Chapter 49 pill

Chapter 49 pill

I walked nervously to the car door and stood there obediently, waiting for Savannah's orders.

To my surprise, she motioned for me to get in.

I gripped the door handle, looking at her anxiously. Since the day the Martinez family adopted me, Savannah had never let me ride in the same car as her.

I stood frozen, frantically thinking of ways to refuse.

But Savannah's face turned cold. She stared at me with furrowed brows, clearly displeased.

"Do I need to personally invite you?" Savannah snapped harshly.

I trembled all over and could only lower my head and get in the car.

The moment I got in, the car started immediately. I grabbed the door handle in panic and quickly pulled out my phone to ask Savannah: \[Are we going somewhere?\]

Savannah stared at me meaningfully for a long time before slowly speaking.

"I've arranged a blind date for you. You're meeting him today."

A blind date?!

I stared in horror, eyes wide. But I was only 17! I just wanted to get into college and leave this place. I didn't want to go on blind dates, much less get married!

I suddenly remembered the conversation I'd overheard between her and Christian that night. They really had been planning to marry me off, but I never expected it to happen so soon!

Savannah continued coldly, "You must make him like you today! If he's willing, you'll get engaged immediately!"

I gripped my dress tightly with both hands, biting my lip hard.

This was supposed to be a life-changing decision for me, so why did she make it sound as casual as giving away a cat or dog?

I hated this feeling of helplessness. I wanted to refuse loudly, even escape from this car!

But I knew I couldn't.

Savannah's bodyguards were well-trained. Even if I jumped out of the car, they had a hundred ways to drag me back.

I'd only face something worse.

I slowly unclenched my fists and put on an innocent expression: \[But I'm still in school.\]

"You're just a bastard child! Your only purpose in the Martinez family is marriage! So what if you go to college? You'll never earn equivalent resources in your lifetime! Better to marry early."

Savannah mocked me mercilessly.

"Besides, aren't you good at seducing men like your slut mother? You can seduce your husband into letting you study."

Her tone grew sharper and more sarcastic. My eyes turned red with anger.

That's not true!

My mother wasn't a slut! I wasn't a bastard child!

My grades were way better than Maria's. I could get into the best schools in the country. I wasn't what she said I was!

Countless words stuck in my throat. I wanted to argue back so badly!

But no matter how I tried to open my mouth, no words came out.

Even if I could speak, Savannah wouldn't believe me anyway.

I desperately tried to think of who could help me.

Jordan? He only cared about the Martinez family's reputation. He wouldn't care if I got married off.

Eli? He was still in the south escorting that weapons shipment, barely able to take care of himself. How could he help me?

I slumped back against the seat in defeat. If my parents were still alive...

They wouldn't think I was wasting resources. They wouldn't make me marry so young.

Without my parents, there really was nothing behind me anymore.

I was brought to the Aurelia Crest Hotel.

Looking at the hotel entrance, I grew more panicked, constantly looking around.

"Genesis?!"

Forth's voice came from nearby. My eyes lit up and I immediately looked in that direction.

Forth waved at me excitedly, but before he could get close, Savannah's bodyguards chased him away.

My heart, which had lifted momentarily, sank heavily again.

"Drop the scheming," Savannah warned me quietly, gripping my arm as she led me to a private room.

Inside sat a young man. This was Lennon, the one Savannah had mentioned.

The moment we entered, his gaze landed precisely on me, with an uncomfortable intensity.

"Hello there, beautiful!" His lewd eyes swept over me several times. "I'm Lennon, Delilah's cousin."

Delilah's cousin!

I immediately looked up at Savannah, gently indicating: \[I'm Eli's niece, he's Delilah's cousin. We don't seem very suitable.\]

"It doesn't matter." Savannah was ice cold. "A mute like you should be grateful anyone wants you. They've helped Christian a lot in business. You must get along with him."

Her cold gaze fell on me like I was worthless trash.

"If you ruin this blind date, I'll deal with you personally."

Pain shot through my back. I trembled and didn't try to convince Savannah anymore.

I understood now. She would never let me go.

Lennon's gaze was completely undisguised. He stroked his chin and asked, "She's really mute?"

Savannah nodded. "She can only make tiny sounds."

"Perfect. Then she won't be too noisy." Lennon seemed very satisfied with this arrangement.

Their conversation didn't even sound like a blind date. It was more like buying and selling a pet!

Before I could react, Savannah shoved me hard toward Lennon.

I turned back in panic, just in time to see the malicious smile on her face.

"Since he's so satisfied with you, go with him. I'm going home."

I couldn't believe it!

How could she be so careless! Was I some object to be given away like this!

I tried to struggle, but Lennon held me tightly and chuckled low. "Beautiful, where do you think you're going?"

He reeked of tobacco mixed with blood. It made me want to vomit!

Lennon scooped me up, and no matter how I struggled, he wouldn't let go!

I opened my mouth to scream for help, but only managed a few barely audible whimpers. Lennon heard and laughed outright.

"Really is a mute. I've never played with one before."

Lennon carried me away, and Savannah just watched him take me!

I didn't want this!

I struggled frantically. Lennon got annoyed and threw me to the ground, slapping me hard across the face.

The sharp pain made me cover my face immediately, looking at him in fear.

"I hate disobedient bitches the most. Don't push me." He said this viciously, then simply threw me over his shoulder.

My world turned upside down.

I saw Forth notice me and try to chase after us, but Lennon's men blocked him.

I saw the private room door close. I was unceremoniously thrown into Lennon's car.

Finally, I was brought to the Nelson family villa.

My head was spinning. Lennon roughly dragged me out of the car, and we actually ran into Delilah at the entrance!

Delilah rolled her eyes impatiently and handed Lennon a pill.

"This bitch won't behave. Better give her some medicine. Even a fierce woman becomes a bitch in heat."

Lennon perked up with interest and took the pill from her.

I panicked and ran toward the villa exit!

Several bodyguards immediately reacted, blocking me completely and restraining my arms on both sides.

They held me down forcibly while Lennon gripped my chin hard and shoved the pill into my mouth!
