Chapter 4
Louisa.
"Miss Jordan?" The minister called again when I said nothing. Jared's smiling face appeared in my vision and to my surprise, he squeezed my hands lightly.
"Everything is okay, Louisa. You can answer the question." he said.
The look on his face was very soothing and that was all I needed to clear the sensations out of my head. I blinked twice, before looking at the minister again.
"Yes." I replied. "I will take Mr. Jared Yeats to be my lawfully wedded husband."
And that was it. We were sealed as one. Jared placed the expensive ring on my finger, and I did the same with his. When he leaned in to kiss me, I wanted to turn my cheeks to the side, but he held my face firmly in his hands.
"It's okay." He whispered, taking my lips softly with his. The kiss ended as soon as it began, leaving me craving for more. I knew he didn't want to startle me with deepening it and that got me very disappointed.
"You are mine now." He said, and I found myself smiling, actually liking the fact that I was indeed his. We turned together to look at the guests and cheers as well as whistles erupted. I found my mother among the crowd, seeing that there was relief written all over her face.
The wedding reception happened immediately after the wedding service and I found myself against Jared, dancing to the rhythm of the music.
"You are beautiful." He whispered into my ears, while I smiled in return. I couldn't count how many times he had said those words to me, but I liked hearing him say it. God, am I falling in love with a stranger? I wondered.
"You don't look bad yourself." I teased and he chuckled softly, the sound music to my ears.
My parents were moving around the event, making sure everything was going on as planned. When the music stopped, Jared's cousins; Micah and Justin came up to stand before us. The one whose name was Micah opened his arms and enveloped me in a hug, making me take in his exotic scent.
"Welcome to the family, Louisa." He spoke.
"Thank you." I replied shyly, smiling into his handsome face.
"Typical of you to keep your private life out of the media, Jared." Micah said, turning to his cousin but Jared only scowled at him.
“What's the fun of having your business all over the media?" He asked.
"Well, does she know what she's getting into?" Justin, his other cousin asked after giving me a weird peck on the cheeks. "The media, society and every other thing that comes with marrying a Yeats. Does she know?”
Jared smiled at them while I kept mute wondering what the hidden story behind their relationship was.
"You don't have to scare her off, Justin." Jared replied. "We have not even gotten to our honeymoon yet."
I blushed at his statement, wondering how making love to him was going to feel like. If he was going to be slow, long, careful, or...
"You chose a common girl as your wife, so bravo for keeping the relationship a secret." Micah added, staring deeply at me. "This wedding was definitely a shock."
Jared shrugged his shoulders indifferently, before saluting them both. Micah on the other hand, walked forward to kiss me on the cheeks, his lips hovering close to my ears. "As soon as you walk out that door, your life is no longer yours alone. Run while you still can, Miss Jordan." He spoke.
When I looked at him, there was a mocking look on his face, but i managed to ignore him. After offering me another fake smile, both brothers walked away.
My father took my hands from Jared, leading me a little away for privacy. "I won't say thank you to you." He started as the music began again and we started to move to its rhythm. "I won't say thank you, Louisa, but you have saved us. Just have this at the back of your mind."
I nodded at him, turning my face away. "You are welcome, Dad." I said.
"Live your life carefully, and we might forget we owe Jared Yeats anything." He warned.
I scoffed arrogantly at him, shaking my head in disgust. "And you. Try not to steal anything from someone else again. You don't have another daughter to give off as repayment." I warned in return.
My statement brought a stern look on his face, but I didn't care. Jared saved me by appearing close to me again, taking my hands from my father’s.
"It's time to go." He whispered softly into my ears. "The guests can enjoy the rest of the reception; we've done our part."
I was given enough time to say goodbye to my parents, friends, and the little guests from my own side, while Jared shook hands with the big businessmen who attended because of him. We walked out together, hand in hand and as soon as the door opened, cameras began to flash on my face.
"Congratulations Mr. Yeats. This was a very surprising wedding." Said one of the reporters.
"What is your plan as Mrs. Yeats, will you be taking a position at Yeats Groups?" A female voice asked, directing her microphone at me.
I hid my face with my hands to avoid the captures while Jared signaled to his bodyguards to take care of the situation. Soon, we were safely inside the car.
"Sorry about that." Jared said and I smiled in response.
The trip to his house was an enjoyable one, I laughed at his jokes while he winced playfully at mine. We were beginning to lean into each other, and I was grateful he wasn't entirely hard and strict compared to other young billionaires of his status.
Twenty minutes later, the car drove into his estate, and I was mesmerized by the beauty of the place. His mansion was gigantic and could house a hundred people if the need arises. When we stopped, his bodyguards came from behind us immediately, opening the car doors for us.
"Where is she?" Jared asked when he got out, his expression changing as if a switch had been flipped inside his brain. I was confused at whom he spoke about but said nothing to interrupt.
"She's inside. The caregiver is attending to her." the main bodyguard replied to him.
"Good. Let's go, Louisa." He said, starting the walk to the main house.
Some group of ladies, dressed in the same outfits stood by the door, bowing their heads as we walked past them. I realized we took a different route from the ones the servants did and so, had to call Jared's attention.
"Your house is quite huge." I said but he only nodded, quickening his steps more.
I followed him into the house in silence and as soon as we walked through the door, a beautiful young lady fell weakly into his arms, startling me. I flinched but Jared only held her comfortably in his arms.
"I'm here, baby." He whispered to her.
"You took long enough." The princess spoke weakly.
"I know." He replied soothing her head which I realized was tied in a scarf. Perplexed at what was going on, I stood without saying a word and Jared turned to look at me, a scowl that I had never seen before appearing on his face. "Don't just stand there, can't you see she's weak? Help her."
"Wh...at....?" I stammered, still looking at them while trying to figure out what was going on. Jared stared hard at me, his hand still holding tightly to the beautiful woman.
"Welcome to the part of my life where the world knows nothing about." He said, and nothing prepared me for the next words that came out of his mouth as he pointed to the woman in his arms. “This is Claire, Louisa. She is my wife."
