Unsettled

Maximus’s POV

Monica opened the door and I tried to bolt past her but she opened her hand and shot something that blasted me back.

“Can I help you?” I hear her say at the doorway.

“Yeah bitch, we’re here for our friend.” I hear a guy say.

“Oh yeah? There’s no friend of yours here. Maxy, come tell these boys that you don’t know them.” She beckoned me forward.

I slowly walk forward but I don’t recognize any of them. “Sorry, but I don’t know who you guys are.” I said scratching the back of my head.

Monica goes to close the door but one of them stuck their foot in the way. “Do you recognize this girl?!” I hear him shout.

“Go ahead, love. Take a look.” Monica says with a smirk on her face. I peer at the phone screen and I see a photo of the girl I had in my vision.

“W-who is she?” I asked him. I watched Monica frown.

“She’s your mate!” I stilled. What’s a mate? I’m so confused but I decide to make a split second decision to go with the guys who know this mysterious angel.

“I’m sorry Monica, but I’m going to go with them, I think they have answers for me.” I tell her.

“NO!” She yells before blasting me back again. The door bursts open and four guys come barreling in. Three of them instantly transformed into wolves and the other bared his fangs at her. I laid on the ground in disbelief. Wolves? Vampires? This is just too freaky for me!

“You messed with the wrong woman!” She yells at them before blasting at them with invisible gusts of air. One of the wolves gets pushed back but another reaches her and begins trying to tear her arm off. I’m so scared I can’t move. I just watch the fight as it occurs. The third wolf grabs onto her leg and then the vampire goes for her throat, ripping it out. It’s so bloody and gruesome that I throw up. When I looked back up she was lying limp on the ground, blood and guts gushing out. The men all had blood covering their mouths. I leaned over and threw up again from the sight of all the blood.

“Max! Are you ok?” The vampire asked me. I backed up against the wall, trying to get away from him.

“Seriously dude? You’re a demon, get a grip already.” The twin with the lip ring scoffed.

“I think I would know if I were a demon!” I yelled back, wiping my mouth off with my arm.

“Well apparently you don’t know shit.” Lip ring said.

“Can somebody please tell me what’s going on?” I asked, still a bit wary of these strange creatures

“Look, we’ve been looking for your punk ass. Your mate needs you, she just gave birth!” The twin without the lip ring tells me. Is this for real? I’m still wary but I need to see this mystery woman, I just know that she holds all the answers.

“Look, I don’t know you guys but I need to see this woman. Can you take me to her?” I asked them.

“Yes. Just come with us.” The vampire said. I looked around the room, pieces of my captor strewn about everywhere. With a shudder, I made my way to the door and exited with the men.

A few hours later we arrived in Oregon. What the fuck is out here?

We drove to an apartment complex and arrived at one of the units.

“Don’t be weird with Rose. She doesn’t know that we’ve arrived yet and she doesn’t know that you’ve lost your memories. She just gave birth so we don’t want to stress her out. Act normal.” The one named Joel told me. I nodded my head and we walked in. Immediately I was hit with the most glorious scent, I followed my nose and saw an angel laying in a bed, holding two babies. I looked her over and felt compelled to move closer. She turned her head to me and her eyes got big. “Max! Oh my gods!” She handed her babies off to who I presumed were her parents, and hopped out of the bed before running to me. She enveloped me in a hug and pressed her lips to mine. I groaned at the feel of her perfect lips, I pulled her closer to me and licked her lips to gain entrance. She opened her mouth and I thrust my tongue in, tasting her. Her body gave off delicious sparks that I felt I could become addicted to.

“Rose.” I whispered hoarsely.

“Max, I love you.” She said. Oh shit. What do I say? “Um, you too.” Was the best I could manage.

She gave me a bit of a quizzical look but shook her head, probably dismissing whatever thought she had.

She then left my embrace and went to Mr. Lip ring and gave him a passionate kiss, as well. What is going on here? I watched her give each of these men a kiss and I couldn’t help but walk away for a minute. “What’s wrong?” The vampire, Colten, asked me.

“What’s wrong? Are you seriously okay with her kissing all these guys?” I asked him.

“We’re all her mates. This was normal and you were perfectly happy in this arrangement before.” He said.

