Chiffon
One week had turned to two, Yaren had resumed classes but she'd avoided the professor and everything about him like her life depended on it. She managed to naviagte her way around the campus smoothly to avoid him. She wasn't sure how she was going to do it, but she was determined to avoid him for the rest of her stay in St. Aldwyns.
She’d transferred a significant amount of money home last week for her mother’s medical bills and also everything else, and she'd saved some for herself though she hadn't wanted to at all; saving some for herself made her feel more of a charity case.
Despite being relived about her mom's surgery, Yaren was still very much bothered about everything else; she’d been perpetually distracted during classes and she spent almost every hour of every day trying not to cry,
Jasmine was glad to have her back, but even she had noticed she'd changed a bit, she'd assumed it was all due to the illness and she hadn't pressed though she was visibly disturbed by it.
It was 5:00 PM when the redhaired professor finally ended her class and left. Yaren gathered her things quickly with the intention of slipping out quickly like she'd been doing for the past one week, but Petrov's voice stopped her.
"Yaren, wait up."
She didn't want to, she didn't want to talk and she didn't want company. But she forced on a smile and slowed her steps so he could catch up.
"Rough day?" he asked, noticing the look in her eyes.
She shook her head quickly, maybe too quickly. But then, she wasn't just having a rough day, she was on the brink of being completely depressed. "Just tired."
"How are you feeling? Are you sure it's okay for you to be attending classes?" He asked, she could see the concern in his eyes, she could hear it in his tone. But she felt suffocated right now, she just needed to be alone.
"I'm a lot better now, I'll be fine." She replied quietly.
"Let me buy you dinner," he offered. "I can drop you at the dorm after. Save you the walk."
But she needed the walk, she needed to clear her mind, she needed to be alone.
"No, thank you," she said almost immediately. "I'd rather walk, really. I need the air. And I'm not hungry."
He slowed his pace, studying her. She was wearing a thin, beige chiffon blouse that offered no warmth, paired with a midi checkered skirt which revealed less of her legs than the shorter skirts would. But she didn't mind that it was a bit breezy this evening, she didn't mind that her top would do little to protect her if the temperature dropped any more than it was.
He probably noticed she wasn't quite herself because he his steps slowed and he stopped, placing a gentle hand on her shoulder. "You've been really gloomy lately, Yaren. I know you said you were unwell, but are you sure everything is fine?"
She forced herself to meet his eyes, having someone ask her that made her want to cry but she couldn't possibly cry now. "Yeah, everything is fine. Just studying too much, I guess."
He looked unconvinced, but he was a gentleman he decided to respect her. "Alright. Call me if you need anything at all, or if you just want to talk."
He'd heart clenched. He was so sweet and he cared about her so much, she hated the fact that she was making him worry, and also the fact that she truly couldn't help herself.
"I will. Thanks, Petrov." She replied quietly. "Bye."
"Bye Yaren."
She turned and continued walking, she made her way passed the parking lot and headed for the dormitory. She was too lost in her thoughts to hear the sky rumbling quietly and to notice swollen dark clouds gathering above.
Then It happened abruptly, one moment the she was lost in thought, and the next, a fierce gust of wind whipped her hair across her face dragging her back to the present. The first heavy drops of rain began to fall with no preamble at all, and within seconds, the downpour intensified.
"Come on." She gasped. She couldn't believe this was actually happening.
Expectedly, her thin chiffon blouse offered zero protection. It clung instantly, turning translucent and icy cold against her skin. She gasped at the sudden, sharp chill, she was getting wey so quickly and she was really cold now.
Her head whooped around as she frantically looked for cover, she spotted the stone facade of the old library across the street, and her steps quickened and she began to run, but she was already completely wet before she made it halfway.
She stopped on getting there, and she couldn't help but shiver violently as the winds blew against her mercilessly. She cursed under her breath as goosebumps spread across her arms, she was freezing.
Her glasses had water all over the lenses and she could hardly see clearly, she yanked them off almost irritatedly but only caused water to get into her eyes. She blinked sharply to clear her vision to no avail.
"Yaren."
Her head snapped up only when she heard her name being called by an all too familiar voice. She didn't want to believe it but her breath hitched and her heart fell to the pit of her stomach immediately.
The professor was here, and she hadn't even noticed his black Mercedes had stopped in front of the old library.
He was behind the wheel, his window lowered just enough to speak. He looked as flawless and imposing as ever, completely unshaken by the weather, which was a stark contrast to her drenched, shivering state.
At that moment, every logical thought screamed for her to run, to turn around and just run off just to avoid talking to him, to avoid being alone with him. But her legs refused to comply, they were rooted to the spot.
She just stood there with rainwater streaming down her face, mixing with what might have been fresh tears from her eyes. Her body began to remember everything; the firmness of his hold, the demanding pressure of his mouth, the hardness that had pressed between her thighs, his tongue in her mouth.
It made her body shudder as the pit of her stomach began heating up.
"Get in," he ordered when she met his gaze.
She shook her head though it was a barely perceptible movement. "No. I... I can walk." Her voice barely sounded at all, she knew she sounded pathetic, but she laso knew it wasn't a good idea to be enclosed in that small space with him.
He didn't argue, he just repeated the order, more clearly now. "Get in. Now."
Yaren knew better than to try to argue now, she knew better than to trying to come up with excuses. She moved as smoothly as her cold and trembling body would let her. She fumbled with the sleek door handle and she realized her hand was shaking so much.
Nonetheless, she pulled the door open and slid onto the plush leather seat, she shut the door and just like that, the rain was locked out. Inside the car was warm and dark, it was cozy and it would have calmed her if her nerves weren't on fire at the moment.
She was shivering and trembling so badly now, her blouse was pasted to her skin, her nipples were so hard they looked through her bra and were visible through the thin, soaked chiffon.
She wrapped her arms around her chest, trying to stave off the chill, she kept her gaze ahead at the dashboard. She could even bring herself to greet him or make a sound.
The professor didn't say anything either. He simply put the car in drive and pulled back onto the main campus road.
He was heading back to the university's main quad, which wasn't far, but the rain was increasing, making the trip feel endless.
Yaren's nerves were wrecked. She felt like a can of beer which had been shakes badly; she felt like she was going to blow anytime now.
He drove past the main administrative building and pulled into the secluded staff's parking lot, a covered area reserved for senior faculty. The engine cut out, and the only sound was the drip of water from the roof and her own shallow breathing.
Was he taking her to his office?
He opened his door and got out, and she watched wide-eyed as he made his way around the car and pried her the door to her side open.
"Out," he said.
She was trembling so much now, so much that it was definitely visible. She slid out onto the dry concrete, pulling her wet clothes away from her skin to regain some modesty.
"Let's go." He ordered just as he began heading into the building towards his office. Yaren had forgotten how to breathe now.
