Chapter 2 The Ugly Bride
With black-framed glasses covering most of her face, dark skin, and a multitude of freckles.
She wore a floral top and loose black bell-bottom pants, exuding a casual air from head to toe.
If he didn't know the driver from the Brooks family, he would've thought she was a beggar who had entered the wrong house.
After all, it was Grandpa Flynn who had personally arranged this marriage. Although he looked down on this woman from the bottom of his heart, he still had to put on a happy face on the surface.
"Come inside and meet the young master first."
Jason led Reese inside. Reese looked around and found that the interior was not ordinary at all. The decoration appeared understated, but every brick and tile was expensive.
In the hall, Jason stopped and turned around.
"Let me tell you the young master's situation first. He had a car accident in the first half of the year and has been paralyzed from the waist down."
"Paralyzed and helpless, I hope Mrs. Flynn takes good care of him. Additionally, the young master has a bad temper, so it's best not to provoke his anger, as even Grandpa Flynn won't be able to save you. Also..."
"Are you done talking? If you are, just tell me which room it is," Reese coldly interrupted Jason. She didn't like listening to people ramble, probably due to her usual straightforward approach to things. She preferred to be direct.
Jason immediately froze, staring at Reese with a puzzled expression. When Reese's gaze met his, he felt a chilling sensation.
How could this girl have such eyes?
They were clearly just calm eyes, yet you could sense a murderous intent within them.
As he snapped out of it and realized his role, he cleared his throat.
"I am the butler here. When Grandpa Flynn is not around, I am in charge. If there's anything you need, feel free to ask."
The underlying meaning behind his words was that, apart from the Flynn family's Sir, he held the highest authority and expected Reese to speak to him with more respect.
However, Reese did not buy into it. "Just tell me which room it is so I can go in by myself."
Jason did not expect this woman to act completely against common sense. Despite her plain appearance, which seemed completely different from the style of the Flynn family, she spoke with such arrogance. Especially those eyes of hers, so clear and pure, yet always emanating an invincible aura.
He could only lower his head and lead Reese upstairs, pushing open the door. A strong smell of disinfectant hit them, and it was pitch black inside. Despite the bright sunshine outside at the moment, an icy chill filled the room, making them shiver involuntarily.
She turned to Jason and asked, "Why don't you open the curtains and let fresh air in? It would help the patient recover better."
Jason shrunk his neck and coughed incessantly. How could this person be so audacious?
To criticize his methods right in front of the master.
"Master doesn't like sunlight, so he orders us to keep the curtains closed every day. You've just arrived and don't know much yet. It's better not to interfere too much," he replied.
Besides, what would an inexperienced girl understand?
Reese had never heard of the idea that not exposing patients to sunlight could aid in their recovery. She heard that Grandpa Flynn had consulted many big hospitals.
It seemed that Grandpa Flynn was truly eager for Malcolm to regain his mobility as soon as possible.
But encountering her may be fortunate for him. She had studied medicine since early childhood and was skilled in acupuncture, so she could give him a try.
However, she would have to wait until she examined him before arriving at any conclusions.
But her grandmother had warned her to stay low-key no matter where she was and not to reveal her talents.
She turned to Jason and said, "Mr. Tartt, please leave for now. I would like to have a few private words with my darling."
Jason nodded and left the room.
Jason couldn't believe his eyes. Is this girl really so forward now? They haven't even met face-to-face, and she can casually call him "Darling"?
