64. She was Kidnapped!
We didn’t make love, after that confession.
Instead, we made out.
I felt more connected to him afterwards. And, I was grateful to have him by my side. Never ever would I have thought, that I would be dating this infuriating billionaire.
Liam James.
Arrogant and cocky…yet, the best thing that ever happened to me.
Towards evening, my phone suddenly rang out. Chloe popped up on the screen.
“Hello.”
I called out to the receiver button. Still in the pink fluffy dress I had just used for shoot, my face was caked in a vampiric makeup. That was more of today’s theme, in Pink Moda.
“Eleanor…”
She trailed out weakly, in a husky tone. I wriggled my brows. “Are you okay, Clo? You sound really bad,”
“I confessed my feelings to him but he rejected me. H-He rejected me, and now…I don’t know what to do.”
“I just ruined our friendship. I am so lonely…I have no one…”
“My ex cheated on me. I’m beginning to think this is not worth it; all of this. I am not worth it…”
She trailed out. I could feel tears in her voice. She had been crying.
Gosh… I wish I was there.
“Where are you?”
I asked her, grabbing my purse and standing up.
“Orange Summers…”
“He left me here, and I’ve been drinking ever since.”
Damn…
“I would be right there, Chloe. Promise me you won’t order any bottle again.”
I ran through the corridors, taking the elevator down. Quickly, I got outside, entering the commercial bus assigned to me.
“Depends on how soon I see you,” she giggled, like she had been traumatized.
I felt various parts of me die, down.
How could Jackson be so insensitive, leaving her drunk at the bar? I hoped she didn’t get into trouble before I arrived.
She hung up the phone immediately.
“Please go a little faster, driver.” I stated, tapping my hands on my knees impatiently.
“There’s traffic, Miss Reyes so it might take more time.”
He stated, explaining.
…
By the time I got to Orange Summers, there was no sign of Chloe. I walked up to the Bar tender, asking him about her. He answered that she left with an elderly man who was clothed in a formal black suit.
I couldn’t help but notice the description, matched my blood father’s— Mr Reyes. As my thoughts wandered to what could have happened to her, I silently prayed looking at everyone in the bar, suspiciously.
I mean, she was drunk, weak and powerless. Why would they pick on her, instead of me?
Lord please, let it not be...
Let me go to her apartment and find her perhaps, puking in the sink.
Or crying in the shower, or on her bed, like the last time.
“Jackson?”
I called out, after dialing his number. Since he was the last person, she told me she had been with, he might have an idea of where she was.
“Sugar plum.”
He stated sweetly. From the background, I could hear an angelic voice of a female. I figured she was perhaps, the reason he rejected Chloe’s advances.
Which led to this shit whole situation…
“Did you come back to take Chloe home, from Orange Summers?”
I asked, in a faint tone.
“Um...no, why?”
“It’s nothing, just wanted to know.”
I sighed out, answering. I ended the call, not wanting to disrupt his moment with the girl who was obviously the love of his life.
I found myself hyperventilating. I went outside the bar, sitting on a chair. I bought a bottle of water, drinking it to calm myself down.
Chloe was more like my sister. And, I’ll never forgive myself, if anything happened to her.
I pondered on what to do. I checked her house and mine, but found no one there. Mum was asleep, when I got in. Thus, I didn’t want to disturb her.
But the minute Liam clicked my mind, I dialed his number.
“Liam!”
I cried out, in a frightened and panicked tone.
“Red…you left for work early and got me worried. Is everything okay?”
His words, sent chills to my bones. I missed him, even though it had just been a few hours we had been away.
“It’s Chloe…”
“What about her?”
He inquired.
“S-She..She…” I stammered out, anxiously. “I checked her house and mine but, found no traces of her, Liam. I don’t know what to do.”
I cried out, with tears forming in my eyes.
“Calm down, Eleanor.” he said. “I need you to use your words, so I understand.”
“I fear she might have been kidnapped.”
“Where are you, red?”
I muttered the exact place I was and he showed up, in a few moments.
“You showed up on time, thank goodness!” I called out, hugging him.
“Off course, red…you have no idea what you mean to me.” he stated. “Is everything okay? What about Chloe?”
“I don’t know what to do. I really don’t know. I’ll never forgive myself. I will never!”
More tears formed around my eyes, rolling down as I cried.
“Shh…it will be okay, red.”
“We’ll find her, I promise.”
He said. We both entered his red sports car and he drove rapidly. “Solomon.” He called out.
“Yes boss?” I heard on the receiver.
“What we feared had happened. Is the evidence ready?”
“Yes boss, we got it.”
I sighed in relief and so did he.
“Good, turn it to the cops and report my location.” Liam said, before hanging up.
In my pink fluffy dress, I hugged my knees. I couldn’t even stop myself from crying. “I just sent some of my men to your mum. You have to relax, Eleanor. It’s all planed out.”
“That old hag is doomed.” he stated, deviating his attention from the road.
Suddenly, I heard a horn sound right in front of us.
“Watch out!”
A large truck suddenly hit the car, which somersaulted rolling over.
“Shit.”
For the first time in my life, I felt everything stop…
Shards of glass, flew the air from the effect. My head hit several things. I began to hear imaginary bells, while a flash of light, reflected, towards us.
Liam’s red sports car was pressed, excessively, highly damaged, in fact, I wondered how we were still alive.
Speak for yourself…
A little voice told me.
Though upside down, I peeked in the car mirror, trying to remove my seatbelt. There were streaks of blood on my forehead.
“Liam?”
I looked by my side, calling out his name.
“No, no. You promised you won’t let this fade away. That it will remain. Don’t die on me?”
I bit my lips, saying but there was no response.
“Liam!!!”
I yelled. His head looked disfigured. Lots of blood seeped from his head and he had passed out.
Was he still alive, dammit!
“You have to wake up, Liam!!” I nudged him, but he didn’t even bulge.
Everything seemed fishy…it seemed like the truck targeted us in the first place.
What was happening? Was my father a part of this? Did he want my downfall too?
“Help us!”
I shouted really hard. Tears sprung out of my eyes, in frustration.
“Somebody...help us!!”
I screamed my guts out, wondering how this had happened in the first place. I dipped my hands in my pocket, knowing we were trapped and there was no way out.
I hastily dialed Jackson’s phone immediately.
“Jackson, please help. It’s me, Eleanor.”
“We just got hit by a huge truck. I think this is a setup from my dad and we are trapped.” I said.
“Dammit, is Liam okay?”
“H-He isn’t moving.”
I choked out bitterly. “I’m reading your location now, put it on live.”
He breathed out.
Suddenly, some group of people came down from the truck that hit us. All clothed like bandits, in overall black.
They kicked the car door open, dragging myself and Liam out.
“W-What?”
I looked down at my pink fluffy dress which was covered in blood. My hands were stained too, from Liam’s blood.
I felt really terrible and cursed whoever was responsible for this.
“Who are you people?!” I screamed out, so terrified.
“Let me go! Let us go!”
