Dinner
Before this time, Rune had never had the opportunity to prepare food in a kitchen like the one he was currently in. With such a large selection of things at his disposal, he had trouble choosing what to cook for Leslie. He was well aware that Leslie didn't approve of his plan to cook, but he was adamant that he would go through with it because it was something he really wanted to do. Leslie had been cooking for them regularly since they met and he believed it was about time she tasted something he had prepared. Even though he wasn't nearly as excellent a cook as Leslie, he could still make a good dinner when needed.
After considering what he could create for Leslie, he decided that for the first time he would cook for Leslie, he would make something simple, but still amazing.
. . . .
It was impossible for Rune to tell from Leslie's expression what she thought of the meal he had cooked. As he was concerned about Leslie's reaction to the food he had prepared for her, he hoped that Leslie would enjoy it and find nothing wrong with it. Even though he had a lot of ideas for what to cook for dinner, he kept it fairly simple and created a variety of cupcakes, chicken, and appetizer. It was a meal that brought back fond memories of when he was at home with his parents. It was also something that his father prepared and it was something that Rune learned to make and became skilled at. As a result, he wanted to share it with Leslie, hoping that she would enjoy all the flavors put into the fillings she had chosen. "I hope you like it."
"How are you so sure I'm not allergic to any of the ingredients you used to make this meal?" Leslie asked as she sat down, her eyes wandering over the food in front of her.
Rune was taken aback by her question, but as a thought popped into Rune's mind, he was able to answer without a doubt, "I should have asked that before preparing our food. An ingredient in your home that you are allergic to, especially if you cook all the time. If for some reason I have used something you are allergic to please let me know so I can make changes but again I find it hard to believe that an intelligent person like you would keep something you are allergic to in your home for when you live here alone."
"Good." That was the only thing Leslie mustered the strength to say. She then began assembling the meal by selecting components from the trays.
Rune looked at her, wondering what was going through her mind, but didn't say anything because he didn't know what to say. He was grateful that Leslie was eating what he had prepared and interpreted Leslie's silence as a sign that the meal was well received. However, when the silence became unbearable for Rune, he decided to start asking questions. "So I'm curious. Did you decide to be a sugar mommy for some reason?"
"No." Leslie quickly replied and continued eating despite the interruption.
Rune sighed, "So you-"
"Where did you learn to make cupcakes?"
"My dad taught me how to make it. I know they are simple, but I wanted to make it."
"There's nothing straightforward or easy about it. It might be easy for you to make, but it might not seem that way to others. I had no idea you were so skilled in the kitchen. What other things can you do?"
