Chapter 53

I started driving the car and I made a stop at the street where I met an old man. I couldn't stop think about uncle Nick and Emily and how they can be related.

"You back." The old man said and I nodded my head taking the cupcakes out. "You still lie to your mother?" He asked.

"I don't lie after all my mother always says if you lie because of a good deed or to safe someone than that isn't called a lie." I replied as he took a cupcake out. "I don't know how you love my mother's cupcake but I only force myself to eat it because I love her."

"It's not bad." The man mumbled taking a bit and before I could utter a word he spat it out. "What's this?"

"I told you my mother doesn't bake right. My father is the best but you always loved her cupcakes. I have been giving it to you for the past few months so what's wrong today."

"Your mother didn't make it, your father did." The man said shaking his head. "Have one."

I quickly took one out and it tasted so nice. I know my father is the best but why doesn't the man like it?

"This is call heaven cupcakes my mom makes it with lots of love but she can't beat my father's cupcakes no matter how much he helps her." I replied and the man gave me the cupcake back.

"I don't eat these type of cupcakes." He mumbled as a tear left his eyes. "Some memories are supposed to always stay as memories only. And today you broke my trust after I told you so many times I only want cupcakes from your mother." I was so confused about everything he said.

"Uncle, these cupcakes are really the best and I swear I didn't know my father made them. He left for Dubai today and…You know what? I'm already late for school and I have to pick up the birthday girl so please forgive me. Mother always said not to have enemies." I begged and he took something out. "What's this?" I questioned.

"Watch it on your birthday and don't show anyone except for all the children in the house." The man replied. "Don't watch it before the time Elijah, so please promise me on your mother's life."

"Thank you for the birthday present and I promise. By the way can I get some advice old man?" I asked and he nodded his head. "I'm curious about who my sisters real father is and I don't want to hurt my father but it's not fair that my sister—"

"Emily is a Carson." The man replied and I nodded my head.

"I know but I also know uncle Nick is something to her." I replied and that's when I noticed that he said my sisters name and our last name. I never told him who I am or who my sister is. I can't believe all this time he knew I'm a Carson and he never uttered a word. "How do you know my sister's name and the fact we Carsons?"

"I heard—" My phone started ringing and I quickly answered it.

"Look Adrian, I'll be there now. I'm just talking to a man who knows everything about our family." I said before he uttered a word.

"Hurry up. The school bell will ring in a few minutes you fool." He hung up and I turned around to the man but he was gone.

Annette's POV.

"Annette. I swear I'll beat you black and blue if you don't wake up." My mother shouted pulling my blanket.

"Mommy, you such a big bully." I complained trying to pull the blanket. "Let me sleep please. It's my birthday."

"Anne just because Elijah didn't wish you a happy birthday doesn't mean you won't go school." My mother said. "By the way you know he is so inpatient, if he gets out of the car, he will drag you down."

"He will just leave mommy. Just let him stay outside." I replied and my mother left the room. I finally closed my eyes again and someone pulled my blanket again. "I don't want to go mommy. Elijah can fuc—" I open my eyes to see him and he was smiling at me.

"You have five minutes to bath and get ready and if you don't get ready in five minutes, I'll drag you myself. Now go get ready, little sister." He smiled at me and I quickly ran to the bathroom. I'm so glad I open my eyes or else I would have made him hate me.

As soon as I was done in the bathroom, I quickly got ready and ran downstairs just to see Elijah laughing with my mother.

"Can we go?" I asked taking my bag from my mother and he left. "Mommy, do I really have to have a party tonight. I don't even like the people you invited."

"So that means you don't like Elijah." My mother mumbled and I gave her a kiss on the cheek.

"Except for him." I ran before she said anything else.

"What the fuck?" Elijah complained. "Why is everyone getting my favorite car but I'm not." He mumbled.

"What?" I questioned and he shook his head getting in the car. “My grandpa got it for me but I don't want it." I quickly got in the car and he turned to me. I don't know why I talk so much, now he will ask me for the car and my grandpa will kill me when I give it to him.

"I know you can't drive and you hate driving and you hate all type of car so can I have it, please sister."

Annette please say no. Please Annette for once in your life say no to Elijah without dreaming about saying no.

"Yes." I quickly turned around and bite my tongue. Why can't I ever say no to him.

"That's why I love you so much sister. Now give me the keys so I can take it home." He said excited and I gave it to him. "We already late for school so that means we will go straight to the office." He told me as he started driving the car.

We arrived at school and as always we were send straight to the office for coming late.

"Don't worry, Adrian will safe us." Elijah whispered as we entered the office. "Good morning ma'am. You look more beautiful today, your hairstyle looks different." He started complimenting her as soon as we took a seat.

