Chapter 238 GRAND FINALE

Chapter 238 GRAND FINALE
AURORA’S POINT OF VIEW.
The door to the visiting room slammed shut with a finality that echoed through the hallway filled with other visitors and their families as the officer took Morgan in. I didn't look back to see her face or what could be in her gaze. I couldn't. My heart was thundering against my ribs, and my palms were slick with sweat.
Kai was an ever-present shield while Morgan and I went back and forth. He hadnt spoken; he simply wrapped his arms around me, his touch calming. Now that we were approaching the exit, He just wrapped his arm around my shoulder, his grip possessive and grounding, and led me toward the exit. Behind us, Silas was already on his phone, his voice a low, lethal ring as he spoke to the combined legal team from Mom’s company and his.
None of us spoke a word to each other, because we couldn’t. One question rang in our minds, fuelled by the heavy silence between us. I knew we didn’t want to utter a word, not taking any chance in case something could jinx this already shaky situation. Even then, my mind didn’t welcome the silence, because I heard the loud question in my soul;
Did it work? Or did we just waste our time to give Armando the win we’ve bled so much for?
Will we ever get justice?

Hours later, night fell, giving way to the crack of dawn. I had on a soft pink, knee-length dress with buttons; something one of the lawyers suggested I wear for the sake of Juror perception. Silas and Mom hired the combined efforts of the enigma of a criminal lawyer, Levi Vale, along with his wife, Aurelia.
They both stood side by side, their team waiting for us to be properly ready so we could leave. The tension in the Mercer estate mom and I chose to sleep over, was thick and tight. Everyone felt it. I saw it in their heavy gaze, in the way we all chose to stay silent still after simple greetings to each other.
Kai held onto me, his gaze still as soft as ever, phone pressed to his ear. “Okay….see you guys there.” He nodded and hung up.
“They’re coming too?”
“Yeah. The horsemen and the girls will be there too. Lucien’s mom and Sloane’s dad also agreed to help in any way they can.”
“It’s trial day, though. Is there anything anyone can do?”
“Yes, Aurora. Remember, it isn’t over….not until it really is.” I nodded, letting him kiss the back of my hand before moving to my forehead, the scent of me and him mixed from last night still pungent. My cheeks burned at the reminder; the way he held onto me, his whispers, his moans… my inner thighs were still sore.
“I can see it on your face, green.” Kai chuckled. I shook my head, feigning innocence.
“What are you talking about?” Biting my inner cheek, I did my best not to avoid eye contact with him. He smirked, eyes full of promise, desire, and passion.
“Later, green…..I’m going to make you mine again.” Just before I could respond, Levi called.
“It’s time, everyone. We need to get going now.” My playful expression melted, the reminder of what we were up against, and what today could hold fresh again. Kai pulled me closer and kissed the side of my head. He didn’t have to speak; I heard his encouragement clearly.
