♡ Mia’s pov
“You didn’t go to kill the baby did you?”
I felt like I was zapped somewhere else, another reality, where no one spoke, not a single sound was heard, except for Brianna’s voice.
I looked around the room lost with my ears ringing.
I must’ve heard wrong.
Why else would everyone be so frozen?
Why we’re there no reactions or changes of expressions?
Why was Kade so-
I stop when my eyes fell into a blue storm. He was also frozen where he stood, his hand still plastered to the table, his gaze still on me, his face so…stiff.
His eyes, on the other hand, they told something, they wanted to express something. But all I seem to get out of them was the look of confusion.
“Did you?”
Her voice, was so acidic with false worry. So nasty.
They pulled me out of that reality where I only saw frozen faces and threw me in another where the faces expressed different emotions.
Confusion. Shock. Interest. Intrigue. And expectation. They were expecting my response.
My heavy tongue gave me relief, rolling words that came out without emotion. “What are you talking about?” I
asked.
I remove my eyes around those who stared at me and connected them with that of Brianna’s. Those eyes were nasty with mockery.
She wasn’t worried. She was just vile.
“Serena heard you two in the bathroom. Isn’t that right Serena?” She turns to a red haired girl that sat at the exact table she came from. Serena.
She was one of Brianna’s friends, another cheerleader. I was hoping she would not have been another cliche. Unfortunately, she seemed to be another Cruella de Vil.
Serena nodded her head but looked away from my eyes nervously. ” Yes. She told Colby she was pregnant. I heard them. She had been vomiting prior.”
I gritted my teeth. It was my fault she had heard. I shouldn’t have spoken in a public bathroom, especially about something so private and personal.

Something that should have been private. But Brianna seems to think she had the privilege of knowing or at least talking about it.
With my gaze on Serena, I said with the same unemotional voice I responded with. One that would’ve chilled bones if it had the power to. “What you heard was not any of your business. And wasn’t yours to talk about, especially with someone who didn’t deserve to know.”
Serena squirms in her chair, shifting herself closer to Drake, one of the football players and also one of Brian’s friends.
I had no courage in me to look at Kade. It was a pity I couldn’t since I could feel his gaze burning through the side of my face.
He wanted answers.
“So you’re saying what she heard was true then? That you are actually pregnant?” Brianna’s voice is sweet to those who didn’t recognize the bitterness of taunting in her voice.
And perhaps they also thought she was concerned about me. They were all fooled by her pretty features and her fake ass sweet voice that sounded like a damn grater in my ears.
Before I can respond, Colby who still had his arms around me, drops me to take a step forward to stare down Brianna.
“I never took you for a girl who liked to push her nose into someone else’s business. But then again your nose does look a tad bit long and big, it’s no wonder it poked through someone’s personal business.” Colby sneered.
There’s a chorus of oohs that slapped through the air after Colby spoke. Brianna who showed the cracks of embarrassment, lifted her hand to her nose and pressed down while denying it.
“My nose is not long and big. It’s perfect. A lot nicer than yours I would say.”
She glares at Colby, showing her true unveiled emotions.
With amusement in his voice, Colby responded. “Is that what you tell yourself when you look in the mirror and have to stare at that God awful nose that keeps bugging in people’s business unannounced?”
With a lifted brow Colby uttered. “You should really get that checked.”
“Brianna?” I hear her brother’s voice call out to her but she ignores him, just like she chose to ignore Colby’s words to send me a hateful glare.
“Don’t forget I had also witnessed you vomiting that day Mia. You’re not so innocent as you try to portray yourself. It’s a shame that you missed half of the day to go abort the baby. Does the father even know?” Her voice had gone back to the sickly sweet tone that troubled my ears.
Murmurs tangled into webs as they brushed the air around us.
It annoyed me that she really did think she had a say in something so private and personal.
But as annoying and irritating as she was, she didn’t deserve the satisfaction of humiliating me or seeing my resolve shatter.

I step forward, walking closer until I past Colby and I was so close to her that one more step would have us breathing each other’s air.
I see her contemplate if to back away through her eyes and nearly laughed.
Looking at her without a wink of emotion on my face, I uttered with boldness. “You don’t need an answer or an explanation. Because what is my business is certainly not yours. But since you’ve insisted on prying just for the sake of humiliating me, I’ll answer you. I’m not pregnant Brianna. Never was and if I was, it would still not be any of your concern.”
My gaze roamed her angered face. ” Now that you got your answer I do hope you get a life and mind your business from now on. Now if you’ll excuse me, your mere presence is suffocating me with the stench of jealousy.”
I turned around to leave with my head held high. Colby sends me a proud smirk. But it fades as soon as I feel fingers wrap around my arm and force me to turn back around.
I’m greeted by Brianna’s angry blazing eyes. “You’re lying! You’re trying to cover up the fact that you-
I try to tug my hand out of her grip harshly, snarling in frustration. “Let go of me!”
But her grip was steel like and when I twisted my arm around and try to pull myself away from her, I end up stumbling. With my failed attempt to right my footing, I twist around in the midst of my toppling and ended up knocking into the edge of a table.
Those occupying the table gasped as they witness the edge of the table digging into my stomach painfully.
I cried out, my palms pushing forward to land on the surface of the table before I fall completely.
Tears of humiliation weren’t the ones that came to fill my eyes. No, it was the tears of pain.
Something was wrong.
“Mia!” A loud shout of panic cracked through the tense silence.
I hear running feet and then feel arms wrapped around me. But I couldn’t seem to acknowledge his hold nor could I seem to grasp Colby’s worried voice as he too come beside me to hold me.
All I could focus on right now was the very painful throbbing that felt like someone had gutted my womb. It was the most excruciating pain I’d ever felt before.
“Mia baby, what’s wrong?” Kade’s face digs into my hair as he whispers in my ear urgently, trying to pull me out of the hold of pain that knotted my stomach.
“Mia?” Colby asked in equal worry, gripping my arm as Kade pulls me into him further.
I would have explained the pain I felt like period pain but it certainly wasn’t so. It was too brutal, too tearing for my womb to even compare it to menstrual cramps.
This was something more. Something unbearable.
“I didn’t mean-

I can hear Brianna’s whisper at the back of me but not even the sound of her voice can bring anger to swirl through me. The only emotions I could feel right now were pain, fear, and panic as I felt something trickling down my legs.
I turn my head to Kade and when he pulled away to search my face with his worried gaze, I breathed out in terror. “Something is wrong Kade.”
I drop my head to the floor and my heart squeezes when I see red brush the edges of my white converse and feel the blood dance down my ankles.
“She’s bleeding!” Someone’s shocked gasp made the entire room tremble in murmurs.
“Someone call 911!” Kade roared in fear as he pulls me into his arms, just as I bend over to clutch my stomach by the excruciating zap of pain in my lower belly. 2
