CHAPTER 167 SECRETS FINALLY REVEALED

"Your granddaughter is among us. A werewolf.”

Patricia began to laugh. “You’re looking for a way out of this. Don’t mind her, father. She is talking nonsense.”

“Am I?” Max laughed again. “Here’s an even more shocking story. She is our Luna. Our pack’s female leader. I’m sure you are wondering how this happened. On the night of the red moon, the Alpha bit her and made her one of us. “He’s even married to her right now.”

“Nonsense!” Ferdinand yelled in anger.

“Believe me; I bet your daughter-in-law knows as well. Selena’s sister was among those involved. They’re doing everything they can to ensure her safety. Even from you, Ferdinand.”

“That’s enough!” Ferdinand furrowed his brow. “Get her out of here and make her suffer,” he instructed the two men who approached her.

“Get your filthy hands off me!” Max yelled as the two big men grabbed her. She tried to transform, but a sleeping mask was placed over her face, and she immediately fell asleep.

“Put her in a different cell away from her brother,” he instructed the men. “And you, Patricia, we need to go to the O’Brien’s mansion.”

Selena hugged herself as she looked out her window. Watching the bitch black street. She’s waiting for Tyler to respond to her about Titus.

As soon as the door opened, Jade dashed inside. “Mom’s back.”

Selena turned and nodded. She wasn’t surprised that Isabel would return. Selena took a step back from the window and followed Jade out the room. Selena noticed Isabel sitting in the chair, talking with Hania as she descended the stairs.

“Oh, Selena. I’m excited that I found you at home.” Isabel stated as she stood to hug her daughter. “I was telling Hania about the near-accident that happened on my way home.”

Selena faked a smile as Isabel released her. “What brings you back this early? I expected you to use one month.”

“I couldn’t leave all of you behind. Besides, my family wasn’t excited to see me. Your grandfather and grandmother were furious. I even had to spend a couple of nights in a hotel.”

“Did you bring anything for us? I have always wanted to try British chocolate. Jade stated as she sat next to Isabel.”

“Aren’t chocolates all the same?” Hania asked.

“Certainly not, Hania.” Jade rolled her eyes and sighed. “You really should go out more.”

Hania saw a reflection of light enter the room through the window, and her eyes immediately went to it. It came from a vehicle. She turned to look at Isabel. “Are you expecting a visitor?”

“No, sorry. No one knows I have returned.”

Hania got up and went over to the door. She peered through the door gap and turned to Isabel right away. “It’s my grandfather. He and Aunt Patricia have arrived.”

“How come? Why ?”

“Selena. Enter your room and close the door behind you.” Hania stated. “Mom and I will take care of Grandpa.”

“But, why?” Selena was perplexed.

“Please listen to me. If you overhear a potentially harmful conversation, run as far as your legs can carry you.”

“But why would she do something like that, Hania?”

“Mom. Just come with me.” She grabbed Isabel and motioned Selena to leave. Selena dashed up the stairs, locking the door behind her. Hania exhaled as she opened the door before hearing a knock. “Grandfather. We weren’t expecting you.”

Ferdinand dashed into the house, taking a quick glance around. “Where is Selena?” He sounded angry.

“Why are you looking for my daughter?” Isabel asked.

“How was your trip to Mexico? Let me guess that your parents despised you and sent you away?” Patricia grinned.

“Not now, Patricia. To father-in-law. Why are you here for Selena?” She saw the monkshood jar in his hand. “What are you doing with that?”

“I know you know your second daughter is a werewolf, but you are hiding it from me.”

“What? What kind of prank are you playing on me? Werewolf? No, Selena is human.” Isabel turned to face Hania. “Tell your grandfather he’s spewing trash.”

Hania swallowed. “You’re spewing nonsense, Grandfather. Selena is human and is visiting a friend. Please come back tomorrow.”

“I’m going to look into her myself.” Ferdinand left with Patricia and the men who accompanied them on their way to Selena’s room. They walked in but it was empty.

“What’s going on here? What did I miss when I was away?” Isabel inquired, her gaze fixed on her two daughters.

Jade and Hania’s eyes locked. Hania took a glance at Isabel. “Grandpa is right. Selena is really a werewolf.”

“What?” Hania and Isabel spoke in unison. In shock.

“Are you aware too? How long?” Jade asked.

“It’s been a while. I knew the day she tried to protect Titus after I discovered he wasn’t who he claimed to be. I’m not surprised you knew.” Jade reacted.

“What the hell’s going on here? My daughter is a werewolf, and I have no idea. How? When? How did all of this come about?” Isabel’s voice was shaking as she spoke. Her daughter has become a creature that the family has gotten used to killing.

“Mom. I once told you that Selena has a big secret. This is it. This is the secret that drove her to become stubborn and resort to drugs. It occurred on the night of Daddy’s funeral. The day we noticed blood on her. That night, the Alpha bit her.” Jade took Isabel’s hand in her own. “But you must be strong for her. She needs our help now more than ever. Will you help your daughter or have her grandfather kill her?”

“Mom.” Hania called.

Isabel inhaled deeply, her tears hidden. “I had no idea she was in pain the entire time. I can’t repeat the mistake I made when she was a child. I won’t abandon her again.” She nodded her head and smiled at her daughters. “You’re right. She needs us now more than ever, and I’ll make sure she is safe.”

Selena let out a gasp as she dashed through the leaves. When she heard her grandfather’s angry words, she realized that he recognized her. But how did he find out about this? Selena’s only thought as she ran in the cold night and nearly full moonlight was to go to the territory to meet Tyler and stay there for the time being for her safety. She tried to catch her breath by inhaling deeply, but she quickly covered her nose when she smelled something bad.

Rogues.

Selena entered the gate, but there were no guards stationed there. She took a look around and noticed how dry it was. Where is everyone gone? She gave it some thought. Her first stop was at the pack-house. She could smell blood when she arrived, and the area was as desolate as a desert. She tried to mind-link Tyler but it did not work. Selena sighed as she approached Titus’ mansion and detected the smell of werewolves.

Titus must have kept them all inside his house for their own safety. Speaking of which, she could not smell Titus or Tyler. Selena turned and pushed the door open. Everyone’s eyes were fixed on her. The werewolves’ expressions were dejected and fearful.
