Chapter 66 College Offer
Genesis's POV
Fuck me?
Just thinking about it made me feel scared.
I didn't understand why Eli was so obsessed with this. I didn't know how to stop him either.
I quietly calculated the timing. Once I got my offer from Novien University of Technology, I'd leave for Novien immediately. I wouldn't wait for prom.
Plenty of classmates who applied for spring admission were already preparing to go abroad. They wouldn't attend prom either. It was pretty common.
I turned and walked away. I didn't want to respond to Eli's comment.
No matter how much I refused, he never cared about my opinion anyway. Better to say nothing at all.
I didn't understand why he thought we were dating. What kind of couple would be like us?
Eli grabbed my wrist. "Wait for me. Why are you being shy again?"
I ignored him. Eli continued, "Looks like we need more intimate contact. That way you'll gradually get used to it."
I yanked my hand back forcefully, covered my ears, and walked quickly toward the school gate.
Eli hurried to catch up, grabbing my wrist with his right hand. His face was full of helplessness. "Okay, I won't say it anymore."
Only then did I slow down. Eli muttered something under his breath. I didn't catch it and looked at him in confusion.
"I noticed your phone and laptop are pretty old. How about I get you new ones as graduation gifts?" Eli said.
I hadn't expected him to notice that.
My phone and laptop were hand-me-downs from Maria five years ago. Even though she got new devices every year, Savannah would rather throw them away than give them to me.
If my studies didn't actually require a laptop and phone, I wouldn't have gotten even these five-year-old things.
I nodded, but honestly I'd never get to use these gifts anyway. I had no plans to stay for graduation.
Seeing me being obedient, Eli finally showed a satisfied smile.
"How about having the same team that did your photoshoot handle your prom styling? They'll prepare your dress too." Eli asked again.
I didn't know why he was suddenly so interested in my graduation and prom, but I nodded indifferently.
Eli thought for a moment. "Your graduation isn't far off. We really need to start preparing."
At this thought, he curled his lips mockingly. "Christina and Savannah certainly won't handle any of this."
I was already used to their coldness. I was leaving the Martinez family anyway. What they did didn't matter anymore.
Seeing me with my head down, Eli thought I was sad. He gently touched my head.
"Sorry I never paid attention to these things before. But I'll definitely give you a perfect graduation, just like other kids get."
This time, his palm wasn't burning hot. It was a warmth I found myself craving.
I couldn't help thinking how nice it would be if he didn't want me as his mistress.
I nodded to show I'd go along with whatever he arranged.
Eli gently pinched my cheek. "Looks like you're happy with everything I'm planning. But kids should have something to look forward to. That's what makes them happy! Don't worry, leave everything to me. I'll make sure you have the most unforgettable night."
Forth's POV
Watching Genesis hurriedly pull her uncle away, I lowered my head in disappointment.
Genesis's uncle didn't like me. That was pretty discouraging.
"Why didn't you just tell Genesis you also applied to Novien University of Technology?" Mom gently took my hand and asked.
I shook my head. "The offer isn't here yet. I want to tell her after it comes through." I'd never mentioned this to Genesis.
Right after I saw her application to Novien University of Technology that day, I went home and discussed it with my family.
At first my parents were against it. We'd never considered foreign universities before, and Walton University had already given me a verbal offer.
But after I insisted, they finally agreed.
I secretly applied to Novien University of Technology.
"Don't lose heart. If you like her, you should pursue her bravely." Mom smiled at me and patted my shoulder.
My face turned bright red. I said helplessly, "Genesis already rejected me before..."
Mom finally stopped smiling. She said gently, "You're both still young. There will be countless possibilities in the future. Just be bold and try. Besides, you're wonderful, and Genesis is an excellent girl too. Even if you don't end up together, having such a good friend is something to be grateful for, isn't it?"
Mom's words immediately cleared the confusion in my heart. I nodded firmly.
A week later, I finally got the email from Novien University of Technology!
I gripped the mouse nervously, staring at that email. Countless possibilities of failure flashed through my mind. I pressed my lips together and clicked it open!
It was an offer!
I jumped up excitedly, rushing downstairs like a cannonball to tell Mom the good news!
Mom was equally happy. We hugged each other tightly.
I said excitedly, "I want to share this good news with Genesis right now! Immediately!"
Seeing my happy face, Mom couldn't bring herself to say the words of caution on her lips. She could only nod helplessly. "Go ahead."
I practically flew into the garage, started the car, and raced to the Martinez family villa.
This was my first time coming here. Even though the Martinez family was famous in our city, everyone knew where their villa was.
I jumped out of the car and grabbed a maid cleaning near the entrance. Suppressing my excitement, I asked, "Is Genesis home? I'm her classmate, Forth. I need to see her about something."
The maid invited me inside and told me Genesis was home. She'd go get her right away.
I sat nervously on the sofa, looking at the Martinez family's luxurious decor. My excitement calmed down a bit.
Maybe I should have waited until tomorrow at school to tell her.
Just then, I heard footsteps from upstairs. I immediately stood up excitedly and looked up!
But it was Genesis's uncle coming down.
