Chapter 141 NO MORE EVIL WITCH

Chapter 141 NO MORE EVIL WITCH
NO MORE EVIL WITCH.
AMARA’S POINT OF VIEW.
I slapped a hand over my mouth in shock and horror, as her blood gushed out without control, staining the once flashy, not so perfect tiles with its deep crimson colour. My heart pounded as a sick feeling gripped my stomach at the smell of blood permeating the air. All I wanted to do was give in to the dizzying feeling washing over me, but instead, I steeled myself.
My dad stood over her body, and I could see raw fear in his eyes, as his hands shook. For a moment, he looked around in confusion, and what looked like worry as well. I made a move to step out, so I could ease his worry by letting him know someone else heard what had happened, when I heard her voice again.
Caroline coughed, blood spilling from the sides of her mouth as she groaned. No one could miss the look of victory in her eyes, even as her blood gushed, and she writhed in pain. “You thought you could just leave me, after all these fucking years?” She croaked out, struggling over the words as she hissed in pain. “I gave my all for you, and now you think you can just abandon me after I spent the better part of my years with you, Bernard?
I don’t think so.
You will long to see the children and bitch you wanted to leave me for, but it will be impossible. Because you’ll be behind bars for the rest of your miserable life.”
My dad opened his mouth to speak, but I stepped forward and said, “It is you who will either rot in hell if you cross to the other side, or in jail if you miraculously survive this.” My dad’s head snapped up abruptly in utter shock, his mouth hanging open as he stared at me.
“Amara! What are you doing here?” He rushed out, walking towards me, and pulling me behind him protectively. ” Do not come anywhere close to my daughter.” He spat, but all Caroline could do was writhe in pain even as she struggled to laugh as manically as possible.
“Hold onto your daughter for as long as you can, you bastard.” She said, and hissed as even more of her blood gushed out. “It might be the last time  you can do it without police officers pointing guns at your head.”
“Dad, don’t worry,” I said, driving his attention back to me. He stared at me with a confused expression, but I could see the fear and worry in his eyes. What Caroline did was enough to send him away falsely, especially because I wouldn’t put it past her to have his fingerprints on the knife somehow, even though he hadn’t touched it when she pulled it out.
“I don’t know what to do, Amara. If anyone sees this, they’ll think I…” he started, and stopped. My chest constricted at the sheen of tears in his glassy eyes. I knew he was trying to be strong for me, but anyone…any sane person would be utterly terrified at the sight of this.
“I already called the police,” I said, but before he could open his mouth to ask why, Caroline burst into another fit of maniacal laughter.
“Yes, Amara. Call them, send your father to prison for me.” She screeched, her words slurring now. It felt like she was finally letting up with the fight.
“Amara…..I.”
“I got everything on camera,” I whispered low enough for him to hear, and at the same time, the sound of police sirens made us turn to stare at the door.
“You….” My dad started, but held himself back as his eyes fully welled up with proper tears. He pulled me closer to him wordlessly, his body shaking with restraint as he tried not to cry.
A knock rattled the large wooden door, followed by, “This is the police, is anyone home?” I smiled sadly and gripped my dad’s hand tight before I let go so I could open the door. The sight of three tall men dressed in uniform made me smile as I directed.
“Hurry. She tried to kill herself.”
The moment I uttered the word ‘kill’, they rushed past me and dove into the house. “Call an ambulance, now!” one of them yelled, his hands applying pressure on the wound, but there was nothing he could do. The blood just would not stop flowing.
“How the hell did this even happen?” The tallest one among them asked, and from the way his badge looked, I could tell he was their chief. My dad opened his mouth to speak, but I knew he couldn’t say anything coherent, so I stepped forward with my phone in hand.
“I have everything recorded, Officer. Watch this, and you'll see the truth.”
The officer stared at me with intrigue in his brown eyes, but before he could say anything, Caroline slurred out, “He tried to kill me! He did it, arrested those monster officers. Send him far away.”
Neither of them moved, not even the slightest bit. The chief played the video on my phone, bathing the room in the sound of the events that took place earlier. I smiled happily as the feeling of relief washed over me.
I saved my dad…….imagine what would have happened if you hadn’t filmed, Amara……what would we have done?
I could only hold myself back from bursting into tears.
“Why are you not arresting the attempted murderer?” Caroline asked, and before I could throw a snarky comment, the chief walked up to the place where she lay on the floor.
“We will arrest the criminal now, ma’am.” He said, a kind smile on his face, before he nodded to his colleague. “You, Caroline, are under arrest for attempting to frame an innocent citizen.”  He started and read her Miranda rights.
I slapped a hand to my mouth again, this time in joy. Caroline would be out of our lives for good… we, my mother, my dad, and I, would never have to stomach her existence in our lives.
Not anymore.
“Me?! What did I do?” She screeched, flailing her hands against the very officer who was fighting to save her life even as the ambulance pulled up.
“I just told you what you did, but do not worry, you will understand better as soon as you’re treated. Take her away.” He directed the team of nurses who rushed in.
I stood with my arms around my dad and watched as the evil witch in my life was escorted out, never to show up again.
