I said simply, watching how her eyes searched for something more.. She rose her eyebrows in slight surprise as she passed by me, walking towards the desk near the door. She put down her backpack and turned back towards me while I simply followed her moves around the room. "If it's not connected to me, I'm staying out of it.." I crossed my arms over my chest. She had a point, but I was the only person close to Christian at the moment. She was the only one that could give me answers. "That's the thing.. It may be connected with me." I saw annoyance flash behind her eyes, and I could follow her temper just perfectly.. Werewolves always seemed similar when bothered. I knew how to deal with her. "So?" "So, you can find that out and tell me." I said, taking a few steps towards her. I knew more about her then she did about me. And I was ready to use everything I had left just to be at least a step closet to finding out if Cristian was mixing something up behind my back. So I started off with just the basics. She'd be surprised on how much I could find out in just a day.. "You do need answers on how you ended up in Venedocia without remembering a thing, correct? And the last thing you need is your father to track you with his biggest enemy.." That confusion started dominating her face. She crossed her arms over her chest, eyeing me like she was trying to have me figured out. "Are you threatening me?" Threat wasn't the word. I was just using all my strengths to protect so many around me that I loved. "No, Lana, I'm offering you a deal. I'll find out answers for you, and you do the same for me." And there it was. I had her attention.. "And as a starter I can cast a simple anti-track spell on you, and you'll have nothing to worry about." "Why do you care so much what Christian is up to?" "Because, there a lot of people out there that you were lucky enough not to hear of.." I didn't need her involved in this. I just needed a few answers. She could do that while being in the same car as him. It wasn't hard to get things out of him when he cared. I was urged to find help from someone I barely knew just the find a way to protect my daughter the way I promised I would. "It's not even about me anymore." "Who is it for then?" "My daughter. I need her safe. And if I want that, I need to be aware of everything." I watched as she exhaled slowly, her eyes filled with curiosity that I couldn't exactly give much answers to. "Things have been quiet for a while now.." I heard myself releasing a deep breath, pressure down my chest forming by just thinking about it. "I can feel that chaos is coming back, and it has to be stopped before it swallows us all again." And then I realized that Lana in fact had no idea what happened. She was lucky enough to be away from all the evil Adam had done. "What happened?" I didn't want her pulled into something she had no part of. Little did I know, maybe she already was.. "You don't want yourself involved, Lana, trust me.. All I need you to do is give me basics. It won't be hard." I said, shaking my head slightly and watching how she listened to me intently. I didn't need her learning everything. Christian's first destination was the only thing I needed to have things figured out. We all knew where Adam was. One word was enough. A few beats in silence passed. I watched her intently, careful not to miss what was going on behind her eyes.. She was hesitant, I understood that.. But there wasn't just a need to find out her answers. There was also curiosity that I already warned her to stay away from. "Fine. I'll do it. But I want my answers too." She finally said, releasing a sharp breath as she uncrossed her asm. Taking a few steps towards her. I made a deal with her. I had to show her I was serious in keeping it. "I'll call you when I find something out. I expect the same from you." I stopped in front of her, watching how she nodded her head in response. "For now-" I rose my hand, getting ready for something that I gave up from long ago. Powers that I haven't used ever since Annabelle was born. And once I felt the tremors underneath my skin, the force rising, I had this awful realization that it was all starting again. Everything was back where it started. The simple spell was done within seconds. It wasn't linked to her, so Lana felt nothing. But now, her scent was going to be hidden from all werewolves out there, and none of the vampire in Venedocia could sense her werewolf venom. She was somewhat free, and I had preformed the first part of our deal. When I opened my eyes, I saw the slight dread in her eyes, the somewhat confusion hiding behind that ocean color.. She was part of it one way or another. She just shouldn't let herself completely under the danger of this situation. I warned her. But now it was her turn to continue what we started. Her turn to give me the answers I needed if she wanted to get hers.. I passed by her, and left the room, never more aware and ready for something that was yet to come. Adam's return. I knew him enough to know the bitterness he had inside him. The need for revenge. I could feel the darkness start to crawl through me with each day that passed. The warning.. It was all happening again. Just this time, it wasn't the winter that was coming. It was a sign for something much greater that not even I was sure if I could control. A sign of something stronger than just Adam. A sign of and danger... War.
