“Oh shit,” Colby murmurs beside me when I glared at Kade. He was beside Brian’s car, they both were laughing at something the other said. When he did feel my harsh piercing stare, his eyes draw to me like
magnets.
Something told me he knew exactly why I was currently burying him with my gaze. Especially when a fleeting tiny smile reared on his handsome face.
“Don’t do what I wouldn’t do Mia. Seriously, he can just flick you and you’ll tumble-
I turn my angry gaze to my best friend. “You have so little faith in me Colby, it’s almost disheartening. I’m just going to tell him a piece of my mind. It’s not like I will march over there and kick his balls. Even though it sounds really tempting at the moment….”
I swang my gaze back to the boy who has refused to leave my thoughts since he barged into my life.
He tears his gaze away from me, ignoring me completely. That irritated me so damn much that my jaw hurt as I clench it.
Gripping the bag, I stormed towards Kade and Brian with Colby high on my tail. I could hear his silent protest, clearly afraid of Kade’s reaction. But right now I didn’t care.
He had no right to warn guys off me. He’s not my dad, brother, or my boyfriend.
When I did reach by the two males, the laughing suddenly ceases when Brian’s eyes snap down to me. I wasn’t fond of being short. Especially with how mostly everyone had to look down on me. Curse my short
height.
Brian’s mouth crinkle at the corners as he smiles boyishly. I noticed Kade’s back growing stiff, perhaps already knowing I was just behind him.
“Hey Mia. Come to wish me a safe drive home?” Brian joked, winking slightly.
I ignore him, my piercing angry glare on Kade’s back. I really hope he could feel it and get uncomfortable. “I want to speak to Kade. Alone.” I gritted out.
Colby leans down, lips near my ear and whispers. “Seriously maybe this would be better when you two are at home? There are eyes everywhere Mia.”
I straighten my spine and jut out my chin. ” All the more reason to do it.”
Brian who looks awkward by being dismissed, nodded. ” Err……okay. I’ll just be over there,” He points to somewhere a little further from here. “When you two are done just call me back over.”
Looking between Kade and I with swimming confusion, he turns around and walks away with reluctance

in every step he took.
I looked at Colby over my shoulder, silently telling him that he should leave too. “But what if someone needs to call nine–one–one?” He exasperated.
My eyes narrow in irritation and seconds later his hands go up in surrender until he leaves too.
Now it was just Kade and I. Alone.
He still had not turned around to face me and was stiff as a rock. “What, are you now afraid to even look me in the eye Kade? I thought you had some balls seeing as you’ve been going around the school warning guys off me.” I snarled lowly making sure he was the only one who manages to hear me.
Rolling my eyes down his muscular back to his taut bottom, I draw my bottom lip between my teeth and press down. We’ve been avoiding each other for so long that I forgot how it felt to be in his presence. Especially being this close.
I missed this.
And even though my heart pounded quickly and I could literally feel it in my ears, I missed this feeling.
Not hearing him respond. I grow frustrated. “Guess I was wrong about the balls thing. Maybe you don’t-
Suddenly I take a step back as Kade whirls around to pin me with an irritated glare. What did he have to be irritated about? He wasn’t the one every guy now looks at and makes a run for the hills.
Oh right, he was the cause of it.
Mia,” He barks in warning. I don’t jolt, not scared of his anger or his death stare. Instead, my body buzzed with the way my name sounded coming from his lips.
“Wow, you haven’t said my name in so long that I forgot how it sounded coming from your mouth,” I
breathed out.
Kade’s glare completely lessens and he tears his eyes away from me. Gulping, he whispers. “Don’t,” I looked at him beneath my lashes, chewing my lower lip. “Don’t what Kade? We’re practically back to how it started between us. Strangers. Like you didn’t kiss me. Like you didn’t touch-
He snapped his gaze back to me, his chest rising and falling as he stares down at me. “Don’t go there Mia,
“He warns.
His breath suddenly hitches. “And for God’s sake, stop looking up at me like that!” He hissed lowly. “Like what?” I breathed out, trying to stop my eyes from looking down at his soft lips. I was so tempted to just jump into his arms and latch my lips on his. I miss how soft they felt.
He takes a step forward, leaning down slightly as he hissed lowly. “Like You want me to fuck you.”

