The Lunar Council.
Chapter Thirty: The Lunar Council.
Aiden opens his eyes, waking up from a rest that seems like forever. “Aldrich”, he whispered, the first name that came to his mind.
“I'm here with you as always, Aiden”, Aldrich was by his side, stroking his hair.
“I feel kinda stronger and…I didn't have any dreams at all. I feel something is wrong”
“I don't think anything is wrong,my love. Moreover, you mostly had nightmares than dream”, Aldrich tries to assure him but Aiden doesn't change his mind.
He felt like he had lost his connection to the Blood Moon lineage. He doesn't mention this to Aldrich, he doesn't want him to worry.
“Maybe I need air. I haven't been at school for awhile, exams is in a week”
Merrick has been kept in a healing chamber under Grants supervisor using spells to speed up his recovery.
Fiona walks in. “How are you holding on, Merrick?”, she hits him close to the cut.
“Ouch, Fiona”, he yelled.
“You will be fine”, she forces a smile at him.
“Fiona, come I got something to tell you”, Grants walks out with Fiona.
“I'm worried about Aiden.”, he says
“But why, do you think anything is wrong with him?”, she asked.
“He might lose himself. We have been pushing him too much, he might break. One thing to another, to many powers at the same time. It's dangerous”
Fiona lets out a deep sigh.
“I understand, Grants. But most times, we don't have a choice”
“He might become something else, that's what I'm worried about”
“Who are you worried about becoming something else?”Aldrich asked, standing behind them.
“Aiden is who I worry about. He might lose himself. You need to protect him and stop him from taking in anymore powers”, Grants replies.
“Aiden is fine, he is the Moon Child. He is stronger than that”
“That's my problem with you, you never take warnings from anyone else. Everyone has a breaking point, Aldrich!”
“Watch your tone, Grants.”, Aldrich snaps.
“Guys, let's not argue. I think Grants is right, Aldrich. Make Aiden focus on something else and stay away from anything related to werewolf world for now”
“What you both think doesn't matter. Aiden is my mate”
A mysterious envoy arrives at the mansion. A blind priestess steps forward with a floating silver scroll.
The scroll was a message from The Lunar Guardians,an ancient council that looks over the moon aligned species. Summoning Aiden and the team to their layer.
Aiden and the team honour their invitation.
“During the Alpha Prime awakening, we felt it here. It's a good thing but that doesn't mean there aren't consequences”, one of the elders says.
“There are problems. Saving the Blood Moon causes some imbalance in the cosmic space. The Moon child bond with the Alpha Prime might cause more distortion and rift between other moon world”
“So what do you suggest to be done? we went through a lot especially the Moon child to keep the Blood Moon alive”, Aldrich asked the council leaders.
“The Moon Child has to return the power of the Alpha Prime.”
Aiden sat by the pond of the Mansion. He's overwhelmed, feels burdened, now he has been asked to return the power of the Alpha Prime which is currently pulsing through him.
He left Aldrich's side, he hated making Aldrich see him lose control.
“Aiden, what's happening to you?”, he heard behind him.
Aldrich followed him,and saw everything that had happened.
“Why would you hide the way you were feeling from me, AIDEN?”
“Have your powers been making you feel some kind of way? Talk to me!”
“I told you that I felt strange but you didn't listen to me and I didn't want to bother you anymore. I'm beginning to feel like a burden”
“You are my mate, you can never be a burden. My role is to protect you even if it costs my life”, he goes closer to hug Aiden.
Aiden pushes him away.
“I'm sorry. I should have listened to you. I would change from now. I promise you Aiden”
He held Aiden's face, using his thumb to brush his cheeks.
“I love you so much, Aiden”, he misses him.
Aiden feels his power slowly stabilize under Aldrich touch.
“Let's go to bed, my love”, Aldrich carries him in his arms into his chamber where they make love.
Everyone was gathered at the dining table, chattering and chatting. Aldrich and Aiden don't hesitate to show affection at the table, making the others roll their eyes.
A maid comes in to deliver a scroll to Aldrich.
Aldrich opens the scroll and reads through.
“It is from the Lunar Guardian council. During the celebration of the restored Blood Moon, a temple priestess is found dead, her eyes were burned and filled with ashes and they want us to investigate this.”
“That's horrific. Who would have done that?”, Aiden says.
“We will start investigating tomorrow. The killer would be out there wanting to claim their next victim”, Aldrich says.
“But Aiden, you are not coming along”
“But why?”, Aiden turns to him.
“Focus on school, we agreed to making you take a break from the team”
“We? Behind my back, really?”,Aiden stood from his seat.
“It's best for you, Aiden. We are watching out for you”, Grants chips in.
“Whatever”, he walks away.
“Aiden! Aiden!”, Aldrich goes after him.
“A sigil is burnt into her neck, this is probably from the killer”, Fiona shows a picture.
“This symbol I have seen somewhere before but I can't just remember where, it's a corrupted lunar mark”, she cracks her head. The image of Prince having it on his hand flashes in her mind, but she dismisses it.
Merrick opens an old prophecy scroll he found in the ruins.
It was written inside:
“When the Prime awakens, the crack shall bleed silver and blood and the moon would have no master.”
“Another faction is rising, I know those words and that scroll symbol even in my dream.”
“The Silver Order, a cult that believes the Alph
a Prime is a fake god. They are going to challenge Aiden's position”, Grants said.
“This is trouble if I might say”, Grants pinches his nose.
