Chapter 69

Chapter 69

"What?" Stella was stunned. "Charlotte... she's the heiress of Bliss Group?"

Ellie was silent for two seconds.

She had actually forgotten about this. Earlier, to keep Stella from being afraid to go up against Charlotte, she hadn't revealed that Charlotte was the real heiress of Bliss Group.

But now it didn't matter whether she kept it secret or not.

Ellie said coldly, "Yes, she's the heiress of Bliss Group. Once she really returns and goes through with the engagement to Richard, she'll take revenge on the Smith family. You guys haven't treated her well all these years, have you?"

Stella fell silent.

She really hadn't expected Charlotte to have such a powerful identity.

But Ellie was right. If Charlotte got everything, she would only bully her and the Smith family even more in the future.

Maybe this was the only chance to team up with Ellie and take Charlotte down.

She didn't want to watch the adopted daughter she used to look down on reach the peak of success.

"Fine."

Stella gritted her teeth. "I'll handle this. I'll make sure she gets trashed online."

"I'll transfer the money to you."

Ellie hung up directly.

In less than two hours, the internet was flooded with negative stories about Charlotte.

[Bliss Group's Real Heiress Charlotte Returns, Forces Sick Adopted Daughter to Give Up Engagement!]

[Adopted Daughter Bedridden with Illness, Still Bullied by Real Heiress, So Pitiful.]

[She's been gone for years; the engagement naturally should go to the adopted heiress. How can she just take it back?]

In no time, the internet was full of negative news about Charlotte.

Everyone said this real heiress came back to steal her identity and steal a man.

People who didn't know the full story jumped in to criticize Charlotte after reading the gossip.

[Stealing an engagement is really shameless, especially when the other person is sick.]

[Feel sorry for Bliss Group's adopted daughter.]

[Yeah, isn't the real heiress going to come out and explain? Why is she taking back the engagement as soon as she returns? Everyone knows she's been lost since childhood, so the engagement should go to Miss Ellie.]

Charlotte was still having dinner with Richard at the restaurant when she saw the content on her screen.

Her eyes instantly turned cold.

Richard saw it too and said coldly, "I'll have people remove the trending topics and clarify in the Davis family's name that I never intended to go through with any engagement to Ellie."

"Don't rush. I want to see who's helping her behind the scenes."

Ellie had just returned to the country and didn't understand the local situation. There was no way she could organize paid trolls in such a short time.

Charlotte sent the information about the troll company directly to Max.

In less than five minutes, Max had tracked it down and sent it back to her.

Charlotte saw the screenshot he found - it was Stella's account.

Stella did it.

Charlotte smiled slowly, her eyes full of coldness.

Ellie really wasn't being honest.

In Richard's eyes, Charlotte's fierce look was nothing but cute.

He smiled and asked, "What do you want to do?"

Charlotte didn't answer him. She picked up her phone and sent a text to Ellie using Stella's account.

Without much effort, she easily hacked into Stella's account.

"Miss Ellie, it's done. You know what Charlotte is doing now? She's at a bar begging the boss of the troll company to remove the trending topics. Come watch her make a fool of herself. I've sent you the address!"

After sending it, Charlotte stood up and grabbed her coat.

"Where are you going?" Richard stood up too.

Charlotte smiled at him. "To get revenge."

Soon, Ellie received the message.

She was lying in the hospital. Her health had recovered, but given the current situation wasn't in her favor, she still needed to maintain her sickly image.

After Charlotte agreed to let her stay, her parents' attitude toward her still wasn't quite right.

She could only pretend to be unwell and stay in the hospital. That way, her parents would speak to her more gently.

Seeing the address Stella sent, Ellie didn't want to go at first. She wanted to stay quietly in the hospital and lie low.

But thinking about Charlotte looking pathetic and begging, she felt an itch and wanted to see with her own eyes Charlotte's miserable state of having to beg others for help with clarification.

After leaving the hospital floor, Ellie took a cab straight to the bar.

When she reached the private room door at the bar and pushed it open, she found Charlotte sitting on the sofa with her legs crossed, looking at her with a half-smile.

"Ellie, you're here."

Ellie's eyes widened in shock. Seeing that Charlotte was fine, she realized she'd been tricked.

Although she couldn't figure out why Stella would send her such a message, this wasn't a good place to stay.

She immediately turned to leave, but somehow two men in black had appeared outside, blocking the door and not letting her go.

Ellie froze in place and swallowed.

"What... what are you trying to do?"

Charlotte stood up and walked toward her step by step.

"I've already found out about Stella using paid trolls to smear me. You think buying trolls can ruin my reputation? You think having Bruce buy up Smith Group shares can bring me down?"

In just a few sentences, she laid out everything Ellie had done.

After hearing this, Ellie bit her lip hard. Her voice trembled, but she tried to stay calm. "I don't know what you're talking about."

"Don't know?"

Charlotte laughed. "Keep pretending. When you knelt and apologized, I knew you'd do whatever it took to stay here and wouldn't behave. But I didn't expect you to lose patience so quickly."

A trace of resentment flashed in Ellie's eyes.

At this point, what difference did it make from an open confrontation?

She raised her head, finally dropping the act, and stared hard at Charlotte.

"Yes, I did it. Why is it that when you come back, Mom and Dad don't care about me anymore? The engagement became yours, too! I've lived in the Brown family for over twenty years and got nothing."

"You got nothing?" Charlotte looked at her coldly.

"You got the best education, lived in the best house, enjoyed wealth and luxury. I was treated as the Smith family's fake heiress, bullied and looked down on. Not one person in the Smith family treated me well."

"You lived my life, but you say you got nothing?"

Ellie felt inexplicably guilty for her words but stubbornly argued, "That's because you had bad luck, getting separated from your family as a child. What does that have to do with me?"

Charlotte was too lazy to argue with her. She reached out and grabbed Ellie's neck.

Ellie trembled all over in fear, trying to struggle.

Charlotte leaned close to her ear and said word by word, "Stop causing trouble, or you won't be able to handle the consequences."

Seeing that Ellie still didn't seem to understand how serious this was, she pushed her back and signaled the two men in black to act.

"Take her to the next private room and open her eyes. Let her see what kind of state Stella is in now."
