Chapter 67

Chapter 67

Ellie breathed a sigh of relief, tears of gratitude streaming down her face. Then suddenly her eyes rolled back and she collapsed to the ground.

Everyone scrambled to get Ellie to the hospital.

Charlotte could tell at a glance that she was faking it again. Too lazy to deal with it, she just helped call an ambulance as a token gesture and then went home.

Who knew that the very next morning, news of trouble at Smith Group reached Charlotte's ears.

Several executives from Smith Group called, and as soon as they got through, they said urgently, "Ms. Brown, something terrible has happened! An investment firm called ShadowPeak Capital is maliciously acquiring some of our company's business in the Southeast market!"

"They're coming on strong, and the one pulling the strings behind them is their boss, Bruce Edwards, a big shot in the investment world!"

After listening, Charlotte calmly drank a cup of coffee before saying coolly: "Got it."

Ellie was staying at the hospital, while Helen and David were at the table eating with Charlotte, and heard the shouting on the phone.

Seeing Charlotte hang up and remain calm, as if she had no intention of going out to handle it, Helen couldn't help but ask: "Something wrong at the company?"

Charlotte said casually, "Just a small matter. I'll take care of it."

With that, she got up and went upstairs.

David looked thoughtful, watching her back, and said hesitantly: "Charlotte doesn't seem worried at all. With such a big problem, can she really handle it?"

"Of course she can."

Helen said without hesitation, "If she couldn't handle it, how could she be so calm? Trust her abilities."

Charlotte had already gotten up and returned to her room. She opened her laptop, and after a few taps on the keyboard, lines of code rapidly appeared on the screen.

A few minutes later, Charlotte accessed an encrypted overseas account.

This account was something Charlotte had never revealed to anyone.

The amount of funds in the account was staggering.

The massive cash reserves would be enough to make any financial investor's legs go weak.

Charlotte smirked: "Bruce, is it? If you want to take advantage of this to swallow up Smith Group's business, you'd better see if you have the appetite for it."

After handling everything, she closed her computer and got up to go to the company.

She had just arrived at the company when Bruce was on a call with Ellie in his office.

"Don't worry, that female CEO of Smith Group is only in her early twenties, still wet behind the ears. She's no match for me!"

"I'll just casually acquire some of her market share, and the whole Smith Group will take a huge hit, and there's no way she can fix it in a short time."

Ellie said weakly on the phone: "Mr. Edwards, thank you for your trouble. After taking down the Smith Group this time, your position in the investment world will be even more solid. This is good for you, too."

"Well, I'm only willing to help you because you're the daughter of the Bliss Group. I hope Ms. Brown will look after me in the future."

"Absolutely, absolutely."

Ellie answered carelessly, a cold gleam flashing in her eyes.

After hanging up, the assistant said with a smile, "Mr. Edwards is brilliant. By helping the daughter of the Bliss Group, we won't have to worry about getting cooperation with the Bliss Group in the future."

Bruce laughed and was about to speak when suddenly his phone rang.

After answering, his expression changed dramatically.

Bruce stood up: "What did you say?"

The person on the other end was nearly in tears: "Someone is counter-acquiring our shares at a thirty percent premium. Our shareholders are tempted and are already selling."

Bruce slammed his fist on the desk: "Who did this?"

The person on the other end's voice was shaking: "Can't find out. It's an overseas account, registered on some unknown foreign island, and the owner has never shown their face."

Bruce collapsed back into his chair, his face flushed red as he waved at his assistant.

"Quick, go stop it."

The assistant scrambled out, but it was already too late.

In just half an hour, the mysterious account had acquired twenty-five percent of their company's shares, becoming the largest shareholder after him.

And after Smith Group's market share was acquired, somehow new markets were brought in from somewhere, even larger and better than what they had before!

At this point, Bruce understood everything.

No matter what method Charlotte used, whoever suddenly acquired his shares must be Charlotte's backer.

Meanwhile, Charlotte had already arrived at Smith Group.

As soon as she entered the office, she saw several executives already waiting, each with a strange expression on their face.

When they saw Charlotte arrive, they immediately stood up respectfully and said, "Ms. Brown."

"Why are you all still gathered here?"

Charlotte frowned and walked over to sit in front of them.

She said leisurely, "Didn't you get the news? The company's problem has been resolved. You can divide up the follow-up work and handle it."

The group looked at each other, stunned for a long moment.

Someone couldn't help but gather the courage to speak: "Ms. Brown, was it you? That mysterious acquisition account couldn't be yours, could it?"

Charlotte neither confirmed nor explained anything.

She looked at them with a half-smile: "Get back to work. Since the crisis is resolved, does it really matter whose it is?"

Everyone immediately understood what Charlotte meant - she didn't want to say.

Although she didn't explicitly confirm it, seeing Charlotte's calm demeanor, even if it wasn't her personally, it must be connections she had.

This capability, these connections were really too impressive.

No one dared to ask further, and as they left, they were all discussing:

"Having Charlotte in charge of the Smith Group was really the right decision. She can handle any difficult situation. She's so capable."

"Everyone says she's the fake daughter of the Smith family, but so what?"

"The fact that she could win William's favor before, and that even after William passed away, he was willing to give his shares to this granddaughter with no blood relation, shows her abilities."

Charlotte listened quietly, unmoved by their comments and praise.

She hadn't really taken Bruce's tactics seriously at all, nor had she spent much effort on it.

He was just a clown causing trouble that could be easily dealt with.

However, she had no grudge against Bruce, and the group had even less with him.

She didn't believe he would suddenly do something like this. She had to find out what was behind it.

Soon it was two in the afternoon, and Bruce, as expected, came in person.

He stood at the door of the CEO's office, his posture very humble, completely lacking the arrogance he had when acquiring Charlotte's company's market share.

"Ms. Brown, it was wrong of me to rashly acquire your group's shares. I was wrong. I shouldn't have done that."
