Chapter 55
Evan's POV
Annie wouldn't look me in the eyes ever since we slept together. It was as if she became even shyer. It has been a week since she moved into my place but she still turned red every time I touched her and asked to make love to her.
I smirked as she kept stealing glances at me during breakfast. My cute little hamster.
"Do I have something on my way face?" I asked in a teasing manner. "You've been staring at me for the last 5 minutes.
"N...no! I wasn't," she said.
Sure, she wasn't.
"You don't need to be so embarrassed. I am all yours remember?" I said. She blushed even harder. What am I gonna do with this girl?
I grabbed her waist and pulled her towards me.
"Evan stop it! I am not finished eating yet," she protested.
"Stop being so cute if you don't want me attacking you," I laughed.
"You are stupid," she giggled.
"Stupidly in love," I said. She was making me act like a lovesick puppy but I didn't care.
"Aren't you going to be late for class?" she asked.
Right. College. Totally forgot about that.
After I moved Annie with me, she applied to the same college as me. She was really smart, so I knew she would get in, but since it was too late in the semester, she has to wait until next semester. This means I don't get to see her while I am in class. It bothered me a great deal.
I called her in between classes.
"Hey Evan," my heart fluttered when I heard her melodious voice.
"I was just calling to say I've missed you and to see what you've been up to," I said.
"I missed you too," she said quietly. "I think I might take a nap," she added.
"Oh? Is my baby sleepy?" I cooed. I knew how much she hated it when I talked like this because she wasn't used to me being this way and it embarrassed her. Which is why I loved doing it even more to tease her until she turns red.
"Stop it!" she snapped. Just as I predicted, she was embarrassed.
"Stop what? All I am asking is if my princess is tired," I pretended to be oblivious.
"Stop with the nicknames!" she said.
"What's wrong, kitten? Don't you like it? Why do you reject my love?" I suppressed my laughter as I could imagine her fuming on the other line.
"EVAN! Ugh...I am hanging up!" she whined.
I chuckled. "Okay, okay, I am sorry jeez. I wasn't getting this much hate when I called you names in high school. You are a weird one, Annie Fisher," I said.
"Just stop being cringey and act normal!" she exclaimed.
"Anyways, I'll be home in a few hours. Feel free to go out or do whatever you want and I will see you soon okay?" I said gently.
"Okay, I love you," she said. I still couldn't get enough of those words. It made me so freaking happy when she said it.
"I love you too little hamster," I said and hung up the phone.
Annie's POV
I buried my face in the pillow after getting off the phone with Evan. He is driving me crazy with his lovey-dovey attitude. I was used to his rude side but now he was acting cute. It made me blush even harder and made my heart beat faster.
I decided to get out of the house and get some shopping done. I left my grandma's house abruptly so I still needed some more clothes. I also needed to find a job even though Evan said not to worry about it yet. I didn't want to sit around and do nothing.
I took a taxi to the mall and spent a few hours there. I decided to go back home two hours before Evan's arrival. That way, I get to greet him as soon as he gets home.
My heart stopped when I saw who was standing in front of our apartment.
"So, this is where you live huh? Good to see that you aren't as useless as you used to be," my mother said as I stood there staring at her.
"Why are you here?" I asked her. I was trying not to act nervous but she still scared me to this day as the memories of her abuse flashed before my eyes.
Why don't you invite me in so we can talk about it?" she said.
"I'd rather not," I said. I tried my hardest to keep my voice steady.
"Let me in, Annie," she looked at me with a fiery gaze.
I had no choice but to do it. I am ashamed to admit, but she still had some control over me.
"There, I let you in, now tell me what you want from me? I know you have no desire to make things right with me so why did you come back?" I asked.
"I know my bitch of a mother paid for your treatments and welcomed you with open arms, but don't think she is some kind of angel," my mother said bitterly.
"She is a hundred times better than you will ever be!" I exclaimed.
"Hah, I see you got some courage to give me attitude. Must be the influence of my mother. This doesn't mean you are suddenly worth anything," she scoffed.
I tried not to let her words hurt me but they still felt like stabs to my heart.
"Anyway, I am here because I need money. I know mother gave you some, judging from those new clothes you bought," she grinned.
I couldn't believe my ears. She left me when I needed someone the most after beating and insulting me. And now she wants me to give her money?
"What are you talking about? And how did you find me anyway?" I asked.
"A friend of mine tracked you down. I knew you are living with my mother for a year so I couldn't do anything there without my mother calling cops on me. Then I found out that Evan kid dragged you back into this town so here I am," she said. Her face twisted into an ugly smile.
