Chapter 38 THE GLASS SLIPPER SHATTERS.
SLOANE'S POINT OF VIEW.
The smell of medication wafts in my nose as Lucien forces the medicated syrup into my mouth.
"Swallow." He orders, his eyes pinning me with a commanding glare. I obey him, swallowing the horrid liquid as my face scrunches up in disgust.
"Ugh, that thing should be a crime." I groan as the aftertaste lingers in my mouth. Quickly grabbing some water, I wash the taste out of my mouth, gulping heavily. Lucien smiles at me in amusement as he twists the cap of the bottle, screwing it shut.
"You're acting like a child." He says, smiling, as he cleans off a little of the syrup from the side of my mouth with a towel.
"Oh, please, anyone would react that way to that thing," I said, as I pinned the bottle with a death glare. Ever since I'd walked out of that doctor's office, Lucien has been nothing short of insufferable. He'd fix my meals, force me to drink enough water, even when I'd tell him I'm full. He was like a sergeant with my medication, too.
Always ensuring that I'd be in bed the moment the clock struck eight at night. It was almost unbearable, but secretly, I loved it. Especially when he'd creep under my covers with a hungry look in his eyes, before spreading my thighs and feasting on my wet pussy.
He did that every night since the doctor, ditching school for me. It felt so good to ignore the outside world and just be in his embrace.
I'd told him about my mother, and her escape, thinking he would hate me, or push me away, but instead, he pulled me to him in a hug, and whispered;
"We'll get through this."
I wondered if my dad knew about my mom's escape, because if he did, he would have stormed inside in a protective frenzy. He knew how she got with me, especially when she's either high or going through withdrawals.
So far, the hospital hadn't called to tell me they'd found her. The knowledge of her out there on the streets, searching for drugs, and the only person she loathes filled my belly with dread every night.
But Lucien helped ease my fears, as he held me at night, caressing my back until I fell asleep. He hadn't initiated full sex yet, not even when I'd come from his mouth on me.
But his hungry eyes never strayed from my ass or my tits, not even when I showered with the door open while he jerked off to the sight of me washing my body. It was always an erotic sight with him.
Whether he was taking off his clothes, eating my pussy, or fucking me.
"Lucien," I called, relishing in the way his eyes instantly flew to me in attention. "I want some ice cream," I whispered, hoping he would allow me to have some, especially since I was almost done with my medication.
He smiled, waving me over as he opened my fridge.
Suddenly, it felt like the outside world blurred into nothing, and it was just the two of us.
No Seraphina.
No school.
No mommy drama.
\------------------
In a flash, Prom night was upon us, as Lucien took me out shopping. We were at the same boutique he brought me to a few weeks earlier, as we walked side by side, with our hands intertwined.
"Lucien, I don't wanna go." I whined, but he wasn't having it.
"No, Sloane. The last time they saw you, you were limp in my arms from fainting. Now, I want their eyes to burn with jealousy the moment you walk through those doors tonight."
"But-" I started, but he pointed his finger at me, stopping me from speaking.
"No, Sloane." He said, speaking as though I a a child. "You're going, I own the night, and the girl, so you will make Roxanne, Seraphina and every other girl there think they were created by a low budget version of the rats in Cinderella." He said, pulling me along to the dressing chamber.
I groaned inwardly, bracing myself for the rigorous exercise of picking a dress out.
\----------------------
The doors swung open, as Cassian, and Killian held onto the handles for me, as I walked through them. The moment I walked in, every pair of eyes darted to me, as everyone stopped what they were doing, and stared at me. My heels clicked against the marble as I walked, the air was filled with the smell of champagne, and expensive perfume, as The Weekend's song blasted from the speakers.
"Isn't that Bishop?" Someone whispered from my left, as a collection of gasps pierced the air.
From the corner of my eyes, I could see Lucien's smirk, as his hold tightened on mine. "See, I told you they needed to see you as the fucking queen you are."
He whispered, as we breezed past them.
I could see Roxanne at the end of the hall, on Matt's arm, as she stared at me with daggers in her eyes. Matt's jaw dropped evidently, as his eyes ran up and down my body. I could see the glint of lust, and anger in them as he clenched his jaw.
That pulled a smirk from my lips, as I held my chin up, squared my jaw, and walked confidently. Lucien pulled me to the dance floor, as the slow dance session started.
'The spotlights landed on us, as Lucien and I danced like two lovers, in front of everybody as they watched with a mix of jealousy and admiration.
The horsemen clapped from where they stood, cheering us on as Lucien pulled me to him, not even caring that Seraphina was a few feet from him. All of a sudden, my mind pushed everyone out of the rom, until it was just me and him.
His wide smile sent my heart racing, as he spun me with expert fingers, before pulling me back to him, and dipping me. A few minutes later, the horsemen swung in with their dates, dancing with Lucien and I, as we stole their attention.
I pushed it all away, and focused on this moment alone. I didn't care about Roxanne, Matt, or Seraphina.
It was just me and him.
All of a sudden, the doors slammed open, hitting the walls with such force, it almost shook them. I looked to see what caused the commotion, and my blood ran cold at the sight of her.
My mother stormed into the hall, dressed in her hospital gown and a needle in her arm. I looked into her red eyes the second she looked at me, and no one else.
She was high.
My hold tightened on Lucien as I fought the urge to sob.
"That's my mom." I whispered to him, and instantly, his body tensed and coiled as he regarded her.
There you are.” Her voice cracked in the silence. “Dressed up like the whore you are in front of the entire school. Do you enjoy embarrassing me, Sloane?”
Everyone's eyes flashed to me, but this time, it wasn't in wonder as they were before. I could feel their judgement, their amusement as my mother stood in front of the richest kids in the damn country, having a coke rant.
"Mom." I sobbed, pleading with her to stop, but she wasn't having it.
"What?" She yelled, staring at me with hateful eyes. "You ruined my life, you whore. If you had just stayed where I out you that night, I would be free, and I would do exactly as I fucking want. But you just had to be a little bitch, crying and whimpering in the dark like a fucking dog." She said, itching her neck until it began to bleed.
She turned to Lucien, with a wicked smile on her lips, and my stomach knotted with even more dread. "I hear you have some rich boy on your arm now. I wonder, did you fuck him for that? The same way you fucked my man.. hmm?" She says, referring to the delusion she conjured up in her mind.
She'd always thought I wanted to be with my father romantically, and that was why he'd sent her to a psych ward, but it wasn't the case. She'd almost killed me one night because she couldn't find her cocaine.
In a frenzy, she offered me to one of the men on the street for a night, as long as he gave her a fix., he could do whatever he wanted with me.
I was fourteen.
Luckily, my dad arrived in time, and from that night, I hadn't seen her since.
I wanted the floor to swallow me now, as everyone's stare grew heavy on me. My throat closed, and my eyes burned with tears as I stood with shaky hands at my sides.
And through it all, Lucien didn’t move. His grip on me tightened, almost bruising me, as his body coiled tight.
But I couldn’t look at him.
I couldn’t breathe., I couldn’t think past the humiliation wrapping itself around my throat like a vice.
“She’ll ruin you,” my mother hissed, as her eyes flicked to Lucien again, as her voice dripped with. “She’s nothing. Do you hear me? Nothing.!” she screamed.
I shook my head vehemently, trying to tell them she was lying, that she wasn't telling the truth, and in my vehement nodding, I could see Roxanne and Matt....smiling.