“Look maybe that was before, but until I get my memories back, I think I should spend some time away.” I tell him. I turn around and walk out the door to try and get some air for a bit.

Rose’s POV

Something about Max seems a bit off.

“I missed you so much, baby, I’m sorry for running away before. I was just so hurt that I didn’t stop to think about what you went through. I love you.” Brent said while cupping my face before leaning down to press his lips to mine. Our mouths opened and our tongues tangled with each other until we both ran out of breath. I then went to give my other guys kisses, as well. I watched Max walk off, followed by Colten.

“What’s wrong with Max?” I asked my guys. They shook their heads, apparently they didn’t know what it was.

“I should probably go after him.” I started to follow when Joel grabbed my arm and pulled me into his body. “He’ll be fine, just give him some time and space.” He said.

I looked over and saw Brent holding Maddie and Damien holding Jarren. They both looked in awe at their little faces. I couldn’t help the large grin that adorned my face.

“Aren’t they perfect?” I asked.

Both of them nodded their heads. Colten came in without Max and walked up to Brent to take Maddie. Joel followed suit and stole Jarren from Damien.

“I can’t believe I’m a father.” Joel whispered. I smiled and gave him a peck on the cheek. “You’re going to be an amazing father, all of you are.” I smiled and looked each of them in the eyes. Garrett then walked up and looked me in my eyes before leaning down, pulling me into his body and pressing a kiss to my lips. Shocked I just stood there frozen like a statue. Next thing I know he’s being ripped away from me.

“You son of a bitch! I told you not to make a move on her!” I hear Joel yelling. All of a sudden, my babies started crying and I rushed to steal them both from my men.

“Get this sorted outside! You’re stressing out Maddie and Jarren!” I whisper yelled at them. I watch Joel pull Garrett outside by the front of his shirt followed by Damien and Brent. For some reason, Garrett had a large smile on his face like he planned to irritate them. I sighed and sat down on the bed with my babies. Colten was the only one who stayed inside to help me placate the newborns.

“Thank you for staying.” I told him. He smiled down at me and placed a small kiss on the top of my head. “You needed me more than I needed to go stake my claim.” He said. I laughed and then tears started to come out.

“Colten. I messed up again.” I told him. He looked at me confusedly. “Did it have to do with Garrett?” He asked. I nodded my head and he sighed before running a hand through his hair.

“What happened?” He asked. So I told him everything, about how we kissed and the confusing feelings I’ve been having. By the end of it he just shook his head. “Baby, just tell me what you want and I’ll do what I can to make you happy. But make sure you know what you’re doing. We need to talk to the others, also.” He said.

“I know, it’s just so hard. I just got Brent and Max back and I’m afraid to lose them again and so soon.” I tell him.

“I know baby, but you owe them the truth.” He said. I nodded, unsure of what else to say.

When the guys came back into the room, Garrett looked seriously beat up with a black eye, cuts and bruises all over him.

“Oh my gods! What did you do to him?” I cried out. I gave Colten my babies and ran to Garrett to check on his injuries.

“He’s a vamp, he’ll heal soon enough. He deserved it for touching what’s ours.” Brent growled out. I shook my head. I never expected them to beat the shit out of him. I want to tell them the truth about everything that’s happened while they’ve been gone but I’m concerned about telling them at the moment. I decided I’ll just wait for now.

Garrett cupped my face and looked in my eyes, “it was worth it. I know it was wrong and that’s why I let them beat me up without fighting back.” He said.

“You’re absolutely crazy.” I whispered to him.

“Crazy about you.” He whispered back. I shook my head and went to sit down.

“Where did Max go?” I asked Colten. He just shrugged his shoulders.

“I can’t believe after everything you missed walking the stage,” Damien chuckled. I laughed along with him, I was so occupied with my babies that school didn’t even occur to me. “These little ones were worth it.” I cooed at them in Colten’s arms. I gave each of my babies a kiss and leaned back on the bed, closing my eyes.

“Do you need to rest?” Colten asked. I nodded my head yes.

“Alright, we are going to acquaint ourselves with these little ones while mama gets some rest. Get some sleep my love,” he said before giving me a kiss. Each of the guys, minus Max and Garrett gave me goodnight kisses. I turned in the bed and finally closed my eyes, intent on getting good rest. I finally have all my guys back, but why do I feel so unsettled?
