Chapter 467 Not Going Anywhere
Chapter 467 Not Going Anywhere
AMELIA
"Dead," I said, surprised by how cold I sounded. How uncaring. "Did you really think you'd get away with it? You know what happens now, don't you?" I personally don't know what will happen, but I wanted to convey an important message and I believe that I succeeded in doing so.
"Where is he now?" he asked, and I knew what he meant. I told him the name of the hotel and the room and I hung up. Roger nodded imperceptibly, so I deduced that I did the right thing. He thought so, at least. We had to get moving, so I grabbed my belongings and I practically held my breath until we got outside. I was terrified that his men would find me, but at least I had Roger with me.
Nothing happened, and we got away safely.
I couldn't stop thinking of what had happened. I didn't think I'd have the courage to kill a man, but I did. I shot Ash Rockford and I'm flooded with relief. Sweet, sweet relief. This war is by no means over, but if the Huntingtons were hiding behind Ash, they will continue to do so. Meaning this matter has probably died with him. This is just my opinion, I don't if that's true. They might avenge his death. Anything could happen.
I could finally go to Damien. I didn't have to worry about anything else. The worst was finally behind us. I decided to stop by the apartment first. Roger told me that she was there, so I wanted to share the news with her first. I'd go to him after that, and I swore to myself that I wouldn't leave his side.
I arrived at the apartment. Roger stayed in the car, waiting for me to return. I didn't even get the chance to close the door. Theo was on me, hugging me. Yelling at me. Hitting me lightly.
"Where have you been?" she asked. "Do you have any idea of what you put us through? Do you?"
I looked up at her and said, "It's done."
She paused and looked at me for a long time, like she was trying to make sense of what I told her. "He's dead?"
I nodded. We hugged. She was much calmer. She didn't ask for the specifics and I didn't give them to her. No one needed to know that he put his filthy paws on me, that he sucked the delicate skin of my neck, caressed my breasts.
Then she told me about Damien.
I can't say I wasn't shocked to hear that he had a panic attack when he heard that I would be meeting Ash at a hotel. A multitude of emotions assaulted my body. I couldn't distinguish one from the other. A part of me was furious at Theo for telling him something like this when he's still recovering. I was crestfallen.
"I'm sorry," she said. "I didn't know what else to do."
I just looked at her, not saying a word. There was a lot of pent-up anger inside me, but once again I let it go. Arguing with her wouldn't erase what she did. I left the apartment and found Roger waiting in the car. I told him to take me to Damien immediately. We'd have to stop by the airport first. I didn't care how long it would take, I just wanted to go to him.
I'm finally here.
I take another step and he looks at me.
The pain in his eyes catches me off-guard. I take a step back. He's looking right at me, but it's like he isn't seeing me. I suppress my fear and go to him. His eyes follow me the entire time. I stop right in front of him. I tuck my hair behind my ear, unsure of what to say.
His lips remain sealed and so do mine.
I kneel in front of him. He look down at me with his azure eyes, his breath hitching in his throat in the process. He's in pain and it's all my fault, but I don't regret what I did. Now, we can be together. I'll tend to him and care for him until he recovers fully. I'm not leaving his side ever again. Ash is dead, the worst is behind us.
I take his hands in mine, hoping to communicate all this to him without saying a word. He squeezes my fingers lightly. This alone is electrifying. I almost forgot how his presence brightens my whole universe, how his scent calms my nerves. It always has. I kiss his hand and lay my head on his lap. He lets go of my fingers and runs his fingers through my hair. Being this close to him feels like a dream. The last time I held him, he was bleeding to death in my arms. That feels like an eternity ago.
"I'm sorry," I say, my voice barely audible even to me. If I speak too loudly, I'm afraid I'll cry. I don't want tears to ruin this moment.
"Are you hurt?" he asks, and I shake my head.
He places his hand under my chin. I look up. He leans towards me and kisses me with a fervent need I've never known before. I hold onto him as if my life depends on him, on this kiss. He's breathing air right into me, bringing me back to life with his tongue. His arms circle me, gathering me against him. I feel the thud of his heart against my breast. I never realized how much I missed the taste of his lips. It's exquisite, unique, essential. Our lips remain locked for the longest time, our cheeks wet with my tears. I'm falling apart and he's stitching me back together, gently. My heart isn't big enough for my love, it's overflowing. It's filling up this entire room. God, I'd do it all again. Every sacrifice I've made tonight was worth it. He's worth it, he always will be.
I'm never leaving his side, not ever.