"I have had this hairstyle for the whole month Elijah. Now why are you and Annette late again?" The ma'am asked.

"Ma'am. It was Adrian that forgot his book at home and I had to fetch it for him because he couldn't go back home. So please forgive us, it won't happen again." Elijah quickly said and got up. I tried telling him his cousin is standing at the back of him but he didn't listen.

"How can you fetch his book when he is standing at the back of you because he also came late?" Ma'am questioned and Elijah turned around angry.

"You fool, didn't you tell me not to come late and that I have a few minutes to make it to school?" Elijah asked Adrian.

"Yes, because I was also late so I didn't want to be in the office with you like every time." Adrian replied as they sit down.

"If you don't have a reason, I'll have to call your parents and inform them that you are late again." They both jumped out of their seats shaking their heads. "Now tell me why are you both late?"

They looked at each other and somehow whispered some type of code and they both started crying.

"What's wrong?" I asked because they were both literally crying.

"Elijah and Adrian, what's going on?" Ma'am asked.

"He left us today." Elijah uttered crying.

"He is gone." Adrian added crying with. "My poor uncle left us today."

"What are you two talking about?" Ma'am questioned.

"My father left us today ma'am and I already miss him so much." Elijah said pressing his hands together. "Please don't call my mother she is already crying for my father. They are all so broken."

"I'm so sorry children. I didn't know about this, please calm down." Ma'am said worried. "Why did you two even bothered coming to the school when you just lost a family member?"

"I have an important test today ma'am and I know even though uncle isn't here, he would never want me to miss my test." Adrian replied hitting Elijah on the shoulder.

"And I—" Elijah paused wiping his tears. "I have an important oral today. Dad will…would kill me if he was here. He never makes me miss a day of school."

"Annette, please make sure you stay with them. Don't leave them alone for even a second." Ma'am told me and I nodded my head wiping my tears. Mom didn't even tell me uncle Benjamin is gone. I wonder how mom Sofia is doing right now. I wish I never came to school today. What kind of day was I born? How will I ever celebrate my birthday again when Elijah lost his father. Maybe that's why he never wished me a happy birthday.

"It's fine ma'am. Just please don't give our parents your condolences because they told us not to tell anyone about this. Not even the media knows uncle is gone." Adrian begged her and she nodded her head.

"I would like to attend the funeral, when is it?" She questioned and Elijah bite his lip getting up.

"When God wishes." He ran out of the room and Adrian followed him.

"Make sure they are well looked after Annette. Don't let them even think about Benjamin please. They are still just teenagers." Ma'am said and I nodded my head.

I left the office and started searching for Elijah and Adrian. The second I saw them they were both laughing with each other. I just hope they are not on drugs.

"Eli and Adri, please don't feel sad. I know you both hurting but you should never turn to drugs. It will just destroy you and plus Oliver, Emily and Evelina are still young. Th—"

"Were we really that convincing?" Elijah questioned and I looked at them confused. "We never said my father is dead. I just said he left today and I never meant he died. I just meant that he left for Dubai for a business deal but that stupid principle thought he died."

"What?" I shouted and they both giggled like some stupid school girls. "It's not funny, what if—"

"I'm going to class. I'm late." Elijah left for class and before Adrian could also leave I grabbed his hand.

"You always bully me. You can't even talk to Elijah or raise your voice at him. Annette you can't even look him in the eyes without almost fainting." Adrian complained and I twisted his arm. "That hurts you idiot."

"Why did you lie so much that I believed you. Adrian why did you say uncle died. What kind of a nephew are you?" I asked letting his arm go.

"Why can't you speak to Elijah like you speak to me? Why can't you hit him like you hit me? Annette you so in love with Elijah that you let him do what he wants that's why he doesn't even pay attention to you. I'm his cousin Annette and I know that Elijah will never fall for you because of how you act. He likes girls that stand up to him like you do with me but Annette—"

"Stop saying I'm in love with Elijah. He is just a brother to me." I shouted interrupting him.

"Take my advice Annette because I know you love him so much. Annette please be yourself when you are with him, stop acting so innocent and taking the blames for him or else he might even make you his best man for his wedding after all you act like a best friend to him." Adrian chuckled. "Don't be too innocent just because you think Elijah loves innocent girls."

"You just a kid Adrian don't lecture me about love." I told him.

"I' might be younger than you and Elijah but I do know love after all I have a girlfriend unlike Elijah who is a player. Now can I leave?"

"Wake up Adrian. That girl turned you a million times." I stated and left him quickly.
