Chapter 39 Chance
Delilah's POV:
"Brother! Why hasn't Eli come yet!" I threw the pillow from my bed hard onto the floor. I was injured, yet he wasn't the first to stay by my bedside!
I complained irritably, "Did you even call him!"
Jacob helplessly picked up the pillow for me and patted my shoulder soothingly.
"I called him. He's on his way."
I rolled my eyes, not believing him at all. "You said he was on his way ten minutes ago. Why isn't he here yet?"
I sat up abruptly, pulling at my wound painfully and couldn't help frowning.
"He didn't go on a date with some other woman last night, did he? You need to help me kill that woman!" I shouted.
Jacob covered my mouth. "Why do you get so violent whenever it involves Eli? It's only eight o'clock. Eli usually isn't even awake yet. What woman could there be?"
But I was really anxious. Why couldn't he always stay by my side?
Though he did risk his life for me yesterday, so I guess I could wait for him a bit.
Fortunately, I didn't wait long before Eli arrived.
"Why didn't you personally take me to the hospital! You actually let my brother accompany me. Don't you worry about me?" As I spoke, I really got angry, crossing my arms and questioning him irritably.
Eli sat on the sofa in the hospital room and showed me the bandages on his body.
"I was shot. Had to go to the hospital to remove the bullet, so I could only let your brother take care of you."
He was actually shot!
I immediately wanted to rush over to check his wounds, but Eli stopped me.
"You're still injured. These are just minor wounds for me, nothing serious."
My eyes immediately reddened. He still loved me so much.
"You've been here so long. Don't you want to kiss me?" I lifted the covers, wanting to get out of bed to hug him.
I missed his solid muscles. If he could kiss me deeply right now...
"Miss Delilah, you need your dressing changed."
Just then, a nurse suddenly walked in pushing a cart.
She dared interrupt me! Eli was just about to kiss me! Did she have to change my dressing right now?
I gripped the bedsheets tightly, staring at her resentfully. If Eli wasn't here, I would have slapped her already!
And before she left, Eli actually glanced at her!
My fury blazed up instantly! This nurse looked pretty good, especially those eyes. She even made eye contact with Eli just now!
She must have been attracted to Eli long ago. Seeing him enter my room, she found an excuse to change my dressing!
Her real purpose was to seduce Eli!
I suppressed my anger, still wanting Eli to kiss me, but his phone suddenly rang.
He answered with a dark expression, then looked at me apologetically. "The family has business I need to handle. I have to go."
After saying that, he stood up to leave.
I called out unhappily, "I'm injured! What could be more important than me!"
But Eli wouldn't tell me. "Family business must remain confidential. You know that."
I still didn't want to let him leave, shouting angrily, "If you leave, I'll tell Don Martinez and my father that you deliberately bullied me!"
Eli clicked his tongue impatiently but still came over patiently. "I promise I'll come see you again later. Don't make trouble. Be good."
I loved seeing him helpless with me yet having to listen to me.
After Eli left, I darkly ordered my bodyguards to drag that nurse in.
I got out of bed and grabbed the nurse's chin. "You deliberately came in at that moment and made eye contact with Eli! You wanted to seduce him, didn't you?!"
The nurse immediately looked at me in shock.
This was clearly guilt after being exposed!
My nails dug deep into the flesh of her cheeks. When the nurse tried to scream, the bodyguards gagged her.
I stared at her coldly. "I've seen plenty of cheap women like you trying to seduce Eli. Guess what happened to them in the end?"
I smiled cruelly and looked at the bodyguards. "Go dig out her eyes and dispose of them cleanly! I don't want her appearing in front of Eli again!"
The bodyguards dragged away the still-struggling nurse, but the frustration in my heart didn't decrease at all!
Yesterday was such a good opportunity, yet I couldn't take the chance to kill Genesis!
Savannah happened to call just then. "How can you not handle such a small matter? Now that mute came back completely intact!"
I was kidnapped myself. What could I do!
I wanted to smash my phone, but thinking this woman Savannah was still useful, I forced myself to hold back.
"Did she complain to Don Martinez?" I asked.
Savannah answered, "No. How would someone with her courage dare complain? She only told them she ran into you by chance."
She was quite clever.
Too bad, no matter what she said, I was determined to kill her!
"Now Christian won't let me touch her. He plans to keep her for an arranged marriage! What do we do now?" Savannah asked irritably.
An arranged marriage?
That was a great idea.
I excitedly told Savannah, "Perfect! I have a cousin named Lennon. His biggest hobby is making specimens out of women he's played with! Once that mute falls into his hands, she'll definitely be killed!"
"Good! I'll go persuade Christian right away!" Savannah got excited too, speaking hurriedly.
Eli's POV:
Coming out of the hospital room, I irritably hid in the stairwell to smoke.
If Jordan hadn't been pressuring me to proceed with the engagement to Delilah, I would have broken off our engagement long ago.
Since our engagement, she'd treated me as her possession. Any woman who got even slightly close to me would suffer her vicious attacks. It was extremely annoying.
Several bodyguards dragged a nurse into the stairwell. When the nurse saw me, she immediately struggled frantically.
I frowned, recognizing these as Delilah's bodyguards.
"What's going on?" I asked in a low voice.
The bodyguards looked at each other for a long time before squeezing out, "Miss Delilah thinks she was seducing you and wants us to dig out her eyes..."
"She's insane!" My anger shot straight to my head. I'd only glanced at this nurse once! "Let her go!"
The bodyguards were still hesitating. I kicked them to the ground and pointed my gun at them.
"Don't tell Delilah I saved her." The bodyguards nodded repeatedly. I kicked them hard several times. "Get lost!"
The bodyguards ran away scrambling. I signaled for the nurse to leave quickly, then dialed Jordan's number.
"When exactly can I break off the engagement with Delilah? That woman is too twisted. I can't stand it!" I questioned displeasedly.
Jordan still gave his usual spiel. "Soon! Once we get evidence of their betrayal, everything will be up to you."
I threw my cigarette on the ground and crushed it with my foot.
"Make it fast."
