Chapter 30 Eli Got Caught

Chapter 30 Eli Got Caught

Eli’s POV

I knelt on the cold tiles of the detention room, but my mind was filled with Genesis's retreating figure as she left.

I frowned and simply lay down on the floor, staring at the ceiling.

I didn't know if his actions just now had scared that little mute. Her small frame wasn't great to begin with. Last night she got a fever just from a little wind. If she got scared again...

"Tch."

I stood up with a frown.

"Although I really don't want to waste time, that little mute's fever was because of me after all. Don't want Jordan blaming this on me too!" I slipped one hand into my pocket and walked leisurely to the door.

I guess I'll reluctantly go check on her?

But I couldn't just go over there like this.

The little mute wasn't wrong about one thing. Father did spoil me, but he also cared about Christian. If I really pissed off the old man and he took back all my authority, wouldn't that just benefit Christian?

I played with my phone absentmindedly, then suddenly had an idea and sent out a message.

Soon after, the butler hurried in.

"Young master, this is bad!" The butler wiped the sweat from his forehead. "A batch of arms we purchased from Russian arms dealers was hijacked by the Nguyen family!"

"Hmm?" Seeing the butler so anxious, I became less urgent instead.

I sat down casually, resting one hand on my left knee. "They have that much nerve?"

"Yes." The butler bowed respectfully with a flattering smile. "Don's orders are for you to take people to get that batch of arms back and teach the Nguyen family a lesson."

I raised an eyebrow and pretended to press my shoulder painfully. "But he beat me up pretty badly. My skills might be affected."

Of course I was talking nonsense. No matter what, I had to take this mission. After all, the old man was still the most authoritative Don in the family.

I just had to squeeze some benefits out of the butler.

The butler immediately moved behind me and considerately massaged my shoulders. "Don't worry, Don has already smoothed this over for you. It definitely won't affect you in the future."

Only then did I stand up and head upstairs.

Seeing I was going the wrong direction, the butler quickly caught up. "Where are you going?"

I clicked my tongue impatiently. "After being punished in the detention room for so long, can't I clean up a bit?"

The butler respectfully escorted me upstairs. I took a detour to Genesis's room.

It really wasn't that I wanted to come. It's just that this mission would definitely take a long time. As a responsible person, I could only reluctantly spare time to check on her.

In the room, Genesis's face was white as a ghost. She lay on the bed with her eyes tightly closed, getting an IV.

I didn't know what she was dreaming about, but she was frowning and shaking her head constantly. She suddenly turned over and almost pulled out the needle in her hand!

I immediately stepped forward to hold her down, then looked around displeased. Wasn't that maid Susan supposed to be taking care of her? How come she was nowhere to be seen?!

This was too negligent!

"What did you eat tonight? How are you as strong as a bull?" I muttered under my breath. I was about to brush away her sweaty hair when I realized she was crying silently, tears streaming down her face.

I froze, an uncomfortable feeling rising in my chest.

Because she couldn't speak, even her crying went unnoticed?

I pressed my lips together and saw her trying to wipe away tears that had flowed into her neck. But with the needle in her hand, moving would definitely dislodge it.

"What a troublesome little mute." I held her down and disgustedly pulled up my sleeve to roughly wipe her face.

Maybe because my cuff button scratched her, she cried even harder.

"Stop crying! What exactly are you dreaming about that makes you cry non-stop?" I looked down at my clothes and reluctantly pulled at a corner of my T-shirt underneath to wipe her face again.

Seeing her frown again, I could only lighten my touch.

"Are you the princess and the pea? I'm wiping your face and you're still not happy." I glanced at the time. I had to leave. The people downstairs must be getting impatient.

But would this little mute really be okay here alone?

Just as I was hesitating, someone turned the door handle. Someone was coming in!

Instinctively, I flashed behind the curtains, watching the room through the gap.

The maid Susan walked in.

She bent down to carefully check Genesis's condition and thoughtfully smoothed her hair.

Only then did I realize this was my house! I could go wherever I wanted. Why was I hiding?!

Fortunately, after Susan finished tidying her hair, she left again, allowing me to escape smoothly.

A few days later, when I completed the mission and returned home, I saw Genesis looking lost in thought. I didn't know what she was thinking about, but she completely failed to notice my presence!

I called out to her, but she keenly caught the flaw in my words and asked if I had gone to see her that night.

How could I possibly admit it?!

Was I supposed to tell her I had embarrassingly used my own clothes to wipe her tears, and then foolishly hid behind curtains afraid of being discovered?

I would never let her know!

"Of course not! Isn't your crying common knowledge? Every time I scare you a little, you timidly cry and whimper." I answered with a sneer.

The light in Genesis's eyes dimmed. She lowered her head slightly, seeming unhappy.

I didn't care about that. My gaze fell on the paper in her hand. "What's this? Is this why you were so distracted you didn't even see me?"

Genesis paused, then said quietly, "I was worrying about the class trip to a city. This is the Permission Slip. You know, Christian and Savannah probably won't help me sign it..."

Seeing her worried expression, that same uncomfortable feeling from that night surged up again.

It was just a tiny matter. What was there to worry about?

I reached out my hand toward her. Genesis looked at me blankly.

I impatiently snatched the paper from her hand and gestured for her to give me a pen. "Did you forget you're standing in front of your uncle? I can sign it for you."

I had only denied going to her room that night, and the little mute already looked unhappy. If she couldn't go on this class trip, she'd probably cry in her dreams again. I definitely didn't want to use my clothes to wipe her tears again!

I signed efficiently and slapped the Permission Slip back into her hands. "Now you owe me another favor. Remember to pay it back next time."
