Hope

Hope
He looked up, wiping the saliva from his face, then he slapped me.

The force of it sent my ears ringing.

“I would have you know this only once. Obedience” he said, coming down close to me again that there was barely any space between us. “That would be your ticket out of this nightmare you have just landed yourself into, beware of that” he said, his eyes no longer having that sexual predator look in his eyes, but instead looking like he was ready to kill.

He looked me up to down one last time before he left the room, leaving me all alone, gripping my face, still in shock.

Minutes, possibly hours passed while I sat on the floor, thinking of what just happened then a door came at the door.

My eyes snapped to the door, no one came to visit me… well Darius and the pervert I still hadn’t gotten the name of had come to visit me.

But no one who came to visit me needed permission to knock on the door, so it stunned me for a moment.

The knock came again, as though waiting for my permission to enter, which was a little more strange than the first knock.

“E..enter?” I asked more than demanded. I mean it was their house anyways, why did I need to give them permission to enter THEIR house?

The door opened rather hesitantly, making my heart race a bit before

It revealed a girl. She looked no older than me.

“L..lor…d Da…rr..ius re…qques…teddd th…at I b…bb..be your p…ppp…pla..y thing” I looked at her once, then twice.

She looked like her nerves were being wrecked from the inside out as she spoke, more like stammered. In a way, it warmed my heart a bit.

Her fear made it easy to want to talk to her. ‘A person who is afraid of you can’t hurt you.. right?’ I thought, looking at the girl in front of me

“I’m Mika” I said, giving her a smile.

“I… I a…m A…a…Ari…a” she struggled to say out. I felt another jab in my chest.

“Do you stammer out of fear or is this natural for you?” I cocked my head to the side as I spoke.

“N…n..na..tu… ral” I nodded.

I opened my mouth to say something else, but then the door swung open, causing her to practically fly from one side of the room to another, trying to use me as a human shield.

“You stupid girl” the woman said, looking at her with burning hate. “Why are you here with this…” she finally looked at me, addressing me with so much spite that even I had to flinch from her burning stare.

“L…l..lo..rd… dar..”

“I told you to always speak right!!” She said, using a metal rod to strike her.

Aria screamed out in pain. Her knees giving out as she screamed.

“You will not disgrace me anymore than you already do!” She said, hitting her again with more force than before. “Do you hear me?” She said amidst the screams of Aria.

I stood motionless, watching the scene unfold. Who would be this wicked? I thought, looking at the woman before she finally got her fill of hitting her. “Pathetic! Can’t even shift at will! Even with the help of heightened emotions. Such a disgrace to me” she spat, kissing her teeth as she left the room.

As soon as I was sure that the woman had finally gone, I rushed to the girl that laid on the floor.

“H-hey” I called, tapping her gently as she laid on the floor, as though she was going to convulse at any given moment. “h-hey!” I called again, hoping that she was still alive because I did not think I was going to be able to stomach seeing any dead body at the moment. Luckily for me, she moved, trying and failing to sit up right, but it proved impossible till I helped her.

“Who..who the fuck was that” I said looking over my shoulder as I spoke in case she came back and wanted to give a part two of the beating.

“M-my s-ttt-ep m-uuuu-m she tried to get out.” I looked at her before looking back at the door as though she was there, ready to hit her again with the rod.

“Why would your step mum do that? Why would she hit you like that?” She looked at me for a minute before she stood up, stumbling a bit before she finally made it to the door and out of the room.

“Wow” I said, thinking for a split second, that she left or something, but she came back. In her hand was a notepad and a pencil.

She looked at me for a minute as though deciding what to say then she started to write “I am what you wound call a dragonet” she wrote down.

“What does that even mean?” I said, looking up from the book at her.

“a runt” she wrote down “along side my speech impediments. It’s no wonder I am a disgrace to the family” she wrote the last part down a little bit hesitantly.

“I don’t think you are” I said, causing her to snap up at me. “And honestly, your speech thing is not going to be an issue if you work on it”

The more I spoke, the more it felt as though her eyes were lightening up

A little bit of hope.’ I thought, looking at the girl who looked, just a few seconds ago like her world was broken suddenly looking excited for something.

“We can start-“ I did not get the chance to finish what I wanted to say because the door swung open.

“Prince Valarrak seeks your presence” the person, more like a guard, who had practically broken into the room said, dragging me out not even giving me the chance to refuse or go willingly.

I fought against his hold, but obviously, it was pointless as he was by far stronger than me

‘Who is going to give me hope?’ I thought, screaming both inside my head and out loud, not wanting to dragged around like a sac of grains…
