Chapter 54 Chapter Fifty-Four
Chapter Fifty-Four

                   Mirah

I blushed and looked down. My eyes widened in realization that I was still naked. I'd been carried away by the kiss. I embarrassedly tried to grab at the duvet in an effort to cover myself, but his firm hand held me in place.

“What part of you haven't I seen?” he whispered close to my ears, and my skin pebbled.

“Pervert,” I muttered beneath my breath.

“Only for you.” His breath fanned the shell of my ears, and I couldn't help but moan.

I tried moving again, my ass unintentionally grinding against his erection.

“You need to stop moving, Kitten. I'm sure you wouldn't like us to cancel our plans, though I'd like it so much.” His voice held a warning note to it.

I stopped moving alright, and he gently placed me on the bed. He was naked, down to the waist too. Fucking pervert.

“If you continue looking at me like that, I'd take it that you want us to spend the whole day in bed.” He wasn't looking at me, but I blushed all the same.

“Who told you to be so good looking?” I thought aloud.

His laugh made me realize that my thoughts hadn't been inward. I buried my face into the sheets.

“Only the best for my lady.” He laughed again.

Hearing the sound of his laugh stirred a part of me. I couldn't describe how it made me feel, but I knew I felt relaxed.

“Go away,” I said, my voice muffled by the sheets.

“As you wish, Kitten.” He was halfway to the door, when my phone rang. It was on the bedside table.

I groaned as I reached for it. “Prolly Nessa,” I said aloud for the benefit of Zeke who was now looking at me.

But when I glanced at the screen of my phone, a frown crept up my face.

“Who's it?” Zeke asked in a voice that induced chills.

“My mother.” I received the call, and placed it close to my ears.

“Were you going to take forever to respond?” My mother's prim voice snapped from the other end.

I forced myself to remain calm. “Sorry, Mother.”

I looked up at Zeke who had a look that could kill, on his face.

“Why-” I began saying, when she cut me off abruptly.

“Come home, this instant.”

I sighed.  I was going nowhere.

“I can't -”

“Kathryn has been abducted.” She said, and my words caught in my throat.

I suddenly found it hard to breathe. “W-what are you talking about?” My voice subconsciously lowered.

“Come home.” She simply said, and hung up.

Zeke was now moving close to me. “Talk to me, what did she say?”

Tears brimmed in my eyes, as my hands shook. “M-my sister has been abducted.”

I spared no time to think, as I clambered down the bed. “I'm going back home.”

“I'll go with you.” Zeke volunteered without hesitation.

I faced him. “You can't -”

“I'm coming with you, Mirah.” He said determinedly, and my shoulders hung tiredly.

“Okay.” I whispered.

Our family's residence was just as I remembered it. Completely devoid of warmth.

Guards littered every corner as always, and the servants all stood in a straight file in the large living room. I felt Zeke's hands hold my wrists reassuringly, reminding me that I wasn't alone.

“You're here,” my mother's smile froze on her lips, when her gaze darted towards a cold-faced Zeke.

She didn't get to speak, when my father came inside.

Alongside Kathryn.

Words choked in my throat, and a disbelieving look made its way up my face.

“What's the meaning of all these?” I asked in a cracked voice.

My father ignored me, his focus on Zeke. “And who's this person?”

“Someone you'd regret crossing.” Zeke said, and in spite of myself, chills ran down my spine.

My father's face darkened, but before he could say a word, I stepped forward taking a protective stance before Zeke.

“Don't move.” I said.

Pausing more because of surprise, than my words, my parents and sister effectively froze in place.

I gave them no time to recover before I continued. “Kathryn wasn't abducted? Did you lie to me, Mother?” I faced her.

There was no iota of remorse on their faces.

“You're here now. I'm willing to overlook your past mistakes, so you can feel comfortable.” My father said, implying he was doing me a favor.

“Father, Mother, I think you guys are delusional.” I flared up.

“Lying about my sister's abduction, and saying you've forgiven me when clearly I'm the one who'd been wronged, are clearly symptoms of delusion. And I'm done with this.” I turned to Zeke.

“Let's go.”

He nodded, and grabbed my hand. I caught his glare at my parents.

“You'd do no such thing. You must think we're fools, to believe we went through all that trouble to get you here, just to watch you leave without doing our bidding.” My father's voice halted my steps.

I turned slowly, my hand still clasped with Zeke's.

“And who'd stop me?” I asked brazenly.

“Surround them!” My father called out, a cold smile on his face.

My stomach dropped. I should've known. It was a trap, all along.

Hanging my shoulders in defeat, with tears threatening to fall down my cheeks, I stared directly into his eyes.

“Why are you doing all these?” I dropped all warmth. He didn't deserve it. None of them did.

“You're our daughter, Mirabella,” he scoffed. “Hand over the contract document.” He said to my mother who gave an envelope to him.

I watched as he pulled out a document.

“This is a contract agreement, drawn between our family and the Aurels.”

My body went numb, as I could picture where the conversation was heading to.

“What is it about?” I asked softly.

“Your marriage of course. Since you don't want to do this the simple way, we went through some trouble to sign it on your behalf.” And he flashed me that sick smile of his again.

Blood roared in my ears. “On my behalf? What are you talking about?”

“Can't you see? You're officially an Aurel. You're married to Jayden.” My mother said.

“Nonsense. What the hell are you talking about?” I couldn't make sense of his words at all.

“Language, Mirabella!” My father snapped.

“Oh, don't you dare say a word to me about language. This is illegal, and has no recognition in face of the law.” I knew it was pointless arguing with them, but I did it anyway.

Because deep down, I sought and longed for the warm and understanding family I'd grown up with. These people were strangers, blinded by greed.

“Don't be a brat, Mirabella. Father is doing you a favor. We all are. And it's time you own up to your responsibilities and help Father save our company.” Kathryn said in an unfeeling manner.
