Chapter 57
Elijah's POV.
"Why is mom angry?" Oliver asked opening his eyes.
"You scared us." I started. "How could you think of leaving me Oliver. I know I always joke about wanting to be the only child but I would've ended my life if anything happened to you. I know Annette is so irresponsible and didn't take good care of you but I promise from now on, I'll look after you. I will study online, I won't go to school."
"But you done with school, you just waiting for your prom night." Oliver replied sitting up.
"Then I won't go to varsity. I'll study online and take you to school. I'll go everywhere you go." I told him and he started laughing. "I'm serious."
"If you love me than you will treat me like you did before. Eli, if you stop going to school I won't ever talk to you again. Now tell me did you fight with Annette?" He questioned and I rolled my eyes taking his hand. "Tell me the truth."
"I love you Oliver and honestly I would fight with everyone just for you. Except mom or else I'll be grounded for life."
"Apologize to Annette and ask her to go with you to the farewell." He told me and I started coughing. "You don't love me Elijah."
"I do love you a lot. Oliver, I thought you were joking about being sick or else I would have never left you alone tonight."
"Keep changing the subject Elijah and I might just die on your birth—" I put my hand on his mouth angry.
"I swear I'll beat you up Oliver. You are my brother and you went to leave me alone. What do you think will happen to me, mom, dad and Emily."
"So will you take her?" I nodded my head giving up. "She's a good girl Elijah, the only sister in law I want."
"Sister in what?" I shouted. "Oliver she's your sister, our sister."
"I also agree with Oliver." Adrian said standing at the door. "By the way Elijah, if you don't stop your mother and father fighting. Someone will die." He added and I ran out of the room.
"You think I'll forgive you after everything you did to me? Benjamin I'll never forgive you for hiding the fact that Damien got the heart condition from his your aunt. You lied to me." My mother shouted.
"I never said he got it from his father so stop creating a scene." My father replied.
"You think I care about all these people watching." My mother pointed at them angry. "I don't care about anyone except my children. That's why I'll get Oliver discharge now and you will never get to see him after what you did to him."
"Mother." I shouted. "It's not dad's fault."
"Shut up Elijah, stay with your father if you want but I won't let him see my Oliver." My mother went in Oliver's room and Dad tried following her but I stopped him.
"Eli, I know your mother is angry but I can't let her take Oliver away from us."
"Dad, don't you know mommy isn't thinking right that's why she will take him straight to our house and that's where we also live." I told my father and he nodded his head agreeing with me.
"Elijah I know you don't want to accept it but Oliver has a heart condition. I saw the results and—"
"Father, I'm your first child right?" I questioned and he agreed. "Then why didn't I get it? There is no way Oliver can inherit it. I promise he is fine."
"The doctor told me to give you this." Annette gave my father a letter and that's when I remembered the letter Alison gave me. I know this is a bad time so I'll tell my father tomorrow after my birthday.

"Sofia, please open the door." My father kept shouting and knocking on Oliver's room but my mom refused to open. "Emily wants to see her brother." He added.
"Father, I'm sure mom will come out of the room again so please ask Emily to sleep. She only listens to you." I told my father and he nodded picking Emily up. "Goodnight princess." I gave Emily a kiss then my father took her to her room.
"Mommy, please open the door." I started knocking but mom didn't answer me. "Ollie, open the door for me."
"Mom, please open the door. I want to see Dad and Eli." I heard Oliver speaking and I sighed relieved.
"Oliver you going to eat, take your medication and then sleep. I don't want you talking about your father or anyone else." My mother replied and I started knocking on the door. "Elijah, sleep." She shouted.
"Mother, please open the door." I begged and mom quickly opened the door.
"He is tired Elijah, now can you go sleep please." My mother said and I walked passed her and went to Oliver.
"Where's dad, I want to see him but mom said no." Oliver complained and I sat next to him. "Do you know why they are fighting?" I can't believe my mom didn't think of telling Oliver everything. I know I don't want to accept what the doctor told us but it's the truth and if Oliver is suffering from it than he has the right to know. It's not like it's a death sentence.
"Oliver you are like uncle Damien." He looked at me confused. "You know uncle Damien take medicine for his heart because he has a special heart. Oliver you have the same heart as him and that's why you got sick tonight. You need to take this medicine the doctor gave you unless you want to leave us."
"You can't come in Benjamin." My mother shouted and I got up.
"I want to see my son Sofia." Father replied. I don't know when they will learn to stop fighting over us.
"Why doesn't Oliver choose." I shouted and they both turned to me. Annette was right when she used to say I speak without thinking.
