He's going to die in my hands

He's going to die in my hands
Travis's POV

My hands dropped as I waited for her response. Why wasn't she saying anything? Making it seem like she was with him. Of course she was with him in the fucking photo. She steps forward and tears roll from her eyes.

“Answer me!”

“Listen, I don't know what your father has done or told you, but I swear, I didn't do anything? I didn't.”
She started sobbing uncontrollably.

“Then explain this.” My voice was low, but my chest heaved.

“It's a good thing you know now. Listen, your Dad has been threatening me and stalking me since the month started. I swear.”

“But you're hugging him here. Hillary, I am not blind okay? Don't take me for a fool. Read the fucking caption.” I gave her the phone and she covered her mouth in shock while her eyes scanned through..

“It's a lie. All of em. Nothing is true here. Nothing is real! I swear, please, let me explain.”

“Go ahead. Because I need answers. Our wedding is tomorrow."

“Listen to me. Ever since the day we….since the day we had sex in your office….”

My body floods with warmth.

“ …..I remember when I went out to get lunch but then, I ran into your father. He told me to have lunch with him that there's something important he wants to tell me. I did ….and…”

“Why the fuck?....” I dragged the ‘k’ would you go out with my father when you knew you were working.”

She sniffed. “I'm sorry. He insisted and I followed him. While we got there, he kept on saying I should stay away from you. I'm not the perfect match for you and terrible things. He also went as far as saying I should name any amount to take from him just to stay away from you…”

I frowned. “How do I know you're telling the truth? It seems like you're making this up because if you're not, you should have told me since!” Driven by my anger, I swung my hands and threw the glass cup on the table. It shattered beside her and she screamed, stepping away from the corner.

I hated how I was becoming violent. But I couldn't help myself. I couldn't help it.

“Because he threatened to release my Dad from prison!” She yelled and pushed me hard on my chest.

“What the hell is your problem? Huh? You think you can just barge in here, destroying my stuff without waiting for my explanation?”

I just stayed quiet. I wanted to confirm the truth.

“Your father said we would have his top lawyers work on the case and my father would be out if I don't stay away from you. I was scared so I didn't tell you. That wasn't enough. He continued to put more pressure and almost ran over me with his car on the day of the campaign.”

“What?”

“So I was fed up, I thought that distancing myself from you would change his mindset. It's also why I choose to quit being your assistant. I needed space so he wouldn't see us together always. I just thought it would work out well until the day he showed up at my door on your birthday. I thought it was you and I rushed there. I swear, I don't know how he knows that I'm staying in Battery Park City. I don't know. I just saw him. He…..he violated me. He pushed me. He handled me with force. He beat me with my own frame. He punched me.”

She points to her face that was slightly bruised the other day.

“This was his doing okay? He did this. I just lied because…..” she sucks in.. “because I was too scared. In fact, that wasn't enough for him. He tried to assault me. Beat me up well and stood me up, trying to kiss me. I struggled to keep off from his grip but he was too strong. That's what that picture is about. It's not what it seems like. He was forcing himself on me. He set up a camera on purpose all because he wanted to frame me and use me to make you think that we're seeing each other. But that……that's not true.”

She fell on the sofa, her tears poured out more. “It's why I rushed to the wedding, Travis. I was confused and scared. My initial plan was that, if we get married quickly, your dad would stop disturbing me……”

My shoulders slumped as I watched my girlfriend break down miserably.

“Oh my gosh.” I paced the room..

“That caption is very fake. None of it is true. I didn't tell him anything and I have no sexual or dirty intentions towards your own Father.”

I walked towards her and knelt.

“My father tried to rape you?” I asked. “He beat you up. Oh my gosh.” I bent my head like a failed boyfriend. I wasn't there to save her or predict her demons she was facing.

“It's the truth. It really is? If you think I'm lying I can show you evidence.” She stood up and went inside her room, coming back she held her phone and a card. I read the card. It had my father's details inside. Trent Lancaster and his phone number.

“He gave it to me to call him once I leave you. He wanted me to travel far away. Away from New York. So after I left your house, I thought I could fool him to make him think I really left. I called him and I recorded it. She pressed her phone and my father's voice went through. My blood was hot and my hands balled into a fist. I heard what he said, telling Hillary to quit the job and leave me alone or he won't stop.
The audio had finished playing and I sat helplessly on the floor.

“Do you understand now? I was just scared. I would never do that to you.” She wiped her tears. “He's just lying."

“Hillary, I'm ……I'm so sorry, I…. didn't even know. I…should have urged you more to tell me what's going on. I'm so stupid and….I failed. He beat you. He hurt you and almost raped you. God.” I punched the floor, my head was full of how I'd beat my Father into a pulp. How dare he try to do something like that?
My own girlfriend. My eyes blazed with fury and I stood up.

“Where are you going?” She asks. I closed my eyes and tried to be gentle.

“Hey, I'm so sorry for misunderstanding the whole fucking thing.” I cupped her face into my hands. “I'm so sorry. I shouldn't have released my anger on you after everything you've been through. I'm so sorry for what you faced and I have no idea how he got to know about this new place. He's going to pay.”

I stood up.

“Where are you going?” She asks, worried.

“To teach him a lesson.”
