Chapter 169
"Jake go to your room," I told him.
"But-" he tried to counter.
"Go," I cut him off, and he nodded, scurrying away.
"I'd never fking do that and you know it," Jessica said, meeting his intense gaze.
"Do I?" Asmodeus got in his face, "seems I don't really know what your up to these days, huh?" he responded, his jaw clenching and unclenching.
"You have no right to be mad at him for seeing me. I'm not twelve," I cut in, ripping Asmodeus back so that he was looking at me.
"He's an asshole," he said to me, as if it would change my mind.
"Come again?" Jessica glared at him.
"I said you're an asshole," he repeated to Jessica, and now Jessica it was who shoved him back, but Asmodeus continued. "You use people for your own selfish entertainment and then throw them out when you're finished playing with them."
Oh no. Oh no oh no.
I could tell this was about to get really bad. Asmodeus knew exactly what chords to strike and what buttons to press if we wanted to get a rise out of Jessica.
"Funny, I don't think I was using you for entertainment when you lived off of me for three years," Jessica now wore the same dangerous glare as Asmodeus. This time, Asmodeus did scoff.
This is why I needed Carla here.. fking testosterone..
"Get out of my fking house," Asmodeus threatened, the legitimacy in his tone downright frightening.
"Or what?" Jessica stood his place, "last time I checked you wouldn't even have this house without my parents money."
"Last time I checked you wouldn't fking have anything without your parents money. I'd say you should get a job but it seems like you're only capable of spending your time doing your friends' little sisters," Asmodeus walked back up to him, violence promised in his alpha stance.
"You should just go," I said to Jessica and walked up to them, and he reached for me, presumably to decline and push me back away from their dangerous tension that was building. But Asmodeus ripped Jessica's hand away from me aggressively.
"Don't touch her," Asmodeus shoved him again. Jessica let out an aggravated laugh and shook his head, heading for the front door. I followed.
When we were outside, I looked over to see Asmodeus walking out the front door behind us as well. I should have known it wasn't over, though.
"Go cry back to your daddy like usual, I'm sure he-" Jessica cut Asmodeus off, spinning around. For some reason when Asmodeus said this it set Jessica off.
"You know, I feel bad for you," Jessica barked at Asmodeus, his eyes narrowed. At this point we were on the front lawn, not too far from the door.
"Yeah? And why's that?" Asmodeus walked back up to him, arms tensed at his side.
"No- no, you know what? I feel bad for Jake. The poor kid doesn't-" Asmodeus cut him off by punching him. And my hands flew up to my face in shock.
"Asmodeus!" I yelled at him.
Jessica looked back up at Asmodeus, shooting daggers at him with his eyes. Before I could say anything else, Jessica had lunged to go at Asmodeus, but he dodged the punch, and landed another blow on Jessica's jaw.
"Fucking stop!" I screamed at them, the only light coming from the open door and the street light.
"You're just a washed-up womanizer living off of daddy's money," Asmodeus spat. Jessica ignored this comment as he spoke-
"Layla is seventeen. You don't own her-"
"This isn't fking about Layla! I'm not mad at her- she can do whatever the shit she wants! This is about you not being able to keep it in your pants for any girl that breaths and now you're gonna hurt someone I care about because of that," Asmodeus cut him off. "Have you finished convincing her that you're not going to fk and dip like you have with every other girl?" He asked sarcastically, getting in his face again.
"Don't get gross," I warned Asmodeus, but he didn't even glance in my direction as he burned into Jessica's eyes, taller than Jessica by only an inch.
"If that was the case I would have dipped plenty of times by now-" Jessica gave him an ill-intentioned smirk, but Asmodeus shoved him back again and landed a hard punch right to his nose. When Jessica looked back up there was now blood on his face.
"You're a fking prick," Asmodeus growled and Jessica finally landed a punch, the two of them tackling each other to the ground, each drawing blood as they kept going at each other. I continued yelling and screaming at them to stop, feeling utterly helpless since there was nothing I could do to break them up physically.
I needed Kade here, too, goddamnit. What was I supposed to do by myself??
Asmodeus was on top of Jessica on the ground. He landed a second and third punch, but as he drew back to punch him again, he heard the sob escape my lips, and looked up to meet my gaze for the first time this entire time. I pleaded with my eyes for them to stop, and he hesitated for too long. Jessica, not having looked over at me like Asmodeus did, had no idea of this hesitation, and kicked Asmodeus off of him.
Asmodeus was back on his feet and back in fight mode by the time I was over to them. I couldn't just watch- I had to try and do something.
