Chapter Sixty

Scarlet dressed up carefully as she prepared for dinner. Alless had been acting sneaky. He and Edwardo have been out for the past hour. He had not even told her where they were going. That was very unlike him.

Scarlet became thoughtful. What was this guy up to? And he had even told her to dress up extra nicely.

"Looking at myself in the full-length mirror, I look okay." She commended herself.

She was wearing a knee-length strapless shift dress in aquamarine green that brought out the color of her eyes. She looked quite sexy, but not slutty. No, she could never disregard etiquette, as all the parents will be at the dinner table.

On her feet were strapless, high heeled sandals, showing off her beautiful feet. Doing a three-sixty, Scarlet spun around in front of the mirror and wondered if Alless would approve of this look. She had let down her golden hair, and there was a burnish spark to the tendrils that clung to her forehead, giving her a classy-sexy look. She finished up with a scarlet lipstick that completed the look.

Leaving the apartment, she went to check if the twins were set. On her way, she mindlinked Alless, "Where are you, my love, and what are you hiding from me?”

Alless on the other side, on the way back, smiled. “Don't worry, babe, I have a little surprise planned for you.”

“Babe? You never call me babe,” Scarlet replied while still walking, feeling butterflies in her stomach.

This man will never seize the opportunity the opportunity to amaze her. “And what surprise do you have for me? It was supposed to be a simple dinner with the whole family." Scarlet went further.

“Don't worry, it's nothing much; be there soon; I love you,” Alless told her and closed off the link. Scarlet chuckled and continued on her way to the nursery.

On her way, she knocked on Sabrina’s door. “Babe, are you ready?” Scarlet asked. "Just a minute." Sabrina responded from inside.

"Okay, meet me in the nursery so we can get the children."

"Alright. I will be right there." Sabrina called out.

On getting to the nursery, Scarlet was pleasantly surprised to see the children ready. Nana was carrying Elizabeth, while the other nanny was playing with James on the couch.

The children were looking so adorable. Elizabeth was dressed in a peach-colored ballerina dress, which brought out the violet in her eyes, while her brother, James, wore a mini black suit with a peach bow tie to match his sister's dress.

Scarlet's motherly heart did a somersault at the sight of her children, and her green eyes got misty with tears.

She could not believe that these children were hers.

She just stepped into the nursery silently and gave Elizabeth a hug. kissing her all over rosy cheeks. Elizabeth began her favorite song, "Mama, Mama, Mama."

Not long after, her brother joined the song. Scarlet, delighted, went over and scooped up James from the couch, and of course, Elizabeth had to stretch her chubby hands to be carried by her mama too.

"Hi babies!" Elizabeth laughed, nuzzling the necks of the children.

"Oh no, Princess, you are so well dressed; they will ruin your nice clothes. Here, let me take them." Nana said and took the children out of Scarlet’s arms.

The children protested, struggling to go back to their mother.

“Hey, you guys behave; don't bother your mother.” They suddenly became very quiet, afraid of being scolded by Nana. Though they loved her, she was a bit too stern for them. Their mama and papa were the best.

"Papa! Papa!" The twins suddenly exclaimed, surprising everyone in the room.

“Also, when did you arrive? And you are already dressed up!" Scarlet turned and went to her husband, who looked splendid in his tuxedo. She rose on tiptoes and gave him a kiss on the cheek. Whispering, “You look so hot, baby; I can't wait to take this tux off you.” Alless laughed out loud at Scarlet's flattering words and attempt at flirting, then bent down and nibbled on Scarlet's earlobes, which were holding simple gold loops.

"And I can't wait to get you naked, my queen." He said in their minds the link. Scarlet's face and neck turned red.

"You look good, my love. Green becomes you." Alless looked at his wife in admiration and commented out loud, kissing her cheek. With that, he stepped properly into the nursery and nodded to all the occupants.

Nana and the rest gave a deep curtsey when they saw Alless. He nodded in acknowledgement and went forward to scoop his children from Nana's arms. The children were delighted to be with their father and showed it by holding onto his neck tightly.

"Let's go; dinner is waiting, and Nana, I want you there too." Alless turned and told Nana before shepherding his family towards the dining area.

Meanwhile, Sabrina had taken care of her dressing, especially tonight. She had no idea what today would look like and had no idea if it would be the last time she would be seeing this family altogether, so she took time to dress up.

After Edwardo left, he made a promise to be back and for her to wait for him. She never saw him again. She had waited for hours, and he had not even bothered to call her to give an excuse for not coming back.

"I give up; there is really no future for us."

She combed her luxurious red hair viciously until tears began to come out of her eyes. Muttering, “I am only here because of Scarlet and nothing else, nothing else at all."

Looking at her face in the mirror, her reflection seemed to be mocking her.

"Are you sure you are only here because of Scarlet?"