"I hate you." Oliver mumbled.
"Come on Oliver, tell your father you want your mom to stay with you." Mother said and Oliver looked at me angry.
"I'll leave." My father decided.
"Dad—" Oliver wanted to stop him but my father shook his head.

Sofia's POV.
Benjamin left the room and Elijah followed him. I know I shouldn't have blamed him for everything that happened but I'm just angry about the fact he never thought of letting the children go for a check-up.
"Mommy, please don't be angry with papa. He loves you so much." Oliver said wiping my tears.
"Sleep Oliver. It's late." I gave him a kiss and he closed his eyes. I just have to swallow my pride and go apologize to the fool I love so much.
As soon as I entered Benjamin's room I saw him packing.
"So you going to leave every time we have a little misunderstanding?" I asked and he turned to me. "I'm sorry, I might've over reacted Benjamin. But it's not my fault after all you didn't think of taking the children for a check-up when you know your aunt has a heart condition."
"Are you apologizing to me or blaming me?" He questioned.
"I'm apologizing." I bit my lips walking to him. "I'm sorry, please forgive me. It won't happen again."
"You don't sound like you mean it." He replied and started shaking him. "I'm serious."
"But you not even looking at me when I'm apologizing." I complained.
"Fine, I'm looking. What do you want?" Benjamin asked.
"Why are you acting so cold. I just want to apologize to my husband but it feels like I'm apologizing to the devil himself." I tried acting sad but it didn't help. "By the way why are you packing and whose clothes are these?"
"I don't remember." He sounded like he didn't care at all.
"Benjamin these are women's clothes, so tell me whose clothes are they? I know it's not mine." I shouted at him angry but he just smiled at me, shaking his head.
"Why should I tell you?" He questioned and I opened my mouth shocked.
"I came to apologize to you but instead I found out you cheating on me ." I started crying and he shook his head. "I hate you." I tried leaving the room but he grabbed my arm.
"I can tolerate your shouting and everything else expect crying, Sofia." Benjamin said as I tried breaking free from his hand. "I told you a million times you the only one for me."
"Then whose clothes—"
"I bought them for you when I was in Dubai but I couldn't give them to you because of Ian's family problems. And tonight we just found out about Oliver's heart condition." He explained.
"I know you will never cheat on me because you scared of me." I smiled at him and he chuckled. "I love you."
"I love you more." I kissed Benjamin and tried walking away from him but he pulled me back again. "Benjamin, you know Oliver needs me. What if he gets sick while I'm with you." I complained and he smiled at me.
"Damien has a heart condition and I know everything about it because I grew up with him. So I can tell you that Oliver is fine, all he has to do is take his medicine and look after himself. " I looked at him angry and he rolled his eyes. I don't understand how he can be relax just after finding out about Oliver's heart. "Sofia, I promise you Oliver is fine and if anything happens to him you can kill me."
"Benjamin, this isn't a game. This is about my son's life but because I trust you, I'll quickly go check up on Oliver and if he is fine. I'll sleep." I left the room and went to Oliver's room. He was fast asleep, I know I trust Benjamin a lot but I can never see any of my children in danger. I'll just have to make sure from now on, that I keep an eye on everything he does, I don't know how he will take the news that he will never be able to take part in athletics.

Elijah's POV.
I got in bed after making sure my little brother was fine. I love him more than the world and I can never see him in pain. I don't even want to imagine what could happen if Annette wasn't here. But from now on I'll never leave his sight, I will never be irresponsible especially now that I know he has a heart condition.
I fell asleep, thinking about Oliver.
"Elijah, I'm not feeling well. I can't brea—"
"Oliver, what's wrong?" I questioned placing him on the bed. "You going to be fine. Please just take a deep breath, I'll get your medicine now." I quickly grabbed the medicine from his table and before I could give it to him, he wasn't breathing. "Oliver, open your mouth. Stop playing games with me." I shouted shaking him but he wouldn't wake up. "Please Oliver wake up." I fell his pulse and my heart stopped beating. "Oliver." I shouted as tears started rolling down my cheeks. "You can't leave me, please Oliver."
****
I woke up sweating and I quickly ran out of my room. The second I entered Oliver's room I saw him sleeping on his bed just the way I saw him in my dreams. I walked to him and he was breathing. I have never been so scared in my enter life. I always made jokes about him dying but after tonight's dream, I will change. I'll always do what he wants and I'll never refuse anything he asks ever again.