I quickly looked away from him, feeling the heat crawl on my cheeks quickly, I wished he would stop being so blunt.
“I did not look at you like that,” I denied even though every single bone in my body told me otherwise.
Kade groans. “And now you’re blushing. Shit Red. You need to stop.”
I snap my head to face him, suddenly remembering why I was here in the first place. “No, you need to stop,” I snapped, pointing an accusing finger at his chest while I keep my gaze away from his eyes in fear they connected and he’d see how much I craved what he said moments ago.
“Stop what? I’m not doing anything. If someone’s doing something it’s you Mia. You need to stop looking at me like that. “Kade grumbles above me. 1
Stop acting like you’re innocent Kade!” I seethed as I snap my eyes to his to pin him with a death stare. He doesn’t flinch like I hoped, only looked at me with slight amusement as if I were a little kitten pawing
at his feet. 1
His brow lift into one that showed his amusement. “I never said I was.”
I huffed out an annoyed breath, wishing I was tall enough to at least be the one staring down at him to appear more intimidating. Being this short wasn’t helping my case when I indeed looked like a kitten at his feet. Only difference was that I wasn’t pawing at his feet like someone desperate for his attention.
“You’re so infuriating!” I snarled, feeling the urge to stomp my feet but knew I’d only look more childish than I was to him already. I didn’t want him to actually laugh at me in amusement, not when he was already mocking me with it already by just staring down at me.
He leaned forward and I had to take a step back so we’d not look like more than two people arguing.” You’ve mentioned that once or twice already, Red. Tell me something I don’t know,” He snorts, eyes dancing with mirth.
Was he really enjoying this argument?
This time I couldn’t stop my feet from stomping on the ground. His blue eyes fall to my feet and he grins. Snorting slightly he voiced out. “Cute.”
I narrowed my eyes, irritated that he was taking everything I said or did as a joke. He really was infuriating. I’ve never known a guy so infuriating before. Well except for my dad who basically sees fit to annoy my mother daily just so in the end he could kiss her pout away.
Crossing my arms under my breasts, I snapped. “What will be cute is my foot connecting with your balls if you don’t stop mocking me.”
He raises both eyebrows at that, clearly more amused now. “Really? That would be too bad then, wouldn’t
it?”

I narrowed my eyes even more on his face. “You’re mocking me again aren’t you?”
The corner of his lips lift and I had to take a step back to stop myself from reaching up and gripping him behind his head and guide him to take my lips into that dance again.
“And what if I am? ” His voice lowers, the husky tone sending shivers creeping up my spine and a fuzzy feeling in my stomach. “What are you going to do about it, Red?”
Huffing, annoyed that he was affecting me, I fixed my gaze on his tie. “Just stop acting like you’re my dad or brother by going about and warning guys to stay away from me. I didn’t ask you to do that. Not that it’s any of your business that guys were lining up to kiss me.”
I could feel his penetrating stare on me and started scratching my arm to distract myself. ” You enjoyed those fuckers coming up to you and basically trying to get in your pants? Is that what you’re saying? Those guys don’t deserve your breath Mia, they don’t deserve you,” He ground out, now voice going from
calm to angry.
I remove my eyes from his tie and snake them up to his eyes, to see the frustration that stormed them. He was right, those guys didn’t deserve my breath. “And you do?” I whispered taking him by surprise by how he flinched slightly.
His gaze drop to my lips suddenly and he grumbles out. ” You know why we can’t Mia. ”
I rolled my eyes turning away from him. “Well stop acting like you want more Kade.” I don’t wait for him to respond and walked away.
“Let’s go Colb!” I yelled at Colby who was pretending to talk to some girl beside her car but knew his gaze had been on Kade and me the entire time.
