Celebrate now, cry later

Celebrate now, cry later
Hillary's POV

“Whoa, your house looks like a mess.” Travis joked and I stood still. He looked round. But I remained still, slowly closing the door. This was done by your father.
He grabs my waist and his jaw rests on my shoulder. “Work is so boring without you.” He whispered and I nodded.

“Oh. Is that so?”

That was all I said. I was hoping for a way that he wouldn't look at me too much to notice the mark on my face but that would be impossible.

My living room was indeed a mess. Messed up. Everything was in disorder and tampered with.
Because of Mr Trent. I was scattering up for something to defend myself with but he was smarter.

“Are you fine?” He looks into my eyes. “Oh, fuck!” He exclaimed. “How did I not see your face..what happened, who punched you?” His anger began to rise and I sighed.

“Some girl at the shopping mall.” I formulated a lie. I don't know what the fuck is going on with Me. I acted like I'm having a Disability in telling the truth.

“What do you mean?” He pulled me closer, full of concern and pity and his hands touching my cheeks. I always loved his presence here.

“I was dragging over chocolate with her. She claimed it's hers but it was mine. Long story, short story but she started with violence but I'm fine now.” I claimed.

“You're not okay? I'm going to get the girl who hurt you.”

I managed a smile. “It's fine.”
He sits me to clean and suppress the pain I felt there, applying ice just the way I did for him the other day at the mansion.

“You went shopping? What did you get?

“Yes, to bake for you.”

“Really?”

“Did you forget? I know you did. It's your birthday.”

He laughs. “Yeah, it is. So, where's it?” He hugged me. “Your lingerie is torn, I'll get you a new one……or did you do it on purpose to please me?” He kisses me all over my neck.

“Maybe.” I responded. “Wait here.” I smiled and headed into the kitchen. The 29 Number that I placed there was now mishandled. That stupid man with a stupid brain definitely did this. I arranged it quickly and held it on a tray.

“Wow.” Travis was amazed. The amount of happiness I kept on putting on despite the pain I felt in my body.

“Happy birthday, baby.” I smiled and placed the cake with its board. He hugged me tighter and I could barely breathe.

“Awwwn , this is very nice. I love it.” He detached, very excited for my thoughtful little surprise.

“You're welcome.” I drove the knife through, to slice. The cake came out so nice. I was proud of myself, even Travis was.

“I'm going to miss this and I'm looking forward to more birthdays to come with you in it.”

He kissed me. But I knew I was tired. What if we're no longer together by next birthday? Aside from that, my mind had already been replaced with a bad, sorrowful, men are wicked type of mindset because of what his father did. Even if I wasn't raped. He definitely was one of them. He attempted , so which means he could still do it again if he wanted to.

“My wife to be.” Travis kissed my wrist and I smiled.

Wife to be? Marriage in this time of tension?
I just pretended like I was happy, deep down, it was a storm out there.

“It's very yummy.” Travis said with his mouth full. I was flattered by his smile which melted my heart. He looked very cute and innocent. This was something I wanted to see everyday. Maybe if we somehow rushed the marriage, his father would disappear permanently knowing we are already husband and wife.

“Um, Travis?”

“Yeah?”

“Can we fix the wedding for tomorrow already?” I felt my hands trembling because I was looking forward to D-Day.
The cake went down his throat, he looked at me, ducking his chin.

“Someone's in a haste.” He drops the plate and grabs me softly. “Tell me about it. Why the rush?”

“Because I want it as quick as possible. Can you arrange that?”

He looks up to think. “Yes, I can but calm down, I haven't even proposed yet.”

I groaned. “It doesn't matter. Just propose already.” I slumped my shoulder.

“I need to get a ring. And shit. This isn't the way I wanted it to go. It's supposed to be a surprise. You're not supposed to know anything.”

“We'll do that tomorrow. Get a pastor and ring. I swear, I don't mind how cheap and fast the whole thing is, as long as your Dad finds out we're married afterwards.”

“Why is this about my Dad? I don't understand?” His eyes were full of doubt and I had to bottle it up.

“I mean, your parents ... .both of em. We need to let them know we are married when we get married so they won't object to our relationship anymore. That's exactly what you said right?”.

“Yeah.”

“See? That's what I'm saying.”

“Fine, I'll arrange for it. Whatever you want.” He carries my hand in his palm and raises my Ring finger.

“Great. I know your size.” He mentioned, sadly.

“What's wrong?” I tiptoed to reach his height but I still didn't, so I just stretched, placing my arms on his shoulders.

“You have no idea on how I wanted everything to be. Grand, huge, overly expensive and amazing.”

“How about this? We get married, just white wedding tomorrow and later on, the reception would be later….as long as your parents—”

“As long as they approve. I know. I know.” He finally agrees. I dropped my heels to the floor and rested my head on his chest, his hands wrapped around my waist. We shared a very warm hug. Later I had a feast on the cake. Travis said it was his best birthday ever.