"I'll never be able to live without you my little brother, I'll be the first one to die if one of us has to die. I'll never let anything happen to you, I promise." I took his hand. "Please don't ever leave me brother. I promise I won't sleep, I'll look after you."
The next morning I opened my eyes and everyone was staring at me. I don't know when I fell asleep but the last time I looked at my phone it was around five.
"Where's Oliver?" I questioned after I couldn't see him.
"He is fetching your birthday cake, but I'm shocked Eli. This is your first birthday that you didn't say where's your present or the fact you the birthday boy." My mother replied. "By the way, didn't you sleep the whole night? Oliver told me you woke him up almost two hours ago and he couldn't sleep after that."
"I woke him up?" I asked and they all shocked their heads.
"Eli, don't you want to know what I got you?" Emily asked and I ran passed her and pumped into Oliver.
"Ollie, are you fine?" I questioned helping him up and he looked at me strange. "What's wrong? Do you have any pains?"
"I dropped the cake but you don't care?" He asked and I nodded my head. "I never knew people turn sweet on their sweet sixteen birthday." He giggled and I just smiled at him. "Mommy." He shouted and I picked him up.
"Oliver, why are you screaming? Why don't you tell me what's wrong? “I asked, panicking.
"Mother, where is my big brother, because I know this can never be my Elijah." Oliver complained and I put him down.
"Elijah, don't you know it's your birthday today?" My father asked.
"I know it's my birthday father, and thank you all for the effort but I don't want any present this year." I smiled at all of them and they all looked at me surprised. "Oliver lets go get you something to eat." I told him and before he could argue I picked him up and went downstairs with him.
"Can I eat muffins for breakfast." Oliver said and I took out my phone and called Adrian.
"Listen cousin, does your father eat muffins. Is it healthy to eat muffins in the morning?" I asked him and Adrian started laughing.
"Elijah, you called me for that? You fool my father will be at your house this afternoon because your mother called him and now you asking me what my father eats." He shouted and before I could say anything he hang up.
"Oliver you can't eat muffins, you can eat vegetables." I told him and he agreed without arguing with me. I started feeding him and the whole time Emily was looking at me like I was crazy. "What's wrong Em? Must I feed you also?"
"I'm just confused Elijah. You always let us feed you because you said mom gave birth to us because you wanted two slaves and today you are actually feeding Oliver with your bare hands. Since when do you even know how to eat with your hands." My baby sister said.
"Em, going to be late for school if you keep taking."
"Happy birthday brother and I hope God brings back my real brother." Emily put the present on the table and before I could refuse the present she left in a hurry.
"Elijah do you know what present I got you." Oliver said excited and I smiled at him nodding my head.
"The best present you can give me is promise me you will always be with me."
"I promise." Oliver replied.
Annette's POV.
I rang the doorbell and as always I thought it would be Oliver who opens it but it turned out to be uncle Benjamin. I was surprised to see him open the door for a Kingston without asking me if my grandpa send me.
Before I could walk inside he hugged me so tightly and I just stood there like an idiot. I don't know what this hug is for but I know every time I get close to this family Uncle Benjamin just hates me more.
"Thank you for saving Oliver again." He mumbled.
"I never saved Oliver." I replied confused.
"You saved him when Sofia was pregnant with him and last night you also saved him Annette. I know I don't like you because of your grandfather but you proved to me that you are nothing like him, you will never hurt any of my family." Uncle Benjamin said and everything my grandpa told me came back to my mind. I don't know whether I'll be able to always protect his family, I just hope I don't break them.
"He is my little brother uncle, you don't have to tha—"
"You came to pick me up?" Elijah asked interrupting me. "When did you get your fake licenses?" He added and uncle Benjamin left.
"I thought you could drive." I said and he just walked passed me and sat in the passenger seat. I hope he doesn't get angry with the way I drive.
"Annette, don't drive like a baby. Drive a bit faster please or else we will be in the office when our farewell is getting closer."
I started driving as fast as I could and he wouldn't stop screaming until we reached the school.
"What's wrong Elijah? We made it on time. I promise I couldn't drive faster."
"I can't talk." He ran away from me and I just got inside the school. On my way I pumped into a girl and before I could apologize she smiled at me.
"This was an accident right?" The girl questioned and I shook my head angry.
"Just because you are not from this school doesn't mean I'm scared of you and I would say it's my fault when you weren't watching where you were going." I am always nice to everyone but she just seems to be as if she is bad news.
"I-I—I-." She was stuttering on purpose. "You—Yo—u." She continued. "That's what you will say one day, trust me. Now get out of my face." She pushed me out of the way.
