Chapter Seventy
15 years later...
Scarlet dialed a number and put the phone in her ear while looking at some papers on her desk. A deep voice answered from the other end.
"Yes, my love? How are you? I have missed you. I can't wait to get back to you. I don't know how I have lived a day without you."
Tears gathered in Scarlet's green eyes, now permanently flecked with amber.
“I know, my love. I am lonely. If you don't come back right now, I will drop everything and follow you, and I mean it , you should know that by now.” She threatened. Alless on the other end of the line smiled, looking at himself in the mirror while doing his cufflinks.
“Yes, my love, of course, I know that. And I will come back to you on the set date, not later. I have to go now, love. Kisses.” Alless said and hung up. Scarlet looked at the phone and smiled.
Ye gods, how come after twenty-something years there is as much love as ever? The sight of Alless still gave her butterflies. She did not think she would ever grow out of her love for this man, who was her everything. Who was she deceiving? She could not forget him after a hundred years. How could she grow tired? It was not possible.
It has been a beautiful journey in this lifetime. Few obstacles. So much love and so much adventure. I wouldn't want it any other way. Scarlet thought dreamily, remembering all the good times.
Scarlet looked around at her spacious office, littered with all her happy memories of the past twenty-five years. She moved forward and touched her children's pictures littered all around the office. She first touched Elizabeth’s picture. She had taken this one when she was just two years old, alone, with her beautiful baby girl, who had grown up to be just like her.
Elizabeth, now twenty-three, was doing her MBA in Sweden. She had followed in her footsteps, spreading her wings. Just like when she was her age, Elizabeth wanted to experience the world. For college, she had studied at Harvard, US, her father’s alma mater, and for postgraduate studies, she had followed some friends to study in Sweden. She and Alless had understood and given her all the freedom.
Elizabeth loved business and wanted to work for the company when she graduated. She was her father’s daughter through and through.
Scarlet moved forward and touched her son’s picture. She laughed when she looked at his blue eyes, just like his father’s. They had created a miniature Alless, and the joy of seeing this young man grow up was one she could not describe. Not that she didn't love Elizabeth; she did, but James had a special place in her heart because he was the spitting image of his father, and she knew he inherited everything of his father’s. She looked through the window and saw the snow-covered panes. It was already winter.
She had known when James started communicating with his father but had just kept quiet to make their bond stronger.
She was surprised that Alless still did not understand that they had equal powers. He could hide his thoughts from every other person, but not her. She smiled when she remembered how James had made Alless promise not to tell her about their telepathy. One day, she will give them a surprise.
Still touching the pictures, she reached Sabrina and her picture, wearing their lab coats when they just graduated from medical school. It seemed so long ago. Her friend, sister, and confidant, Sabrina, had been her rock and true friend all these years. She had never once judged her and Alless for being different and totally accepted them for who they were without question.
Right now, she and her husband of eight years are holidaying with their young daughter, Hailey, in Hawaii. Wondering who she finally married? Of course, none other than her fated mate, Eduardo. After a long courtship, they finally agreed that marriage was the best. Even though she was entirely human, it was discovered that she and Eduardo were fated mates; such was the way of the gods.
She and Alless had been over the moon when they announced that they were getting married. With their marriage, Sabrina officially became a member of the clan. No more secrets; even if she never had the powers they did, their children would inherit some powers from Eduardo. Eduardo still followed Alless everywhere but had been granted a month's holiday, but if anything happened in his absence, he would be summoned immediately.
Scarlet continued moving until she reached her parents-in-law's very big picture, adorning the greater wall of her office. Yes, it had to be because they owned this hospital. When Antonio knew that Scarlet would never be happy anywhere else except the hospital, they built a state-of-the art hospital in the heart of Verona and put their beloved daughter-in-law in charge.
So, she and Sabrina managed the hospital so well that people from around the world were referred to their hospital for various treatments.
Scarlet looked at the pictures of Antonio and Carla Rossi and silently gave thanks for how she had been blessed with such parents. Especially Carla Rossi. Since the first day she met that woman., the void of a mother in her life has been filled, and Estelle's mother has become a distant memory.
Finally, Scarlet came across a picture of her, Mario, and their father. Oh, her beloved father. After Alless and her children, her father and Mario were her most beloved people. The thoughts of them filled her with happiness. Yes, in this lifetime, she has been blessed and hopes for nothing else.
As she was moving to go back to her seat to finish up the paperwork on her desk, she caught sight of her reflection in the mirror. A youthful young lady looked back at her. At forty-three, Scarlet looked exactly the way she looked at twenty. Her features remained unchanged. Her hair was still the color of spurn gold, with no evidence of gray. Her figure was still as slim as it was when she had not given birth to her children.
Hopefully, people will not begin to question how she remained young all these years. Lately, the whole clan has thought of relocating back to its origins before people began to point fingers at them, especially with the new generation, as they will eventually stop aging.
"Chief, chief, we have an emergency!" a young intern yelled from outside Scarlet’s office. She hoped it wouldn't be serious as Sabrina was on vacation. She quickly picked up a lab coat and dashed through the door, already shouting for the nurses.

“My love, I have missed you. Please stop me anytime I want to travel alone; I can't survive being apart from you again.” Alles murmured against Scarlet’s still-firm breast. He has not gotten tired of touching and playing with them after so many years.
Alless looked down at his wife and smiled. His blue eyes were twinkling, and his head was still full. "I have missed you too. Even if you beg a million times, I will not allow you. No more separation, my love," Scarlet begged. These two weeks have been terrible. She now understood why Nana had refused to follow them to the States when they had asked her to. The mate bond was too strong.
Alless looked at the woman who has filled him with joy in two lifetimes. He brought down his face and sealed the promise with a deep kiss. "No more separation my love." Scarlet returned the kiss, and the two lovebirds went on their favorite journey: their secret paradise, which belonged to them alone, When Alless thrust into her, Scarlet immediately became constricted, and her eyes changed to pure amber.
“I am yours, my love, yours forever.”
“Yes, mine in every lifetime." An echoing light glowed in his blue eyes. With a deep roar, they both gave each other a bite on the neck that triggered their orgasm, and it was something they had never known before.
And so continued the love of Alless and Scarlet, a love never seen before in all generations of the two clans and told from generation to generation in all kingdoms: werewolves, vampires, and lycans alike, a testament that not only humans exist on earth and that there are other species who are neither werewolves, aliens, nor vampires, but they do exist.
