Chapter Sixty-Five
The wedding day of Allessandro Rossi and Scarlet Montgomery dawned with an air of anticipation and excitement at the Basilica of Saint Anastasia. The grand building, accustomed to hosting significant events, now stood ready for a union that promised to captivate hearts.
Security measures were stringent, as only close family, intimate friends, and business acquaintances were permitted inside the basilica. Large tents dotted the grounds outside, accommodating the press, social media influencers, and curious tourists who had gathered in hopes of catching a glimpse of the celebrated couple.
As the hour approached, the arrival of the Rossi and Montgomery families signaled the commencement of the ceremony. Each family arrived in an elegant procession, greeted warmly by the soft June sunlight filtering through the ancient stained glass windows of the basilica. Security personnel ensured a seamless flow, allowing only those with approved access to pass through the majestic doors.
Inside, the atmosphere was serene yet charged with anticipation. The scent of fresh flowers mingled with the soft strains of classical music, setting the stage for a momentous occasion. The media personnel, discreetly positioned, were prepared to capture every intimate moment with respectful distance.
Allessandro Rossi, in his tailored suit, exuding quiet confidence, awaited with a mix of nervousness and joy. His gaze wandered occasionally towards the entrance, where Scarlet Montgomery was to make her grand entrance.
Meanwhile, Scarlet, radiant in her ivory gown adorned with delicate lace, was escorted by her proud father. Her heart raced with excitement and a touch of nervousness as she approached the threshold of the basilica. Her eyes sought out Allessandro’s assurance and love amidst the sea of faces.
Their first look was a moment frozen in time. As their eyes met, years of shared memories and dreams converged into a single, profound gaze. In that instant, the depth of their love was unmistakable—a love that had weathered challenges, celebrated triumphs, and grown stronger with each passing day.
In a quiet corner of their minds, both Allessandro and Scarlet replayed the journey that had led them to this sacred moment. From the first spark of attraction to the gradual deepening of their bond, they had navigated life’s twists and turns together. Their relationship was a testament to patience, understanding, and unwavering support—qualities that had shaped them into individuals ready to embark on this new chapter as one.
Allessandro, his voice steady yet filled with emotion, began. "Scarlet, from the moment our paths first crossed, I knew you were the one who would forever change my life. Today, surrounded by our loved ones and our precious twins, James and Elizabeth, I stand here in awe of the love we have built. You have been my rock, my confidante, and my greatest joy."
Scarlet's eyes glistened with tears of happiness as she responded, her voice a soft melody in the sacred space. "Allessandro, you are my heart and my soulmate. From the depths of my being, I vow to cherish and honor you, to support and encourage you in all that life may bring. With our children as witnesses to our love, I promise to nurture our family with patience and kindness."
Their vows intertwined seamlessly, weaving a tapestry of promises and dreams for their future. They spoke of laughter shared over morning coffee, of late-night talks that deepened their understanding, and of the quiet moments that spoke volumes in their unspoken language of love.
"And as we pledge our lives together," Allessandro continued, his voice echoing with sincerity, "I promise to be your partner in all things, to celebrate your triumphs as my own, and to hold you close in moments of sorrow. With you, Scarlet, I am whole."
Scarlet, her gaze never wavering from Allessandro's, added, "I promise to always listen with an open heart, to walk by your side through life's joys and challenges, and to continue growing alongside you as we nurture our family and our dreams."
Their vows concluded with a promise that echoed through the basilica, touching the hearts of all present—a promise of eternal devotion and a love that knew no bounds.
As they exchanged rings, symbols of their commitment, Allessandro whispered, "With this ring, I pledge my love and fidelity, now and forevermore."
Scarlet, placing the ring on Allessandro's finger, murmured, "With this ring, I give you my heart, trusting in our love to guide us through all that lies ahead."
In that sacred moment, amidst tears of joy and heartfelt applause, Allessandro and Scarlet embraced, their love a source of hope and inspiration for all who witnessed their union. The Basilica of Saint Anastasia seemed to resonate with their promise—a promise of a love that had weathered trials and triumphs, a love that had grown deeper and more enduring with each passing day.
As the two lovers exchanged their vows, a sigh went up in the congregation.
Sabrina, who was tending to the twins, in her violet dress as lady of honor looked sweet but sad. Her best friend had her forever, happily ever after. When will her turn come? She wondered and looked over at the man she loved more than life, Edwardo, at Alless’ side. Will we ever come to this?
Edwardo felt a gaze and looked over at Sabrina. " Let this wedding be over, my love; our turn will definitely come. We will have our time." He promised silently and moved his eyes back to Alless.
Carla and Antonio Rossi looked at their son and thought, what a fine specimen of a man we have produced. They looked every inch like the proud parents they were.
Not far from there were Leonardo and his ever-faithful friend Diego. “We did some things right, didn't we, Diego?” He said , looking at his children, Scarlet and Marion.
Marion stood close to his sister as her guardian while Scarlet exchanged vows with Alless. No one would ever guess that he was more than a brother but a deadly assassin when the occasion demanded and that he would protect his sister to the death.
"Yes, we did, Papi; oh yes, we did.” Diego, Head of the Red Moon Clan, responded, nodding at his friend and sworn brother. He looked at Scarlet and Marion, the two children who had grown up under him. It was just yesterday when he held a squealing Marion, red-faced and sickly, after his mother passed away. He couldn't believe how time flew by so quickly. A sheen of tears gathered in his gray eyes. He loved these two so much, as if they were his own.
Leonardo, who could feel every bit of Diego’s emotions, placed a hand on his shoulder. Speaking through their link. “Thank you; without you by my side, I would not have been able to make it.”
Diego understood what his friend meant and placed his hand on top of his, nodding his head, and they continued to look at their children, happy with the world.
As the ceremony unfolded, vows exchanged, and rings placed upon fingers, the basilica seemed to hold its breath in reverence. Allessandro and Scarlet’s voices, steady with emotion, echoed promises of love and commitment that resonated throughout the sacred space.
Amidst the applause and heartfelt congratulations that followed, Allessandro and Scarlet shared a private moment, stealing away to a secluded alcove within the basilica’s walls.
Wrapped in each other's arms, they whispered words of love and gratitude, marveling at the journey that had brought them to this pinnacle of joy. Unknown to them, their joy was about to be cut short. will Alless and Scarlet ever be free of gheir shared heritage?
