In the dragon spirit realm again


Chapter 174

Ruby’s POV

Even with my eyes shut, I could still feel the blinding hot pain that came when that huge boulder fell on me and struck my body with the force of a mountain. ‘’Arrrrhhh…’’ My scream of pain was only for a short while and it died down almost instantly as I felt the darkness finally winning over as it started at the corners of my eyes and then just swallowed everything until my vision went totally blank all of a sudden. 

Thankfully, that blinding pain was short lived and was immediately replaced by a numb weight as my consciousness just slipped away into nothingness.

Next thing, I was floating. I was in that same dark space that seemed to have become very familiar to me lately, but this time was different than before. 

Unlike my other trips here, there were no moving pictures or flickering memories of my past lives that I had always looked forward to seeing, there were no memories here as it was just a large and endless mass of darkness that spread out in every single direction around me as I floated aimlessly inside the void. 

‘’Why is it like this? Am I dead? Is this what comes for me after death?’’ I spoke out loud just to hear something but my voice didn't even echo. The sound just seemed to get sucked into the blackness the second it left my lips.

I didn't know how long I was floating there in the dark void. It could have been minutes or it could have been hours but all I knew was that it felt like a damn long time. 

But all of a sudden there was something that finally broke through my drifting consciousness, it  was a sudden, sharp feeling of warmth right inside my chest. Now, on a normal day, the feeling of my rainbow core rolling like a vortex in my chest always felt warm and pulsing with energy but this wasn't that at all.

This was something else entirely. My eyes snapped shut in the dark as I tried to concentrate on the inside of my own body, searching for the source. That was when I was reminded of the second vortex that had come to exist by the side of my rainbow core after I had emerged from the dragon spirit realm last time. It was pulsing now harder now and beating it almost felt like it was calling out to me. 

I slowly used my mind to nudge the swirling vortex, just like giving it a little push with my mind and before I knew what was happening, I was suddenly sucked inside the center of it.

In the next second the darkness was gone and I was now standing in that same exact place I had arrived the last time I was here. The lightened up walkway was filled with those glowing rainbow colors that seemed to pulse and right in front of me were rows upon rows of dragons. 

They were every different type you could imagine with different shapes, sizes, and colors with all of them just watching me with large unblinking eyes like they had been anticipating my arrival or something. But my mind didn't stay on the dragons for long.

It flew to the small gap the dragons were making in the center and I didn't even need to look for him as his voice from a few feet away immediately grabbed my attention.

‘’Mother.’’ The young child I had met here the last time was standing there. He was the only one in this whole place who seemd to be with a human body and he still had those short rainbow horns on his head. He called out to me as he came to a stop right in front of me, his large blue eyes looking way too cute for his serious look on his face.

‘’We meet again.’’ I said, feeling the need to start a conversation with him because it just felt awkward just staring at him. He had a face that looked like a mini version of Thane and by now, I was at least ninety percent sure he was Thane and Auxoria’s child. Which basically translates to him being my own child from another life. He was my son, and seeing him again i felt happy and it made my chest tighten.

‘’This realm is not stable enough for you to access it as you want just yet and it seems the realm feeding off your energy finally worked out for the best in this situation,’’ the child suddenly began. He took a few slow steps closer to me, his bare feet making no sound on the glowing walkway as he looked at me like he was explaining something very simple and to make sure i was following.

‘’Wait. So I'm not dead?’’ I hurriedly asked him, cutting him off from speaking again. At this point, I had already put one and two together and come to the conclusion that since I was back here again without doing the actual ritual, I was probably dead.

‘’Nope, you can't die a second time. You are basically immortal right now since you went through your second rebirth and passed the youngling age,’’ he said calmly, and hell did that make me happy. A large heavy pain in my heart I didn't even know I was carrying just lifted off my chest, until I paused when a sudden nagging thought crossed my mind.

‘’How do you have so much knowledge about all these things if you… hadn't even been born into the real world yet?’’ I asked softly, hoping not to hurt his feelings or remind him that he had died while still in his mothers womb.

‘’You know I do have access to your memories right? Everything you used to know, I know. Besides, I should be able to form a real body in the real world soon enough from the power of your core,’’ he said, sounding deep in thought. Suddenly, his eyebrows furrowed and his head tilted to the side like he was listening intently to something I couldn't hear. 

‘’So basically you would be coming back to life… and seeing that you have rainbow horns too, I would guess this is your second rebirth too right?’’ I asked, honestly happ if this would be the situation.

‘’Shhhh!’’ My words were cut off instantly as this little child shut me up by pressing a small hand to his lipsas he moved closer to now lean in even closer to my belly. ‘’Can you bend over a little mother?’’ he suddenly spoke up again. 

I stood there wondering what the hell was going on but I didn't say anything and just did as he said. I slowly slid down into a squat so I was now basically at the same height as him on the glowing rainbow walkway. 

I just watched curiously as he leaned in closer to my chest. I found it almost cute, watching his small ears twitch and wiggle as though they were trying to focus on my heartbeat. I heard him take a huge gasp, like he had just discovered something massive but was still a little unsure of what he was looking at. With a sudden start, his hand darted out to push hard against the center of my chest. 

My eyebrows furrowed as I realized that was exactly what Ash had done back at the house before everything went to shit. Just thinking about her was enough to turn my mood sour and make my blood boil but I quickly chased away thoughts of her betrayal as my eyes darted back down to the head full of thick black hair, so similar to Thane’s that seemed to be in deep concentration.

‘’Wow!’’ I heard him gasp with actual excitement breaking through his usually serious voice. He pushed away from me with a jerk, his hands darting out to smack both of his palms against my cheeks. It surprised the hell out of me. He had pure excitement written over his features and a large wide smile on his lips that was so infectious I had no other choice but to return it.

‘’What is it? What did you find?’’ I chuckled, feeling a strange happiness swell in my chest just from seeing his usually serious face look so childlike and free for once. I really wanted to know what had him so hyped up.

‘’It's another…’’ Before his words could even make it all the way out of his mouth, a violent sucking sensation pulled hard at my entire body. It felt like an invisible vacuum had grabbed my entire body and was now sucking me backwards with a blinding flash of light and yanking me right out of the dragon spirit realm. Heck! This one was painful and it was followed immediately by that stomach dropping feeling like I was being dropped from a mountain back into reality. 

The slight cold that had been of the spirit realm was gone in an instant and was replaced bywarmth as my senses seeemd to return to me. And then there was the heavy sensation of me finally getting full control back of my physical body and I could suddenly feel my limbs again.

My eyes didn't open yet and neither could i move too but I could feel the weight of my body resting on something soft, must me a bed.

I slowly took in deep breathe as i checked my body and i suprisingly felt fine which was weird since i am supposed to have been mashed into dough by that huge pillar. And I could also feel someone’s presence hovering over me and it felt familiar, i was sure it was Thane. I tried to move my fingers, but even that felt like a whole lot.
