“What nonsense?” He repeated. “Are you in cohort with him?” He continued blabbing, gesturing at Zeke.
The whispers grew louder. My lips parted to speak, but Zeke spoke first.
“You should leave while I'm in a good mood.” He warned. Jayden didn't budge. He was probably banking on the fact that we were in a public place, and Zeke wouldn't dare to hurt him.
If only he knew.

“You're causing a scene.” I said through gritted teeth. The man beside me was moments away from losing it.
“Oh, I'm causing a scene?” He lowered his head. “You do realize I'm the only one who can help you, right? I'm doing you a favor, by seeking you out at a place like this.” Jayden snorted. I hated it whenever I was put in a tight spot. Especially by someone I loathed so much to the point that I wouldn't care if he fell off a building.

“I told you to fucking stay away from her.” That was the last thing I heard before the lights went off. A hand lifted me, and threw me over his shoulders.
I heard the sound of punches and grunts, in the darkness, and my stomach dropped. But I wasn't afraid like the time I'd been abducted.
And that was because I knew Zeke was present. He'd never let anything happen to me.

A soft lull pulled me, and I began losing consciousness.

“Where are we?” I ventured to ask.
