AMANDA
I parted my eyes at the beeping sound of machine and a faint smell of hospital walls entered my nostril. For a second, everything was blurry. I couldn't see clear, the bright light hurt my head. After sometimes, it adjusted on its own and I saw a familiar face staring at me. I blinked and tried to figure out who it was.
Ishaan?
I looked around and found myself on the hospital's bed with IV on my hand and bandage around my forehead. What happened? Why the hell I'm in hospital?
Blinking thrice, all of sudden that dreadful memory started rushing through my mind. I'm alive. Fuck. I'm alive. I didn't die?
"Where is he?" I asked in a hoarse voice.
It's okay. It isn't like you expected something else from him when you decided to return back to him, Amanda. You knew that he wanted revenge on you then why are you feeling sad? So, what if we shared few happy moments together. I could never be someone whom he stops hating. I destroyed his life; I fucking deserve this.
He just made me realize that how horrifying it feels to know that you could die any second. It was my fault that I hit the tree. And what else kind of reaction could I expect from him when I killed his girlfriend along with his child?
"Don't worry from now on he won't bother you again. And I'm so sorry for doing this to you. It was all my fault. I should've told him sooner." He spoke.
"What do you mean by he won't bother me again?" I asked, getting worried.
Thousand of thoughts started jumping in my mind. Don't tell me that he had decided to never see me again?
No. Please. He can't do this. How am I supposed to live if I never meet him again. After what I did; killing a person, I should be punished but not like this. He can hate me for how much he wants but I want...no I need to be with him.
There's this weird kind of pain in my heart that'd burst if he'll not be next to me.
"Take rest. I'm going to call your father. You should return to your home and live happily." He said instead of answering what I asked.
My heart sank in fear. What is he talking about?
No. No. I don't want to go back to my father. I don't want to go anywhere.
Dad lied to me that Disha didn't die. He fucking told me that she was alive and safe. How can he do this to me? Was this all because of his image? Off course, why else would he do this? He and his wife would happily send me to jail, if possible.
I killed someone yet he didn't even bother to tell me the truth. He fucking forced me to marry a stranger just for money and power?
Why I'm so fucked up? Why can't I be like everybody else? Why can't I be normal?
"No, don't. Where is Marco, please tell me?" I asked in fear.
He sighed, sitting next to me on the hospital bed. "There's something that you should know and I'm sorry for lying to you. I swear I had no idea that he will try to take away your life. I'm so sorry." He said, showing me a footage.
I scurried my eyebrows in confusion and the second I realized it, it felt as if ground slipped beneath my feet. I didn't know what to feel, how to react?
My heart started hammering against my chest. I...I....Fuck.
I didn't kill her.
I didn't kill Disha.
There was this relief rushing through my chest and if I could, I would've danced. And, then there was some sort of anger bursting through my vein which I didn't know how to express.
I suffered everything and even if I wasn't at fault?
The mental and emotional pain which I've suffered only because I believed that I killed her?
No, seriously. What is wrong with me? How can one person be unlucky enough to suffer what I've been growing through ever since I was a kid?
"I got to know about this recently when I came to meet you at airport. Also please look at this letter." He handed me the letter.
I opened the letter with shaky fingers and started reading it.
The second I finished it; I looked up at Ishaan in worry. "Don't tell me that you showed all this to Marco?"
Something churned in my stomach and a wave of nausea hit me.
His expression said it all and suddenly it started suffocating me to stay here for another minute. "Take me to him, Ishaan."
"I know you're angry at him but right now take care of yourself." He replied.
"Just take me to him." I snapped.
As soon as I reached his house, I somehow managed to walk inside and looked around for him. My head was hurting badly and it felt as if I can't breathe. My body felt so light and it wanted nothing but to rest. Still somehow, I walked to his room and opened the door.
There he was, sitting on his window, looking out of it. His head was resting against the wall and when my eyes fell on his feet, I remembered how he walked over the crushed pieces of glass. The glasses were still struck in his feet, blood has dried and it was clear that he hasn't removed them. His hands and forehead were also bruised as if he hit them against the wall.
My heart sank in my chest.
"Marco." I called out for his name and the second he turned to me; his face became restless.
"What are you doing here? You should be in hospital- You..." He stopped mid of his sentence when I walked to him and engulfed him in a hug. His familiar sent washed into my nostril and it felt good.
His body molded in my arms perfectly. His tensed muscle eased but he didn't hug me back.
"I'm sorry... I had no idea...I...please forgive me. Please..Amanda...."
I pulled myself away from him and put my fingers above his lips. "Are you okay?" I asked in worry.
He looked at me in confusion and a lone tear escaped pass his eyes. "Y-You didn't kill her, Amanda. It wasn't your fault. I..I sorry."
"I know." I smiled, wiping away his tears.
