Travis birthday plan
Travis birthday plan
Hillary's POV
After minutes of pointless arguments, we both give up on the conversation. He sprawled his hands on my sofa, obviously tired of my excuses. I leaned on the wall and refused to look at his face. The silence was deafening and awkward.
“You know I feel like you're keeping things away from me.”
Travis finally speaks. “You, deciding to rent, it seems like you…..” he stops and takes a deep breath. “You don't love me anymore?” He whispers.
I pushed myself from the wall, startled by his accusatory mentality.
“Hey, don't ever say that again. I do.” I sat with him on the sofa.
“Then, what's going on?”
I swallowed, nervously thinking hard of whatever excuse to give. He moved closer and brushed my hair with his fingers.
“Talk to me.”
“Okay. You want me to tell the truth?” I murmured.
“Yes.”
“Fine. The real truth is ….I'm not avoiding you. I love you. I chose to stay alone due to personal reasons, which is um, taking my own space. That's why you think I feel distant…well, um, also….” I inhaled and exhaled, then continued. “You said I've been going on and off during work times. Yeah. I know I know it's very noticeable for you to already notice which is good—I mean which is very bad…no it's good and then, it's bad..No, no, no. It's a good thing…….”
“Relax okay?” He placed his hands on my shoulders and I nodded.
“I think I'm tired. I'm really sorry. I'm tired of being your assistant. I don't want to work ..” my eyes brow fell.
“Then, why didn't you say that?”
“Well, I…Hey, listen up, it's not because I'm your girlfriend and I feel whatsoever entitled, I just need a breather from work. I'm stressed, I'm overwhelmed, I'm sinking, I'm lagging….I….”
He shut me up with a kiss.
I closed my eyes to surrender and our kiss was steady and slow.
“I thought you didn't object to the job because you've liked it ever since and you were good at what you do. You know, it's always been your passion since I knew you.”
Of course it still is.
“I'm sorry.”
“It doesn't mean anything. You can take a break from now till whenever, it's just that, I love your own way of handling work. It's very good but I can't force you and I won't. It's all on you. I won't force my girlfriend to keep on doing something that stresses her.”
“Thank you.”
I leaned in to give him a hug and he embraced me passionately. The fact that everything I narrated was totally a lie was burning me inside.
“I love you so much.”
“I love you too.” I replied. Truly. Maybe this would make this father think I'm staying away from him totally.
“So, I'm going to stay here with you for the night, okay?”
I nod. “Perfect.”
He pulled my cheeks and I blushed.
“So, um, remember what I said….. about marriage. Us, getting married.”
My heart leapt.
“Well, I've been thinking about it.”
“Ohh.”
“What type of wedding setup do you want? Shit….” He slaps his head with his hands.
“What?”
“This feels wrong when I haven't proposed.”
“It's not bad. Really. Besides, you were asking what kind of wedding I liked?”
“Yeah.”
“I really don't want something big and wild. I don't want your father to find out we're getting married, not even social media should know. I want it low-key please.” I begged and he sighed.
“Please, remember when you told me that our marriage would be the only thing to convince your Dad to not interfere in our love life? Yeah, I feel we should make it small, you know, so he doesn't know and so he doesn't try to do anything crazy by stopping us or something.” I shrugged and he nodded .
“Is that what you want? What do you really want?”
“Yes.” I bowed my head. “I'm really sorry If it's not going to be big and mighty and screaming luxury and a mountain of cake with all that Rich people kind of vibes.”
He laughed. “It doesn't mean anything. Honestly, deep down, I don't like too much enclosed to the public. I prefer to be private, so it doesn't mean anything.”
He assured me and we kissed. How we would plan the wedding next week and blah blah blah. Good. As long as his father doesn't know about it.
Travis spent the evening at my home. I prepared dinner and we ate together, even had sex..yeah, I needed that. He couldn't sleep over because he complained he had work to do, so we said our goodbyes and he left. I went back in, with my retentive memory of his birth which was tomorrow.
I scribbled down with my biro, cake ingredients I had to buy from a supermarket. I want to surprise him tomorrow. There'll also be drinks made by myself. Homemade and other snacks.
That night, I slept with a two sided heart. One full of fear and the other happiness. I haven't received any unknown caller which I already assumed would be Travis' father and that was good. If he's still stalking me, he won't see me in Caster company or Travis house. This was my only dependence that he would think I'm away from Travis.
I went to bed early.
The sunshine snuck through the curtains and I rose happily. Opened the curtains and looked at the amazing view beneath. It was beautiful. I went back to have breakfast, preparing for the big day. Then, I washed up, put on a nice dress and left my apartment.
I loved how peaceful the waters and lake looked. Perfect for taking aesthetic pictures and the grass, your picnic would definitely go well.
The taxi took me to the nearest shopping mall as directed. I made payment and found my way in the mall.
While I selected some flavours from a row, my back hit against someone and we both turned.
“I'm sorry.” I tried to apologize but was in shock to see the person.
“Jason?”
