Chapter 59 Chapter 59

Chapter 59 Chapter 59
I woke up with the chirping of the birds. Stretching my limbs, I sat up slowly and inhaled deeply. The sunlight penetrated through the curtains and for the first time, it felt good.

Last night replayed in my head. Lucien's expressions were worth capturing.

Today, I am feeling energetic and excited to meet him again. I walked to the bathroom and took a quick shower. After getting ready, I stepped out of the room only to find a maid standing at the door.

My eyebrows knitted in confusion as I saw her from head to toe. She licked her lips and blinked her eyes as if she wanted to say something.

"What?" I asked.

"Ma'am, can you just stay in your room?"

One of my eyebrows lifted.

Is she serious?

"Why?"

She swallowed hard.

"I will bring your breakfast to the room" she offered

I folded my arms across my chest. There is something wrong.

"I want to have my breakfast with my daughter on the breakfast table" I told her clearly.

"She has already been fed" she told me.

My eyes widened a bit, and then I realised I had woken up late.

"Still, I would like to go down to have my breakfast"

I turned around and was about to walk down when she came in my way.

"Ma'am please, try to understand"

She fiddled with her fingers.

"Try to understand, what?"

She licked her lips. Her eyes held fear and small tears were forming.

"Sir has strictly asked me to keep you in your room. If you go down, he will fire me. I will come to the streets. Please" she almost begged.

Gently, I put my hand on her shoulder.

"He won't do anything"

I just tapped twice and changed my way. Now, nothing can stop me from going down and seeing what's there that Lucien doesn't want me to be a part of. The maid called me from behind but I didn't stop.

My feet came to a halt when I felt a strange silence in the hall. I looked up to find Lucien along with his father and fiancée, sitting on the couch discussing something important.

Oh! That's why I wasn't supposed to be here. But I believe, this is the only place where I should be at the moment. They must be discussing me and I can't miss it.

At first, I froze, when all of them started staring at me like I was some ghost. And then slowly, Sophia stood up.

"What is she doing here?" She asked, Lucien.

I smiled internally when Lucien stood up with clenched jaws and tight fists. His eyes darkened as he saw me. He surely wanted to kill me with his gaze, but I stayed there unflinched.

"Lucien!" His father spoke from behind "What the hell is she doing here! We thought you forgot her. What's all this?"

Slowly, I climbed down the remaining stairs and stared at all of them.

The sound of Sophia's heels clicking against the marble floor echoed in the hall as she stomped towards me.

"I am sure, she must have seduced Lucien, last night!" She spat "You bitch" Suddenly, she grabbed my collar "Aren't you satisfied ruining our lives already that you are back again?"

I wanted to slap her tight across her cheeks but I controlled myself. I let her do whatever she wanted so things could happen the way I wanted.

"I have been brought here" I said in a low yet firm voice. My eyes snapped to Lucien who was still staring at me intently.

"What's this rubbish, Lucien!" His father snapped "Will you say anything?"

Silence.

Drop dead silence.

Everyone waited for Lucien to reply, including me. I really wanted to hear him. I wanted to see what actions he can take.

After a long moment of silence when Lucien didn't say a word, Sophia grabbed my wrist tightly and tried to push me away. As I was not ready for the attack, I lost my balance. I was about to fall on the floor with my face first but a pair of strong arms held me tight.

"Don't you dare to hurt her again!" Lucien roared, holding me tightly in his arms.

My heart flushed.

"LUCIEN!" His father shouted.

"Dad, I have brought her here" Lucien spoke.

"Why?" He walked to us.

Lucien licked his lips and exhaled a sharp breath. He held me tight against his chest as he spoke, "I have a daughter"

His father's eyes widened and Sophia gasped in shock. The silence in the moment felt like a storm.

"So all these years you were fooling us, Mr. Vaughn!" Sophia shouted "Lucien was ..."

"Since when is she staying with you?" His father asked.

"A month" Lucien replied.

"And when were you planning to tell me about her and your illegitima..."

"Don't!" Lucien cut him off.

I smirked.

Finally!

Finally, Lucien could speak against his father.

"I will not hear a single word about my daughter"

His father stepped forward but before he could say or do anything, we heard our baby's voice.

"Mummaa..."

Aurora came out of her room and ran directly to me. I stepped away from Lucien and took her in my arms. She looked up at Sophia, Lucien, and his father, one by one.

"Strawberry, go inside" Lucien tried to convince her.

But instead, she turned her head around and hid her face in the crook of my neck.

"It seems like you are keeping them here forcefully," his father pointed out.

"Father, she is mine. I can't let her go anywhere" Lucien countered.

"And you are mine, Lucien!" Sophia shouted. Aurora flinched slightly in my arms "I have waited years for you just to get this... This surprise?" She pointed at Aurora.

Aurora turned her head and narrowed her eyes at Sophia as if she wanted to

kill her with her tiny eyes. I can bet she didn't like Sophia even a single bit.

No one said anything. All of them were trying to process the surroundings.

"Okay fine!" Sophia said finally as she stepped towards us. Her eyes were fixed on Aurora who was looking back at her with equal intensity and no intentions of backing off.

I was actually proud of my little girl.

"For you Lucien! I am ready to accept her" Sophia said, eyeing Aurora "but."

Her eyes snapped to me. Sharply.

"She would have to leave!"
