Chapter 461 Regret

Chapter 461 Regret
AMELIA

I gulp. My mouth is completely dry and I've run out of things to say. His cold fingertips brush against the side of my neck and I flinch and move away from him. He grabs my arm, pulling me towards him. My front is firmly pressed against his. If I wasn't panicking before, I'm definitely panicking now.

"Let me go," I say, but the words are feeble. I barely heard myself. He might feel the gun. If he holds me tighter, he'll feel it.

"You really want me to do that?" he asks, kissing my neck. I'm repulsed. I push him away with my hands, but he isn't budging. "You came here for a reason, didn't you?"

"We have negotiations."

"That we do," he says, pulling back. His eyes are dark and menacing and his grin is wolfish. "But we both know the real reason why you're here. Don't bother denying it."

"You're crazy," I say, and to my surprise, he laughs.

"I am," he agrees. "Usually, that's what most people love about me. You agree, don't you?" He goes back to assaulting my neck with his wet kisses and at this point, I'm holding back tears. This isn't how I thought it would go. This isn't what I was expecting. His hands are all over my body; on my waist and on my back and on my breasts. I'm still fighting him, still pushing him away with every bit of strength I have in me. I'm scared that he'll find the gun, I'm terrified. If his hands venture lower, he will.

I try to step away from him. "Ash—"

He doesn't stop touching me. It's like he isn't even hearing me. I'm desperate at this point, any second now he'll find it. I hid it well, but there's no way he'll miss it. I glance at the door again. It remains closed, a reminder that trusting Devon was a huge fucking mistake.

"I've wanted you for a long time," he's telling me. "I've always been curious to find out what the great Damien Keller saw in you."

His words sicken me. However, it's nothing compared to when his hand slides against the gun I hid in my underwear. It's like a punch to my gut. He pauses momentarily and touches it again. My feet are glued to the floor. I look up just as he looks down at me. His demeanor changed entirely. His eyes are no longer filled with lust.

I reach for it just as he pushes me. I fly backwards, landing on the bed. I'm still trying to grab it when he pushes my legs open forcefully, his fingers digging into my skin painfully. My legs will be bruised come tomorrow, but for the first time tonight I'm starting to really understand what I've gotten myself into. I might not be alive to see the bruises.

The thought is terrifying.

"What do we have here?" he asks, pulling my panties down my legs. I struggle against him, trying to grab it before he does. It's in his hands now, but I don't stop kicking him. "A gun? Were you planning on killing me, Amelia? Is that what this is?"

I don't have it in me to lie anymore. I'm too angry, too humiliated. I'm trying to hide my nakedness from him, but he's already seen me. All of me. At this moment, I'm at his mercy. He could cock the gun and shoot me right here. No one would help me. I regret my impulsiveness now. I was too stubborn, I should've listened to Theo.

No, I trusted Devon. If he hadn't suggested this, I wouldn't be here.

He shakes his head. "And here I thought you were someone I could trust. I underestimated you, Amelia. I didn't think you had it in you."

I can't hold my tongue any longer. He's gone too far, and there's only so much I can take. I've got nothing to lose at this point. If killing me is his intention, he'll do it. "You thought I was in love with you, is that it?" I rise from the bed. "You're pathetic. What would I ever find attractive in someone like you?"

This makes him angry. He grabs my arm and pushes me. I fall to the floor. It doesn't hurt, but he's hovering over me now with the gun in his hand.

"Wrong answer."

He's walking towards me and I'm moving backwards. My back hits the couch. I see some movement behind him and I can't help but look. A shadow just crossed the room. No, not a shadow. For a moment I thought my mind was playing tricks on me, but that isn't the case. I suppress a gasp.

It's Devon.

He just crawled out from under the bed. He's heading towards Ash now silently with a baseball bat in his hand. Ash is still glaring down at me in utter disgust when Devon whacks him on the head with it. He does so again and again until Ash is on the floor, passed out. Ash never saw it coming. He then kicks my gun out of his hand. It lands near me and I reach for it.

I look back up at him. He's smiling at me. "You didn't think I'd let you down, now did you?"
