Chapter 130 - Fish-Man

Jasmine gave Jack a smoldering look. "Your hunger is becoming hippo-type, ravenous."

Both of them were seated close to a lake. Two days have passed since they first saw Poseidon. With the fish they brought in from the lake, Jack isn't messing around. He's starving. That's evident from the way he's eating the fish. Instead of chewing, he takes multiple bites and swallows it.

Without even glancing at Jasmine, he muttered, "That's because I'm damn hungry." He takes several more bites before swallowing without chewing.

He snatched another fish from the fire before finishing the one he was currently eating. He used his ability to create fire to gather a few planks of wood and start a fire some time ago after obtaining the fish from the lake.

For the past few days, he hasn't been able to eat healthily. Maybe he could move into the lake so he wouldn't run out of fish.

Jasmine looked at Jack with wide eyes of surprise. She warned, "You might have to slow down before the bones slow you down."

She has probably never seen Jack eat like this before—like, in weeks without eating. On their journey to the Isle of Mountains, they have only eaten fruits. This is the only time they have found anything edible since escaping Poseidon.

Jasmine did not eat as quickly as Jack did. She was eating her fish slowly—biting, chewing, swallowing—and she expected her spouse to follow suit.

Jack stood up and said, "We should get more fish." "I still have hunger."

Making his way closer to the lake, Jasmine said nothing but only stared with a wide mouth.

Jack saw a man with his arms crossed and a stern expression on his face just as he was ready to jump into the lake. In the middle of the lake stood the man. He was bare-chested. With his eyes fixed on him, Jack could see his hirsute chest.

"Jasmine!" Jack bellowed.

The mysterious man dove into the lake, exposing his lower body—which includes a fish part—before Jasmine could stand up to respond.

"Oh no!" Jack drew back quickly, crying out in complete dismay.

Jack was still nervously staring into the lake when Jasmine hurried down to meet him. "What is the issue?" Jasmine asked inquiringly.

"We may have just consumed a man," He let out another cry.

With haste, he put his hand in his mouth to make himself puke. Jasmine stopped him before he could get to his throat. She grabbed him by the hand and yanked it from his mouth with great force. She asked, her face showing concern, "What's the matter?"

Jack falls to one knee. His voice trembled as he raised his head to the sky and spoke. "We had a man-fish for dinner."

Jasmine started to wonder what Jack had observed. Given the way he was speaking, he must have seen something. She slants to put her face nearer to Jack. "What observations did you make?"

Jack opened his mouth to stifle a terrified reply, then glanced at her. He halted and inhaled deeply before saying, "We ate what we shouldn't have eaten." "Inside the lake, I noticed a man." As soon as I called out to you, he dove into the lake and showed off his fish part. He had a human portion of his body and a fishtail, just like a merman. We may have eaten merman instead of fish, I believe.

"You must settle down." Jack's hand is softly taken by Jasmine. Glancing up at him, she spoke again in a tasteful tone. "Could you explain how the human portion you observed looked?"

Jack gives a nod. Then he opens his mouth to say something. His long red curry hair cascaded over his shoulders. His chest's hairs are also red. His beard was twisted into three knots, and his eyes were blue.

"Oh dear, not him also!" Jasmine let out a cry.

"Are you familiar with him?"

Jack was curious as he looked at Jasmine. But his greatest concern was that he might have substituted a man for the fish. All he wants to do is regurgitate everything he has eaten. As long as he remains in the realm of the dead, he will never eat fish if his fears come to pass.

With haste, she helped Jack up and got herself upright. She uttered, "We have to leave now."

"Who the hell am I seeing that?" Jack gestures toward the lake.

In order to satiate his curiosity, he needed answers. If what he ate was a man who turned into a fish, then he will never eat fish in the land of the dead. Before he could forget he'd even eaten lake fish, he needed to be certain.

"Staying here is not safe." Jack's hand was swiftly taken by Jasmine. "We must head out right away before he and his father return."

His father, who the devil is he?

Jack has never been more inquisitive. He is no longer interested in finding out if he actually ate a fish or a man disguised as one. He had to find out who the father of the fish-man hybrid he had seen earlier was.
