Chapter 96 Courage II
Chapter 96 Courage II
"Did Hermes go mad after losing his mate?" I thought of Ares. How was it possible for him to do everything that Wolfs said he would do, if a werewolf could go mad from the pain of losing his mate?
Alaor's answer cut off my train of thought.
"The Beta was a coward, incapable of challenging the Alpha even when he was weakened without his Luna. When my mother got pregnant with Estela, he changed his plans. He didn't need me anymore. All he had to do was pair Estela with Ares, and he would have the same power behind the scenes—this time with his legitimate daughter, not another male's bastard like me. His plan went wrong. Hermes lusted after my sister and did everything to break her bond with her true soulmate; he even used witchcraft." Alaor laughed loudly, throwing his head back. "It was so easy for me to corrupt her bond with the soulmate she never met. I didn't need any witch to help me."
I tried to organize the information in my mind, and when the pieces finally clicked, I collapsed to the ground.
"You! Oh, Allah, you are an Alpha... You are the only other Alpha in the territory besides Ares! You and Estela..."
I couldn't fight the wave of nausea anymore. My turned stomach expelled all its contents.
"Are you sick? You're not pregnant, are you? If you are, I'll have to kill the pup!" He gripped my chin tightly. "Answer me, are you pregnant?"
"No, you idiot! Did you forget I was locked up for taking contraceptives?"
The force of the slap I received made me see stars as I hit the ground, landing hard.
"Respect your Alpha, female, or will I have to ride you right here and now to submit you? It's not a bad idea. Your time in prison must have cleansed your womb of that human poison..."
To my horror, I noticed his length hardening as he spoke.
My brain frantically projected different and terrifying images. I grew dizzy, struggling to breathe, my lungs unable to take in oxygen. The noises of the forest grew louder and louder, the ringing in my ears deafening.
I was having a panic attack in the middle of the woods, in front of a werewolf with the worst possible intentions.
In the distance, I heard a powerful werewolf howl.
"Shit, we have to go. They noticed you're gone! We're close to the camp; we'll be safe there."
I crawled away from him with difficulty and slipped my hand inside my tunic. To my horror, the top buttons had snapped open, creating a plunge that exposed the tops of my breasts. His eyes gleamed, and he ran his tongue over his lips.
"I don't have time for this right now, female, but I will ride you the second we get to camp."
He leaned down to grab me off the ground, and that was when I pulled out the knife I had swiped from the breakfast tray from my bra. As he lifted me up, I sliced the blade right between his legs.
He threw me away from him, grunting in pain.
I think I cut his testicles right in half... hehe, sliced his family jewels...
I took the chance and ran. I knew it was crazy; he would catch up to me soon, but I refused to give up without a fight. If serving as a broodmare for Ares was already worse than death, imagine a life of sexual slavery for this pervert!
Death felt like a blessing compared to that future.
I gripped the small knife with all my strength, terrified of dropping it like those helpless girls in stories who are always tripping and dropping the only weapons they have.
I've watched enough horror movies to avoid that kind of stupidity.
It didn't take long for the enraged werewolf to pounce on me. Alaor's heavy body covered mine, and we rolled across the ground, tumbling down the canyon in a painful fall. We rolled with him clinging to me, my back burning as I slid across the dirt full of pebbles and forest debris.
The fall seemed endless. His claws dug into my shoulders, and we ended up in a free fall. We landed with his body underneath mine. The agonizing pain shooting through my entire body kept me awake, and I crawled away from him.
Alaor was sprawled on the ground, his chest moving as he breathed—an annoying sign that he was still alive.
Without wasting any time, I got up and started running as far away from him as I could. I knew I didn't have much time; he would wake up soon with a werewolf's fast healing and come after me.
If he catches me, I'm done for.
The river grew narrower and shallower. I drank a little water and walked through it, testing the depth. I reached the halfway point, with the water just above my waist, and crossed it without any trouble. My body was exhausted, but I kept running, forcing my muscles to take me somewhere—anywhere—far away from Alaor.
Unfortunately, luck didn't seem to be on my side, because Alaor's wolf was hot on my heels. He had a broken paw, bone exposed, and yet he was already right behind me.
I grabbed a branch from the ground to defend myself, holding it with both hands. The wolf was furious. He tried to lung at me, but I hit him right in the head. He snarled loudly, drooling with hatred, his massive teeth on display.
There was a cut on my leg, blood dripping down to the ground. I was weak; I didn't know how much longer I could hold out. I stepped backward, swinging the branch, and Alaor's wolf stayed in place, growling loudly and threatening me.
Suddenly, he huffed, turned around, and ran away. I kept walking backward, confused, wondering why he had given up.
Was he actually afraid of me?
I did hit that big head of his pretty hard with that stick!
What did he think?
I am a human woman, yes, but I can hit him with a stick again!
"Yeah, run away, you psycho! If you show your face in front of me again, I'll smash your shit-filled head!"
I screamed, full of relief, satisfaction, and pride. When I turned around, I came face-to-face with several massive men staring at me. They had long hair, with a few braids mixed into their smooth, silky locks. They were tall, like every werewolf I had met so far.
And they were all completely naked!
