Chapter Seventy

Zeke
And then the scene warped again. I was back on the field in the dimension. Just that this place was different.
I wanted to speak, when the sky split into two. We were back on the battle ground.
“Hello Zeke,” Xavier called out sweetly. “Did you enjoy my new chaos power?”
I lunged at him, making first for his eyes. My claws tore at the flesh beside his nose instead, and I aimed my leg at his stomach.
“Die!” I growled, pushing in my claws deeper and drawing blood. He laughed, and disappeared from my reach. I darted my head to the side, to see him smirking as he leaned against a large dark tree.
“As much as I'd like to stay back and toy with you a little, I have something to tend to.” And then he disappeared in a large wisp of dark smoke.
As if my strength disappeared with him, I fell to the ground. Natasha and Kai rushed over to me. Qyle was the last. I'd caused the dimension to fall apart. I-
“I'm sorry,” I whispered.
“Am I late?” We heard a voice say, and we turned simultaneously to see a familiar face behind us. He was dressed in a gray shirt, and equally gray pants.
“Gwev,” Kai called out in relief. “We need as much help as we can find.”
I smiled at the PantherBrid, before slipping into oblivion.
When I opened my eyes again, I was lying on a soft bed. I stretched my limbs, relishing the feeling, before sitting up. No one was in the room, but I could feel someone's presence.
“You have quite a ravenous appetite. You drank ten bags of blood.” I heard him say before he materialized.
“Gwev,” I said, relaxing a little.
The PantherBrid was just as I remembered him from centuries ago. Freshly handsome, with a muscular build, and a sexual appeal. His blue hair was nicely styled, and matched his blue eyes.
“You refused my invitation,” I added, swinging my legs off the bed, so I could sit on the edge with my legs on the ground.
“I was settling some issues with my people. So, are you a king-in-training now?” He asked, and I knew he was teasing me.
I shook my head. “I'm not sure if I want the position anymore. Besides, you should have heard who the king-in-training is.” I cocked my eyebrow as if daring him to refute.
He didn't. Instead, he pushed off the wall, and went over to the window.
“Where's this place?” I finally asked.
“It's the place we've been preparing for sometime now. A place where Xavier can't find us.” He said.
“We?” I frowned.
“Yes. We knew a war was coming.” He said cryptically, and I wisely chose not to ask him to elaborate.
I nodded. “I see.”
I looked around.
The ceilings were high, and had a gothic touch to it. Five chandeliers hung on it, making the large room more bright than it should be.
“Where are the others?” I asked, pushing to my feet.
I had no time to waste. I needed to get Mirah back as soon as possible.
I'd get her back, kill that asshole, end the whole war, and send her back in time.
She'd hate me, but that was what I'd do.

Mirah
All I could remember was that I'd been about to reach out for Zeke. He'd been at my front, pouring his powers to Kai. But everything changed the next second.
I'd lost my consciousness.
And now, I woke up in a completely different place.
I clutched the edge of the flowery duvet, sniffing for the familiar scent of Xavier. 'Cause I was sure as hell that he was behind all this.
I took a defensive stance when the door opened. I peered over, expecting to see Xavier walk in with that annoying smirk of his, that irritated me to no end.
However, a woman with a kindly face walked in. Her dress flowed down to her ankle, and she walked with grace and poise.
“Who are you?” I managed to ask.
She smiled, and I had to admit that this woman was beautiful. She should be around the age of forty.
“It's good to see that you're alive. We thought you were dead.” She said instead.
I frowned. “Dead? Why?”
“I'm not sure you're ready for that conversation, dear.” She shook her head, and resumed walking towards me.
“I wouldn't suggest taking another step towards me.” I said through gritted teeth.
She paused, and looked me over. But she didn't take another step.
“I told you she was feisty,” A voice said, and someone materialized from the door. I immediately noted his resemblance to the woman before me.
“Kaleb, I told you not to come here.” The woman said reproachfully, turning to look at the young man.
His curly hair lay in abundance over his head, his black eyes twinkling. He wasn't as muscular as Zeke, and wasn't quite as handsome either. But he was good looking in a roguish kind of way.
“Sorry, Mother. I wanted to join the conversation.”
I watched their exchange, while studying the layout of the room with a side eye, so I could escape once it boiled down to it.
“Thinking of escaping? That wouldn't be possible, Destined.” He winked.
Destined?
His mother glared at him, and he raised both hands in mock surrender.
“Sorry,” he mouthed.
His mother turned to me once more. “Why don't you freshen up, Mirabella? We'll talk about what happened, later on.” She said, a gentle smile masking her face.
I relaxed a bit, and considered her words. I was hungry, and weak. I could make do with some hot bath, and some food.
I nodded. “Okay.”
The woman turned to Kaleb. “Lead her to the bathroom.” Then she turned and left.
Kaleb winked at me. “Ready for your bath, Milady?”
“Don't call me names,” I breathed harshly, throwing my legs off the bed, and standing to my feet.
Yeah, I honestly felt weak. And my mind felt muddled.
I followed him out of the white room, down a long hallway which was lit up brightly. I studied Kaleb's back features, then turned to study the expensive looking walls.
“Where's this place?” I asked out loud.
“Paradisia. We are Evens.” He said, and I blinked.
